“Do I really look like I’ve eaten someone before...?” Ning Chu muttered, rolling her eyes.
“If you ever need anything, don’t hesitate to come find me. I can help with anything at all~” An’an teased, smiling as she pushed open her office door. “Come on in.”
Ning Chu timidly followed behind Wen Yang as they stepped into the office.
Another teacher was already working at a desk inside. They glanced up, acknowledging the group with a casual nod. “An’an, since you’re new as a counselor, feel free to ask me if you don’t understand anything.”
“Sure thing~”
It seemed that the ghost lady had a decent reputation with the faculty.
Wait—could that teacher be a ghost too?
Ning Chu looked cautiously at the middle-aged teacher, scrutinizing them for any signs, but couldn’t tell for sure.
Following An’an to her desk, she found herself slightly distracted.
Had this ghost lady really reformed?
But thinking it over, An’an hadn’t actually done anything terrible. She just liked flirting with men all over the place. The only “incident” on the school forum involved a timid boy who sprained his ankle after being startled by her sudden appearance.
At worst, she could be described as a ghost with... a rather messy love life?
Instinctively, Ning Chu shifted closer to Wen Yang, eyeing An’an warily.
“Don’t worry, I’m not the type to force anyone. Besides, I’m not interested in your little boyfriend.” An’an chuckled, pulling out a stamp from her drawer. “You don’t have class next, do you? Here, stamp your student IDs. First-year, second semester—don’t put it in the wrong place.”
“???”
Wen Yang was silent for a moment, then finally spoke up. “I’d rather not be class president.”
“You don’t want to? Why? Are you scared of me? Where am I supposed to find a new class president now?”
“I think Yan Xinya would be more suitable. You know her, don’t you?”
“That ditzy husky?”
Ning Chu suddenly felt a strange camaraderie with An’an.
So, she wasn’t the only one who thought Yan Xinya was more of a husky than a wolf!
“Yan Xinya doesn’t have your capability,” An’an replied flatly.
“!!!”
Ning Chu immediately bristled, pulling Wen Yang behind her protectively and glaring at An’an with fiery eyes.
“???”
An’an raised an eyebrow, glancing at Wen Yang with an amused ❀ Nоvеlігht ❀ (Don’t copy, read here) expression. “What exactly goes on in your girlfriend’s head?”
“Well...uh...”
Ning Chu’s ears burned red with embarrassment as she glanced away.
It wasn’t her fault her mind went there—she just had to be cautious of female ghosts around her boyfriend!
With a sigh, An’an waved her hand dismissively. “Fine, fine, I’ll let Xinya take the position. Now help me finish stamping these. After that, you're free to go.”
“An’an, it’s time for the meeting.”
“Coming~”
Another teacher called out, prompting An’an to grab her briefcase. “Just leave the stamped forms on the desk. Make sure to close the door on your way out.”
With that, she left the office, leaving Ning Chu and Wen Yang alone.
The two exchanged a silent look, and Wen Yang finally broke the silence. “Oddly enough, she seems rather easygoing for a ghost.”
“She could just be putting on a front!”
Ning Chu saw right through it. “Our previous counselor acted nice enough, but behind the scenes, he tried to get handsy with Xinya!”
“If Xinya hadn’t trained herself, she would’ve had a rough time!”
“True.”
You can never truly know what lies beneath the surface, especially with ghosts.
An’an might look harmless now, but who knows when she might try something on the male students!
Ning Chu’s mind wandered for a moment, recalling An’an’s attractive face and figure. She wasn’t sure if the male students would see her advances as a threat... or an unexpected “adventure.”
After nodding in agreement, Wen Yang said, “Well, at least I’m no longer the class president. Other than class meetings, I won’t have to interact with her much.”
“Stamp our IDs quickly; I want to get back to writing.”
“Alright.”
It didn’t take long to finish stamping the IDs, and soon, they were out of the office.
The whole experience had gone smoother than expected, with An’an showing no signs of seduction toward Wen Yang. Then again, maybe she was waiting to play the long game.
Ning Chu’s nerves eased as they left the building, though the cold wind soon had her shivering.
Wen Yang’s tall figure moved in front of her, blocking most of the wind. “Want to grab something to eat at the cafeteria?”
“Sure.”
Ning Chu rubbed her stomach. She wasn’t particularly hungry, but ordering takeout back home would be pricier.
It was still class time, so there weren’t many students around.
As they entered the cafeteria, Ning Chu spotted Qianqian and Yan Xinya sitting in a corner.
“You go buy the food. I’ll go say hi.” She instructed Wen Yang, adding, “And get me some braised ribs—I’ve got a sudden craving.”
“Got it. A bit spicy?”
“Yep, just mildly spicy!”
Nodding, she left Wen Yang and headed over to where Xinya and Qianqian sat.
“Xinya! Teacher Qianqian! What are you two talking about?”
“Oh, Ning Chu?” Xinya looked up and sighed. “We were talking about Shaoqing. Qianqian says he’s been distant with her recently, and she doesn’t know why.”
“Especially after the New Year... I’m starting to think he doesn’t like me anymore.” Qianqian sighed, resting her chin in her hands with a troubled expression.
“How could that be? If he didn’t like you, he wouldn’t have pursued you so earnestly for a month!”
“But men can be so fickle...”
Listening to their conversation, Ning Chu pieced things together.
It seemed that after Qianqian had developed feelings for Zhang Shaoqing, the “thick-skinned” guy had lost interest. Although he still went along with her, Qianqian had begun to notice his indifference.
What a headache...
Twirling a strand of hair around her finger, Ning Chu racked her brain for a way to help her “son” sort out his love life.
Mothers sure had it rough~
“Ning Chu, you’re pretty close to Shaoqing. Has he said anything to you?”
Of course, she wasn’t going to betray her “son,” so Ning Chu quickly shook her head. “How would I know...? Why don’t you ask Wen Yang when he gets back?”
Suddenly, an idea popped into her mind—a mischievous one at that. Turning to Qianqian, she asked, “Want to try something?”
“Something?”
“Yep! I know Shaoqing well enough~ He loves a good thrill. You might have to get... creative with him...”
“???”
Qianqian blinked in confusion, her cheeks quickly turning bright red.
Ignoring her flustered reaction, Ning Chu continued, “Start acting distant, pretend you’re not interested in him. Even better, make up a pretend boyfriend—mention him now and then to stir things up.”
“Isn’t that a bit... wrong?”
Wrong? It was perfect!
That guy loved playing the jealous third party, swooning over girls who didn’t like him!
“The colder you are, the more he’ll like it~ He has this thing for ‘conquering’ unattainable girls.”
Xinya mumbled from the side, “It’s like running someone over with a truck...”
“I didn’t say anything like that!”
