Will Zhang Shaoqing turn into a girl?

How could she know?

If it had been written before her transmigration, it might have been more likely, but this particular short story was something she had written later.

Ning Chu didn’t have much time to dwell on the question, as her brain had turned into mush again, thanks to Wen Yang's relentless “attacks.” Before long, she had rolled her eyes and fainted in exhaustion.

When she woke up the next morning, it was already eight o'clock.

The aroma of meat buns filled the room, and Ning Chu groggily stared at the ceiling. She rubbed her flat stomach, realizing that she was already dressed in pajamas. Wen Yang had cleaned her up inside and out while she was asleep last night.

Following the scent, she glanced toward the desk and saw Wen Yang eating breakfast.

This guy... Is the whole “main character and author” thing really that exciting? He practically wore her out!

Thankfully, she was a succubus, and the exaggerated scenarios in the harem novels could actually manifest in her without causing any harm. Otherwise, she would have probably ended up in the hospital by now.

She had tried to remain quiet the entire time but couldn’t help regretting not taking Wen Yang’s suggestion to buy a gag from the store downstairs...

"You're awake?"

Hearing her stir, Wen Yang turned his head and smiled warmly at her. "I bought some meat buns. Want to get up for breakfast?"

"I can’t... My whole body aches."

The pain was actually quite mild—almost intriguingly so—but her limbs were still too weak to move.

Ning Chu lay there in a daze, trying to let her body and mind recover. Suddenly, she jolted up, instinctively reaching for her phone.

Luckily, there were no missed calls from her mother.

Even though she had tried her best to stay quiet last night, she was still worried they might have disturbed the neighbors and received a complaint.

Relieved, she continued to lie in bed, waiting for her strength to return.

"The meat buns from this place are pretty good. I also got some stuffed pancakes and soy milk."

"Mhm, just leave it there. I'll eat later."

She lazily stretched, yawning as she twisted her body under the blankets.

Finally sitting up, she leaned against the headboard and accepted the meat bun Wen Yang handed her. She hesitated, considering getting out of bed to eat.

"No need to get out of bed. I’ll wash the sheets later anyway."

She glanced down at the rumpled sheets, then sheepishly bit into the meat bun.

Indeed, every time, she and Wen Yang managed to leave the bed in complete disarray...

"Um... Are you okay?"

"Me? Why wouldn’t I be?"

After everything that had happened, Wen Yang still didn’t seem particularly shaken by the truth.

Their eyes met, and he understood her worry. He reassured her again, saying, "The last twenty years of my life weren’t fake. And after reading your novel, it doesn’t seem like there’s much connection between that storyline and who I am now..."

"Stop, stop, stop!" Ning Chu’s face flushed as she cut him off, "Don’t mention my book again!"

Wen Yang nodded, though his lips curved into a teasing smile. "We should respect the original story. How about we go through the plot together?"

“!!”

Ning Chu’s eyes widened in disbelief.

No way! He wants to make me go through the side characters’ plotlines too?!

Wouldn’t that make her a full-fledged harem novel heroine?!

“You wrote it.”

“No! Absolutely not! Pervert!”

She vigorously shook her head, her arms crossing in front of her to form an “X.” “No way! Don’t let your mind be filled with lewd thoughts! How are you any different from that harem novel scumbag protagonist?!”

Seeing her so embarrassed that her ears turned red, Wen Yang couldn’t help but laugh out loud.

“You’re still laughing!”

All he ever does is tease her!

Fuming, Ning Chu kicked at Wen Yang’s waist. “I’m going to take a bath and head back.”

“Finish breakfast first.”

“Okay.”

She sat cross-legged, draping her coat over herself for warmth, and slowly began eating her breakfast. Inside, she felt a weight lifting off her chest.

Keeping that secret had been a heavy burden, always making her worry that Wen Yang would one day find out the truth and leave her. After all, the suffering Wen Yang endured due to the loss of his parents was something she had whimsically written as part of the main character’s “backstory.”

Now that everything was out in the open, and Wen Yang didn’t seem to mind, it was a relief.

The only issue left was that Wen Yang seemed keen on turning her into a proper heroine...

Ning Chu cupped her hands around the warm soy milk, letting its heat warm her cold fingers. She glanced up and said, “This afternoon, I’m going to hang out at Lili’s place. She’s been alone at home, begging me to keep her company every day.”

“This afternoon? That soon?”

“Mhm, we planned it ahead of time. Xin Ya will be there too.”

Wen Yang nodded in mild disappointment. “How long will you be gone?”

“Maybe two days? Depends. It won’t be long. New Year’s is just around the corner.”

The timing was actually perfect. These two days would give both of them some time to cool down. Otherwise, at the rate they were going, Ning Chu feared not only for her body’s endurance but also for the possibility of getting addicted.

But then again, Lili’s house might not be entirely safe either... She had a whole stash of toys, and Lili was always eager to recommend them to her.

Ning Chu resolved to stick to gaming and not fall for any of Lili’s nonsense.

After finishing breakfast, taking a bath, and changing into her going-out clothes, Ning Chu was finally ready to leave. Wen Yang also replaced the dirty bedsheets, tossing them into a bucket to wash later that night.

“Want to have lunch at my place?”

“Sure.”

“Let’s take the subway back. I’m broke.”

Luckily, Ning Chu had just received her manuscript payment, so even though she had spent a lot in the past few days, she still had some money left.

The two of them slowly walked down the narrow streets of the urban village, hand in hand. Having finally resolved the secret that had been weighing her down, Ning Chu was in a great mood. She swung Wen Yang’s hand back and forth, humming a tuneless melody as she walked with a light skip in her step.

“Wen Yang, it’s a bit cold.”

“Want to wear my jacket?”

Her eyes darted over Wen Yang, and she slowed her pace, sneaking behind him.

Suddenly, a hand shot out from above, slipping inside her collar, pressing its cold palm against her back, causing her to shiver and nearly scream.

“Wen Yang!”

Wen Yang bolted. The last time Ning Chu had pulled a stunt like this, he had been caught off guard. This time, he was determined to strike first.

That mischievous look in her eyes had given her away!

“Don’t run! What’s wrong with warming up my hands?”

Fuming, Ning Chu chased after him, but with Wen Yang’s long legs, one of his strides covered two of hers. After a few steps, she realized she had no chance of catching up.

Out of breath, she suddenly cried out, “Ouch!” and squatted down on the ground.

Wen Yang had been watching her closely. Seeing that something was wrong, he stopped and cautiously approached, keeping his distance as he asked, “What happened?”

“I twisted my ankle... It’s all your fault,” Ning Chu whimpered, holding her ankle and pouting.

“Then I...”

“Ice cream!”

She sprang to her feet, lunging to grab Wen Yang’s clothes. But he was quicker, dodging her attack and taking off running again.

“Ahhh!!!”

“Stop pretending. Isn’t that a bit childish?” Wen Yang called back from a safe distance. “The same trick doesn’t work twice on a Saint Seiya!”

Ning Chu's face paled with actual pain. “And you’re making jokes?! This time I really twisted my ankle...”
