"A gathering?"

Having finally finished writing a chapter, Ning Chu looked up, frowning in slight worry.

Wen Yang sighed helplessly, "It’s the welcome party. The manager said all the new hires have to attend."

"Alright."

If everything went as expected, there might be trouble at tonight’s gathering...

Ning Chu picked up her phone and glanced at the plot related to the party.

The character was drugged unconscious by a vixen and taken to her private villa, where he was drained for three days and nights...

That part of the story had already passed, but the memory of how close things had gotten still gave Ning Chu chills. If she hadn’t gone to check on Wen Yang that time, he might have been molded into one of those typical harem male protagonists!

Then there was another scene: the protagonist is drugged with a potent aphrodisiac at a dinner. In his struggle to contain himself, he ends up meeting a kind-hearted girl who helps him, but ends up being so worn out that she can barely move afterward...

Yikes! That one sounded even worse! And the more she thought about it, the more that "kind-hearted girl" started to resemble herself!

Ning Chu’s face turned pale as she read through the plot again. The girl in the story didn’t even have a name.

Confirmed—it’s definitely me!

In the story, the drug made the protagonist so wild that by the end of the night, the girl couldn’t even walk straight and was left with a big belly.

She couldn’t help but imagine the scene... and her face flushed bright red once again.

Wen Yang noticed her face turning from white to red, and how she kept stealing nervous glances at him while shuffling away awkwardly. He was utterly confused.

What did I do? How did I scare my little succubus like this?

He had only sneaked a glance at her phone screen, but it was too small to see anything except lines of text.

"What’s going on with you?"

"I... I think I should go home," Ning Chu said, standing up from the bed, her shorts emphasizing her round, perky backside. The heart-shaped tail tucked nervously between her legs gave away her anxious state.

Wen Yang only had to look at her tail to gauge her emotions.

Ning Chu took off the jacket she had been wearing, revealing a snug white tank top that clung tightly to her upper body, outlining her figure. The top was a bit short, exposing her slim waist. The curve from her waist to her hips was enough to make anyone’s mouth go dry.

Wen Yang only then realized that his little succubus had dressed like this in the middle of winter.

"Aren’t you cold?"

"..."

Ning Chu froze, turning back to glare at Wen Yang in frustration.

She had put a lot of thought into this outfit!

And all he noticed was whether she was cold or not, instead of complimenting her long legs or her figure?

"I was under the blankets, how could I be cold?" she muttered, grabbing her casual clothes from a wall hook. "I’ll change and head home."

"It’s already almost five. If you don’t leave soon, you’ll miss dinner."

Ning Chu clutched her clothes, ready to head for the bathroom, but hesitated just before stepping inside.

Wait a second! If Wen Yang really does get drugged at tonight’s party and is in desperate need of relief... If she leaves, then another girl could be the one to take the hit.

Her possessiveness flared up at the thought.

No way! He’s my boyfriend! I’ve invested too much in him to let anyone else swoop in!

But if she stayed, she might end up in the same situation as that poor girl in the novel, all used up and sporting a watermelon belly.

This was an impossible dilemma... Either way was unacceptable!

Wen Yang’s voice drifted over from behind her. "If you’re not changing, could you move? I need to use the bathroom."

"Go ahead."

"Why are you acting so weird all of a sudden?" He frowned, studying Ning Chu closely. "It’s like you’re avoiding me."

"No, I’m not..."

Her red cheeks and evasive gaze immediately gave her away.

Wen Yang rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "Are you up to something? Or planning to do something naughty in the bathroom?"

"Absolutely not!"

"Then why do you look so guilty?"

"Just go use the bathroom already!"

Ning Chu shoved Wen Yang into the bathroom, then shivered from the cold and hurried back under the blankets.

Her summery outfit of shorts and a tank top was torture in the middle of winter, and her exposed legs were starting to feel like they were turning into frozen hams.

She had wanted to dress up and surprise Wen Yang, but instead, he’d just asked if she was cold...

As Wen Yang used the bathroom, Ning Chu sat cross-legged on the bed, bundled up in the blankets, trying to think of a way to handle the potential aphrodisiac plotline.

Surely, the drug didn’t have to be cured through... that, right?

She was pretty skilled with her hands and mouth... but from how the book described it, even if she wore her hands out and dislocated her jaw, it wouldn’t be enough to completely exhaust the drug’s effects.

Or maybe she should make sure Wen Yang didn’t eat anything at the dinner? Or better yet, just stop him from going altogether?

Ning Chu rubbed her temples in frustration.

She had planned to write another chapter after going home, but now she couldn’t focus on writing at all.

The sound of flushing came from the bathroom.

Taking a deep breath, she quickly gathered her thoughts, putting on a pitiful expression as she looked up at Wen Yang, who had just stepped out of the bathroom.

"Wen Yang~ don’t go to the party, okay?"

"Do you have plans tonight?"

"Mm! I want to go to the movies with you~"

Wen Yang couldn’t resist Ning Chu when she acted cute like this. Her weak, helpless, and adorably seductive expression made his heart waver, and before he knew it, he’d made his decision: "Alright, I won’t go."

Ning Chu felt a small sense of relief but then asked worriedly, "Will this affect your job?"

"That depends on whether the manager holds grudges or not."

After all, it was a welcome dinner, and as a new employee trying to fit in, skipping it could have some consequences.

Ning Chu frowned, not wanting to be the reason for any setbacks.

Once again, she was caught in a dilemma!

"I didn’t really want to go in the first place," Wen Yang reassured her, leaning against the desk with his hands in his pockets. "I’m not a big fan of parties, and now you’ve given me a perfect excuse to skip it."

"Mm..."

But what about future gatherings? He couldn’t avoid them all, could he? What about bigger events, like their wedding banquet?

She would have to face it eventually.

The plotline might not even trigger this time.

Ning Chu was more conflicted than ever.

"Stop overthinking it," Wen Yang chuckled, flicking her forehead with his finger. She let out a small yelp and curled up, clutching her head. "That hurt!"

"You’re always overthinking things. A little pain will clear your head."

It’s not like I’m overthinking nonsense!

"I’ll just send the manager a message."

"Wait."

Ning Chu frowned, her brain racing to come up with a better solution.

"What now?"

This little succubus was always worried about him getting snatched away by other women, always fretting over the smallest things. But he didn’t mind. In fact, he enjoyed the concern.

Having lost his parents at a young age, he found this kind of care deeply comforting.

Suddenly, Ning Chu’s eyes lit up. She slapped her thigh and exclaimed, "Let’s go downstairs and buy something!"

"Buy something?"

"Mm-hmm!"
