Chapter 61: In Class
The good news was, it was just a verbal warning—after getting chewed out, of course.
The bad news? She had to write a 3,000-word reflection.
If she used Lin Li’s going rate of ten bucks for a hundred words, this reflection was worth three hundred!
Ning Chu stood there, head hanging low, listening to the lecture in silence, her face full of helplessness. But her mind was far from the scolding she was getting—it was on more important life decisions.
Like, what to eat for lunch?
The counselor finally took a deep breath and sipped from her tea. “If this happens again, it won’t just be a warning and a reflection.”
“Oh... I won’t do it again,” Ning Chu mumbled.
“These kids these days...” the counselor shook her head, eyeing Ning Chu up and down. “You’re quite a pretty one, but you insist on doing such dumb things.”
“...”
With an exasperated wave of her hand, the counselor dismissed her. “Alright, go to class. I expect that reflection on my desk by Monday.”
Ning Chu let out a sigh of relief and, with a quick nod, dashed out of the office.
After half an hour of standing there, her legs were sore. Despite the counselor being strict, she hadn’t said anything too harsh. Maybe she wasn’t so bad after all?
Ning Chu caught herself mid-thought and shivered. Damn! She’d thought the same thing last time... and then Han Jingye got sent to prison because of this very counselor. Who knows how long he’d been sentenced for?
Her mood darkened as she walked towards the classroom. She figured it was time to finally tell her parents about everything. Changing her school registration to reflect her gender wasn’t something she could do alone. Not only would her parents need to get involved, but they’d also have to gather a mountain of paperwork.
After all, college lasted four whole years. She couldn’t just keep living in the boys’ dorm forever.
It had only been a little over two months, and already Wen Yang had feelings for her, Zhang Shaoqing constantly suspected her gender, and Wang Jie... Well, he was a bit slow, but he’d gotten into university, so his intelligence was obviously fine. He’d figure it out sooner or later.
Right now, the weather was cold, so wearing layers and looking flat wasn’t an issue. But what about next summer? Wearing light, short sleeves? Who knows how her body would develop by then? She couldn’t exactly wear a chest binder every day and keep staying in the boys' dorm, could she?
“A whole bunch of problems,” Ning Chu muttered to herself, glancing up at the public restroom as she passed by. She turned and walked inside.
Time to take a break...
Out of habit, she headed towards the men’s restroom, but just as one foot stepped inside, she froze.
A strange noise echoed from within.
Ning Chu’s body stiffened, her head craning forward cautiously to peek inside, but there was no one in sight.
“What’s that noise?”
The odd sound triggered her unease again. Instinctively, her hand reached into her jacket, clutching the small can of hypnosis spray she carried with her. She swallowed nervously and slowly began to back away.
Then she heard a stifled moan.
“Hah~”
Oh great... Someone was fooling around during class, huh?
Her nerves instantly relaxed, and she let out a sigh of frustration. She turned on her heel and headed toward the women’s restroom instead.
The first time she had stumbled upon people fooling around, her face had gone beet-red. Now, after a few encounters, she was used to it.
It seemed like everyone around here had some sort of perverted streak. And they were too broke to even afford a proper hotel room.
Even Wen Yang, the male lead, got up to some questionable things in the story. But that was something she herself had written.
She’d lost count of how many times she cursed herself. "Why the hell did I ever write this crazy royal fantasy in the first place?"
By the time she returned to class, the first lecture had just ended.
Ning Chu sat back down in her seat, propping her chin on one hand while searching online for a sample reflection to use as a reference.
“How’d it go?” Zhang Shaoqing leaned in, his face full of curiosity. “What’s your punishment? Not a formal demerit, I hope?”
“Just a verbal warning, but I have to write a 3,000-word reflection.”
Lin Li, always on the lookout for business opportunities, chimed in, “A hundred bucks, and I’ll write it for you!”
“No thanks.”
She’d rather spend that hundred bucks on treating Wen Yang to a nice meal, something nutritious.
“So, what’s your plan for the next few days?” Yan Xinya asked, leaning in. “Are you going back to the dorms?”
New n𝙤vel chapters are published on freewebnovel.cσ๓.
Without thinking, Ning Chu shook her head. “No, I’ll sneak over there at night.”
“What the hell?! Is our dorm so bad that you'd risk getting caught just to sneak into hers?” Zhang Shaoqing asked, clutching his chest dramatically. “Have we done something to offend you?”
“You’re not a girl.”
He paused, then leaned closer, lowering his voice with a knowing smile. “Wait, are you sneaking into the girls’ dorm to—”
“???”
“Ah, no wonder you always look so tired...”
“Get lost!”
Ning Chu’s mind flashed back to that night in the girls' dorm when she had almost lost control during a heated moment. She shot him an embarrassed glare.
The ringing of the class bell interrupted their conversation. The teacher at the front of the room banged a large triangle ruler on the desk a few times, quickly silencing the rowdy classroom.
Ning Chu couldn’t be bothered with Zhang Shaoqing’s endless chatter, focusing instead on her search for sample reflections online.
Three thousand words... there was no way she could write that from scratch. Copying one outright was too risky, so she decided to splice together bits from seven or eight different reflections to save time.
There were still three whole days until Wen Yang returned...
Unconsciously, images of him floated into her mind again.
He had left around six last night, and now it was nearly ten in the morning... Almost twenty hours had passed!
She’d never been apart from Wen Yang for so long.
Her mood dipped further as she rested her head on her arms, staring blankly at the back of the student in front of her.
If Wen Yang were here, she wouldn’t have gotten chewed out by the counselor. And she definitely wouldn’t have had to endure Zhang Shaoqing’s relentless teasing with no one to comfort her.
If Wen Yang were here, he could help her with the reflection, provide advice on her growing pile of problems, share the weird things she encountered—like that guy in the bathroom earlier—and even decide what they should have for lunch.
Ning Chu pursed her lips in frustration.
How had Wen Yang become such a constant in her thoughts, filling her mind as soon as they were apart?
She hadn’t even worried this much when she was waiting to get paid!
It was like... she might actually be falling for him.
