Chapter 44: The Dorm
"Kids! Your dad's back!"
Early in the morning, the dorm door was kicked open, and Zhang Shaoqing swaggered into the room.
“Man, coming back to the dorm feels just like coming home!”
He turned to close the gate outside to prevent their pet, Heidou, from sneaking out and getting lost. Then, he quickly scanned the room.
“Why is nobody paying attention to me?”
He looked over at Ning Chu, who was sitting at the edge of her bed, her expression practically screaming that she was shutting down mentally. “Hey! Where’s Wen Yang?”
“In the bathroom.”
“Well, at least your hubby hasn’t run off, so why the long face?”
“...”
Zhang Shaoqing mumbled as he walked over to her bed, rising on his tiptoes to dangle a breakfast bag in front of Ning Chu. “Want some? I got rice noodle rolls from outside the school.”
Ning Chu glanced up briefly, yawned, and shook her head.
“What's with you?”
All she could think about was how to get through the next few days without Wen Yang around.
Since coming here, she had never been separated from Wen Yang for a long period of time. Just thinking about him leaving made her chest tighten.
At some point, it seemed she had become completely dependent on him.
Ning Chu hugged her knees, resting her chin on them, curling into a ball.
This wasn’t how things were supposed to be... Sure, she wasn’t some towering pillar of masculinity before, but she had always been independent. Now, she didn’t feel like herself at all.
“You’re back early?” Wen Yang walked into the room from the balcony, casually greeting Zhang Shaoqing.
“Yeah, I brought breakfast. Ning Chu didn’t want any, so eat up.”
“Sure.”
He took the two portions of rice noodle rolls from Zhang Shaoqing and then glanced over at Ning Chu. “You really don’t want any?”
Ning Chu perked up but quickly waved her hand dismissively. “I don’t like rice noodle rolls. You have them.”
“Skipping breakfast can give you low blood sugar.”
“Then go get me something from the cafeteria?”
“Alright.”
As soon as Wen Yang left the dorm, Ning Chu deflated again, her face gloomy as she scrolled through her phone.
Zhang Shaoqing glanced at her over his shoulder and grumbled, “Are you seriously giving me the cold shoulder?”
She simply didn’t want to look too down in front of Wen Yang.
Acting that way would make it seem like she really couldn’t live without him.
“Hey! Ning Chu.” Zhang Shaoqing suddenly pulled something out of his pocket, his voice full of excitement. “I went to a wedding yesterday and found an amazing treasure!”
“!!!”
Oh no! Another one of those villain props?
She hadn’t even had a chance to use that hypnosis spray yet!
Ning Chu immediately flipped over, leaning forward on her bed, eyes wide with curiosity. “What is it?”
“Just kidding!” Zhang Shaoqing opened his tightly clenched fist to reveal... nothing.
“...”
How childish can someone be?
He was just like those boys in elementary school who loved to tease girls.
Ning Chu rolled her eyes at him in exasperation. “You’re so immature.”

Still, his antics had cheered her up a bit.
After all, Wen Yang wasn’t taking time off until next week. Maybe by then, he’d decide not to leave at all?
It was better to focus on whether Wen Yang would run into any plot-related events while getting food from the cafeteria.
Just as that thought crossed her mind, her expression stiffened.
A wave of heat suddenly surged up from her abdomen, turning her cheeks a deep, suggestive pink as a flush spread across her skin.
Crap!
She quickly lay down on the bed, pulling the blanket over her head, biting her lip and gripping the sheets tightly as she tried to calm herself down.
Luckily, she had already vented some of this pent-up energy before, so this time the punishment wasn’t too severe. She could handle it.
“Wen Yang...”
Ning Chu gritted her teeth, struggling to endure.
What she really needed to worry about was how she would cope with these unpredictable surges when Wen Yang wasn’t around!
This time, she was in bed and could just hide under the blanket, but next time, who knew what situation she’d be in?
She had trained Wen Yang so well that he now rejected any girl who tried to approach him. Because of that, she often found herself unexpectedly enduring these punishments.
“Hey! Ning Chu, what do you want for lunch? Want to team up for a discount?”
Zhang Shaoqing walked over to her again, peeking at the lump under the blanket. “I saw this new restaurant! Should we try it?”
“...”
There was no way Ning Chu could speak right now.
If she opened her mouth, her voice would surely be sweet and seductive, and he would immediately know something was wrong.
Alone in the room with Zhang Shaoqing, who knew what he might do if he figured out her situation...
“What the hell! Ignoring me again!”
Zhang Shaoqing, clearly irritated, walked away muttering to himself, “I even went out of my way to get you breakfast, and this is the thanks I get.”
“Hey! Wen Yang’s being hit on by a girl at the cafeteria!”
“...”
“Tch!” When Ning Chu still didn’t react, Zhang Shaoqing finally gave up and returned to his computer, continuing to grumble under his breath.
About ten minutes later, Wen Yang returned with Ning Chu’s breakfast.
“I got you some braised noodles. Come eat,” he called, placing the food on the table. He then turned to Zhang Shaoqing, reminding him, “By the way, I recharged the electricity yesterday. Send me fifty yuan.”
“Sure. Hey, what’s up with Ning Chu? I tried talking to her earlier, and she completely ignored me.”
Wen Yang glanced over at Ning Chu, who had finally poked her head out from under the blanket. Her face was adorably flushed.
She seemed fine.
“Come on, eat.”
“Okay.”
Ning Chu had managed to survive the punishment, but she was still worried about the marks on her backside. She hesitated for a moment before swinging her legs over the edge of the bed.
She checked to make sure Zhang Shaoqing had his back to her, busy at his computer, and quickly climbed down.
“What the hell! Did you wet the bed or something?!”
The moment her feet hit the floor, that teasing voice made her freeze in place, her mind going blank.
Oh no, oh no!
But Wen Yang was quick to react. He immediately moved to stand behind her, blocking Zhang Shaoqing’s view, and provided a quick excuse. “She probably spilled water on herself in bed, right?”
“Yeah, that’s it!”
Ning Chu shot Wen Yang a grateful look as she hurriedly grabbed a pair of pants and dashed to the bathroom.
As for the mark on her backside, Wen Yang had definitely seen it... But since she’d practically thrown herself at him before, she wasn’t too embarrassed.
Besides, Wen Yang knew about her succubus identity, so he understood her situation.
“Going to the bathroom just to change pants? How troublesome.”
Wen Yang glanced over at Zhang Shaoqing, who was still mumbling to himself, his nerves on edge.
Feigning nonchalance, Wen Yang casually asked, “Hey, Shaoqing, do you ever think Ning Chu might actually be a girl?”
“You’ve read way too many webnovels! Or are you into traps now?”
Wen Yang let out a sigh of relief.
Even though Shaoqing often teased that Ning Chu should go to Thailand and have surgery to become a girl, he clearly had no clue that Ning Chu was already a girl.
And a succubus, at that...
Wen Yang rubbed his nose in frustration.
Wasn’t a succubus only supposed to go through these surges once every few days? Why was Ning Chu getting them once or twice a day?
And to top it off, she was living in a boys’ dorm. That was way too dangerous.
If Shaoqing or Wang Jie ever found out what was really going on, who knew what kind of thoughts they might have about Ning Chu...
He couldn’t allow that to happen!
