Chapter 9: Vampires and Shit
Yeon Doha’s original sister in the real world, let’s call her Noona, was a very simple minded person similar to Yeon Doha himself.
She was exactly three minutes younger than him but asserted dominance by violence and took the title of noona(older one).
Doha and Noona were very similar as they were twins but Noona was on a bit of a more intense side.
Doha was a sweet child while Noona was... affectionate?
More like she displayed her emotions too intensely.
But the problem started after she broke up with her boyfriend of five years.
Noona had just started her first job and had actually managed to land a pretty good salary.
The guy she was dating was a senior of Doha who he had a group project with during college. Noona came to know him through Doha and they immediately hit it off.
But that guy, let’s call him Fuckhead, decided to cheat on Noona. And she found out about it in the worst way possible.
Apparently Noona had planned a wedding proposal on the first day of her job. But what did she find when she came back earlier than the time she told Fuckhead?
Fuckhead was fucking another girl in the apartment Noona brought, in Noona’s bed and the girl was wearing Noona’s clothes. Her special new lingerie she brought for the night after the proposal.
As per the reports, Fuckhead had been doing this from the very start and was actually once arrested for sexual offense.
He was practically a bastard who couldn’t keep it in his pants.
Of course Noona hit him in the nuts hard enough that he had to keep it in his pants for months.
But the heart broken Noona had no outlet for her frustrations.
That is when she started having weird dreams about an omegaverse world with Jang Song-rik.
The same dream repeated everyday. For months, she kept witnessing the life a Jang Song-rik who suddenly becomes an omega.
She eventually started writing it down because she thought she would go insane if she didn’t.
And how did Doha know all this about Noona who lived separately?
Noona often came to Doha’s place drunk to vent. It was oddly similar to how Yohan kept coming there.
But the things Doha had seen Noona do because she was so hung up on her love with Fuckhead.
He never wanted to witness it again.
Doha wasn’t much good at comforting a drunk family member going through heartbreak, so he just sat there and listened to her whine until his ears bled.
He could see her slowly spiraling into craziness. She would vent out her frustrations on the characters in the novel by making their lives miserable.
Doha often thought that Yeon Doha’s character was based on Fuckhead with how many times the word ’trash’ was used in his description.
So it wasn’t really surprising that he was a trash character.
But... things were becoming strange now that the original novel had begun.
Characters were acting out of character when dealt with differently from the novel.
Doha figured it was maybe the famous butterfly effect like in those fantasy novels where one small change triggers massive development shifts in the story.
But, how come Jang Song-rik was so different from the novel from the very first encounter?
Is it because he and Doha met in different circumstances?
Was Song-rik really that kind of person?
The Song-rik he met was the cutest and most innocent person he had ever seen.
My Song-rik could never.
Doha blushed a little.
He continued washing the dishes. Song-rik had returned home after he couldn’t stop releasing pheromones because of how excited he was.
The situation would’ve taken a different turn if he didn’t leave.
Anyways, the plot of The Forgotten Flower was really all over the place since the objective of writing wasn’t creating a story but torturing the characters.
So... as a matter of fact... the reason why the novel is a tragedy is because Oh Ryujin dies at Jang Song-rik’s hand at the end it the novel.
Why, though? You might ask.
Because Oh Ryujin is a vampire.
Near the climax of the story, when it seemed like it was heading towards a happy ending, his psycho of a sister added a ridiculous twist.
She revealed Oh Ryujin to be a vampire and made him attack Song-rik’s child with Doha.
The kid died and Song-rik killed Oh Ryujin by stabbing his heart.
Because he lost both his husband and child, Song-rik become mentally unstable and spent the rest of his life in an asylum.
Wow, what a cliche.
Like seriously, anything? No context, no suspense, nothing and oh! He’s a vampire.
Doha still questioned people reading preferences and mental health as that fucking novel won a prize and became the year’s bestseller, making Noona a millionaire.
The absurdity of it all was so on point that it was questionable how Noona even put it all together.
Now back to the main concern.
Because the contents of the novel couldn’t be trusted completely, Doha had no choice but to rely on his own judgement.
He decided to live as kindest and most modest man alive that no one will think of him as trash.
Burning with passion, Doha went to sleep.
Jang Song-rik pulled up in front of his house and saw another car right outside.
"Who’s there, secretary Cha?" He glazed over.
"It seems your friend has come to visit," Secretary Cha replied awkwardly.
Song-rik immediately brightened up and ran out of the car and jumped the man standing there.
"Ryu! When did you return to the country?!" He squealed.
"Just today," A husky voice replied.
Oh Ryujin was a head taller than Song-rik. He had sliver hair with grey eyes. And paler than ghosts.
The bags under his eyes showed his exhaustion.
"Stay over, tonight! I have a mountain of things I want to catch up with you!"
Song-rik hopped inside the house.
Secretary Cha was now coming after parking the car in the garage.
He saw Oh Ryujin standing there alone looking in his direction.
Oh Ryujin smiled.
"Secretary Cha," he said softly. "It’s been a while."
Secretary Cha looked a little uncomfortable and nodded.
"Yes, President. It’s indeed been a while."
With that short greeting, Secretary Cha opened the door wider, signing Oh Ryujin to enter.
Ryujin chuckled and went inside.
As Ryujin was out of sight, Secretary Cha broke out into a cold sweat.
Oh Ryujin had this uncomfortable and creepy aura that always nagged at him. As if he wasn’t human.
Secretary Cha snapped himself out of the panic and adjust his tie.
He took off his ever present glasses and suddenly, it revealed a brilliant pair of green eyes.
Secretary Cha looked into the mirror in the doorway. Some of his blonde roots were poking out under the dyed black.
"I need to dye it again soon," he said, moving a hand through his hair.
A little star tattoo showed on neck by his loosened tie and it disappeared instantly when he tightened it back.
Secretary Cha put the glasses back on and went inside to Song-rik and Ryujin chatting on the sofa.
"Come join us, Secretary Cha," Ryujin offered with a mischievous smile.
Secretary Cha just stood there in his position ignoring the offer.
Ryujin chuckled and they continued the conversation.
