Chapter 10: Yeon Soohi

After a week of traveling Yeon Mirae and Yeon Soohi had returned home.

The Yeon household was very much like any normal family.

But they had one single rule that every member of the family had to obey no matter what.

Do not keep any secrets.

Keeping secrets had hurt the family in the past.

Doha’s father, Yeon Seogil, died by suicide because he hid the failing business from the family.

Doha almost became a runaway and criminal because he hid his struggle to run the family.

Doha’s mother, Yeon Mirae, almost died from cancer because she hid about her declining health.

So after Doha came back and started redeeming himself, the youngest of the family, Yeon Soohi, decided to take matters in her own hands.

All the others were too weakhearted according to her.

She made the one rule the family must abide under all circumstances.

There should be no secrets among the family members. No matter how bad you fuck up, the family must know.

This actually acted as a buffer preventing the members from getting into shitty situations because they didn’t want to tell the family about a shitty situation.

Especially for Yeon Doha, as Soohi called it, a leash on the mad dog of the family.

Now, after returning from a week long trip, and about to start college the next day, Yeon Soohi had sniffed something weird about her ’oppa’.

"Did you start going out with Yohan oppa?" Soohi asked as she held Doha by his neck.

"No," Doha made a disgusted face.

"Then why is our place reeking of omega pheromones?"

"... "

"... "

"... "

"Oppa, spill the fucking beans."

And another thing about Yeon Soohi.

Soohi was a dominant alpha. Same as Doha.

Which was strange.

Because both Seogil and Mirae were betas. So both kids being dominant alphas was a strange phenomenon.

Because they took after their good looking dad, his genealogy was traced and on single dominant alpha was found in the elders.

Soohi and Doha both inherited those genes.

And now those inherited genes had exposed the omega smell that Doha tried so hard to air out.

"What beans? There are no beans to spill," Doha’s eyes shook.

"Oppa. Do you think I can’t smell an omega’s pheromones used for mating?"

Soohi looked demonic. Her grip on Doha’s throat tightened.

"I... I am seeing an omega!"

Doha blurted out with a slight flush and then covered his face with his hands.

"Well, as long as it’s not Yohan oppa, I don’t really give a fuck," Soohi released Doha’s neck and picked up her bag and went to her room.

Doha felt taken advantage of.

But another problem had arised. His mother was standing right at the front door watching the entire act.

"Doha~," Yeon Doha felt chills on his back. "Who is this omega you were talking about?"

And after being interrogated by the mother-daughter duo for an hour straight, Yeon Doha had indeed spilled all the beans he had.

"Song-nik or Mong-nik, that guy’s clearly stupid," Soohi declared. "Otherwise why would he choose a failure like you."

"It’s Song-rik, Soohi."

Mirae was humming while cooking in the kitchen.

"Aw, did you say Song-rikki is very cute? Oh my, I’m so excited to meet my son-in-law! Have you decided when you’re getting married?"

"No! We haven’t even gone to our first date yet!"

Doha was now stuck and getting teased by two women about his partner.

It was to be expected as this was Yeon Doha’s first actual relationship, so everyone was happy for him one way or another.

"To be honest, I’d given up expecting any grandchildren from my son and only hoped Soohi would somehow bring home Yohan."

The mother made both the siblings jump with the statement.

"Yohan oppa and I are not like that!" Soohi yelled turning red.

"Yeah, yeah. We know that."

Doha stuck out his tongue at Soohi who in return got a hold of it and yanked it.

Writhing in pain, Doha tried free himself as their mother set the dinner table.

"Come eat, both of you," she announced.

Soohi freed the criminal’s tongue and wiped her hand with the victim’s shirt and turned to the kitchen.

"Wait a sec, lemme disinfect my hand."

Doha sat down immediately still moving his tongue around.

"You know we are happy for you, right, Doha?" the mother said, handing him the rice bowl.

Doha nodded bashfully.

"When you’re both ready, let us meet him. I know he’ll be a good person if you choose him."

Mirae set another rice bowl for Soohi and called for her.

Doha felt a tingling warmth in his chest.

A lot of things had happened that week when his family was away. But now that they were back, he could feel how much he missed them.

Even if they were not his real family, over the past three years he lived with them, he had known nothing but love.

But about letting them meet Song-rik...

Doha was still skeptical about that. He himself didn’t know how long this relationship would last.

He liked Song-rik. But not enough to risk his and his family’s safety.

If there ever came a moment when he felt threatened due to his connection with Song-rik, he would cut him off immediately.

Would I...?

Doha had no answer to that question and it left a bitter taste in his mouth.

Maybe... in the future... when the original story ends... something might... change...

Doha felt pathetic imagining such scenarios. He knew better than anyone else what would happen if he carelessly...

"I’m done," Doha stood up and took his plates to the sink. "Give me yours when you’re done."

Yes! Let’s not dwell on things that hasn’t even happened yet! I’ll wash away all bad thoughts along with these plates!

The sister and mother witnessed a kitchen deep cleaning that night.

"Secretary Cha," Oh Ryujin called behind the man running away from him in the parking basement.

"Cha Jihwan."

The secretary didn’t stop.

Ryujin looked plenty pissed. He had a little streak of blood at the corner of his mouth and his canines were slightly poking out.

"You should not provoke someone if you’re just going to run away!"

The secretary hid behind a pillar. His neck was bleeding from where his star tattoo was.

A scent of wet soil was oozing out of his blood and neck.

He was covering his mouth to shut himself as he was out of breath.

"Hiding won’t help when I can smell you miles away," Ryujin yanked up Cha Jihwan from the side suddenly and dragged the struggling man to his car.

Throwing him on the back seat, Ryujin entered himself and locked the doors.

Cha Jihwan looked as terrified as a mouse in a cat’s paw.

Ryujin softly removed his glasses as a pair of brilliant green eyes emerged dripping wet with tears.

A thick smell of sweetened blood filled the car. Oh Ryujin was releasing comforting pheromones.

"What would my dear friend think when he finds out that his trusted secretary had been lying about his secondary gender?" Ryujin taunted Jihwan as he poked his trembling cheek.

Cha Jihwan couldn’t utter a single word.

"It isn’t very nice of you to hide that you’re an alpha, Jihwan," Ryujin whispered to Jihwan as he pecked softly on the wouund on his neck.

Jihwan trembled.

"Hic... *sobs... P... Please don’t tell... t.. the director," Secretary Cha biggest as big tears rolled down his redenned cheeks from his glistening green eyes.

The bloody pheromones thickened.

"Give me something so I don’t."

Ryujin smiled mischievously as he gently took the crying man’s trembling lips in a deep kiss.
