Chapter 233: Chapter Two Hundred And Thirty Two

Damon stared at his cousin.

The logical, rational part of Damon’s brain should have realized that this was a misunderstanding. He should have realized that Camilla was simply talking to his cousin in a public store. He should have dropped his hand and asked a calm question.

But Damon was not rational at the moment. He was deeply poisoned by the intense, burning jealousy over the name Winston. His heart was too full of fear and possessiveness.

Because his brain could not find "Winston," it immediately created a new, even more twisted narrative to explain why his wife was laughing so happily with another man.

Damon’s mind came up with a terrible, dark misunderstanding, and he went along with it.

"She is not with Winston," Damon thought to himself, his dark eyes narrowing dangerously. "She is with Allen. My own cousin."

The jealousy did not fade. It mutated. It grew even darker and more violent.

Damon thought about how Camilla had looked at Allen at the grand ball. He remembered her internal thoughts calling Allen "handsome" and "polite." He remembered how angry that had made him.

"She likes him," Damon’s twisted mind roared. "She is laughing with him. He is trying to steal her away from me."

Damon lowered his left fist, but he did not let go of Allen.

Instead, Damon let out a very low, harsh chuckle. It was a chilling sound that held absolutely no humor. It sounded like the growl of a predator.

He moved his right hand from Allen’s coat collar. He moved his hand upward quickly and grabbed Allen directly by the throat.

Damon tightened his grip around Allen’s neck. He pushed his cousin backward, slamming Allen’s back roughly against the edge of the table.

"You dare," Damon growled softly. His voice echoed in the quiet store. His eyes burned with hatred.

Damon squeezed his fingers tighter, instantly cutting off Allen’s air supply.

"You dare seduce your sister-in-law, my wife, in broad daylight?" Damon accused him ruthlessly, his face leaning in close to his terrified cousin. "You dare covet what’s mine?"

Allen’s eyes bulged out of his head. He gasped for air, but nothing came into his lungs. He was shocked by the crazy accusation. Seduce his sister-in-law? He was just talking about fabric prices!

Allen raised both of his hands. He grabbed Damon’s wrist. He pulled and pulled with all his strength, desperately trying to remove Damon’s choking hand from his throat. But Allen was not a soldier. He wasn’t strong enough. Damon’s arm did not move a single inch. It felt like trying to bend solid steel.

Damon glared at the choking man. He tightened his grip even more. Allen’s feet began to kick weakly against the floorboards. Allen’s face rapidly turned a scary shade of purple.

"Tell me," Damon demanded coldly, watching his cousin suffocate. "Tell me how you want to die?"

Camilla stood a few feet away. She watched the sudden, extreme violence unfold in horror.

She finally snapped out of her confusion. She realized Damon was literally going to murder his own cousin right in front of her over an insane, imaginary affair.

Camilla quickly stepped forward. She reached out her hands and grabbed Damon’s sleeve, trying to pull his arm back.

"My lord, please stop," Camilla spoke quickly, trying to get through to him. Her voice was urgent and pleading. "He is your cousin! You are misunderstanding!"

Damon did not even blink. He ignored her touch. He did not hear her voice. He was blinded by the dark, roaring rage in his head.

He kept staring at Allen’s purple face, squeezing his throat tighter and tighter.

Allen’s eyes began to roll back into his head. His hands fell weakly away from Damon’s wrist. He looked like he could pass out and die at any minute.

Camilla realized polite words were useless. The man was totally lost to his own madness.

She pulled her hands off his sleeve. She took a step back to give herself space.

"My lord, stop this this instant!" Camilla commanded loudly, raising her voice to a sharp, angry shout.

Still, Damon did not move. He was a deaf, unfeeling monster focused only on killing the threat to his marriage.

Camilla knew there was only one way to snap a highly trained soldier out of a blind, murderous rage. She had to deliver a physical shock to his nervous system.

Camilla pulled her right arm back, twisting her waist to generate maximum power. She did not hold back. She used her full strength.

She swung her arm forward with explosive speed.

SMACK!

The sound was incredibly loud. It echoed like a gunshot throughout the entire, silent fabric store.

Camilla slapped Damon hard across the left side of his face.

The physical force of the slap was huge. It snapped Damon’s head sharply to the side. A bright, burning red handprint instantly bloomed across his cheek.

"DAMON, I SAID STOP!" Camilla shouted at the top of her lungs. Her voice was fierce, angry, and fearless.

The sharp, stinging pain on his cheek, combined with the loud sound of her shouting his actual name, acted like a bucket of freezing cold water dumped directly onto Damon’s brain.

The dark, red curtain of rage instantly vanished from his eyes. His pupils contracted. He blinked rapidly, suddenly aware of his surroundings again.

Damon instantly let go.

He opened his right hand, releasing his iron grip on his cousin’s throat.

Allen dropped like a heavy stone. He stumbled backward, away from the table. He bent over, resting his hands heavily on his knees.

Gasp! Cough! Cough!

Allen greedily sucked desperate breaths of fresh air into his burning lungs. He coughed violently, holding his bruised, red throat, tears streaming down his face as he thanked the heavens for his life.

Damon stood frozen in the center of the store.

His head was still turned slightly to the side from the force of the slap. His cheek stung fiercely with hot pain.

Slowly, Damon turned his head back to the front. He looked at Camilla.

She was standing right in front of him. She was breathing heavily. Her eyes were wide with anger. She glared up at him, looking absolutely furious that he had just behaved like a wild, uncontrollable beast.

Damon stared at her angry face. He looked at Allen coughing on the floor.

The terrifying, murderous aura faded away, leaving behind a very awkward, shocking silence.
