Life is unfair, so others say while others think otherwise. How can everything be labeled as fair?

Others are born rich while others are born poor. Some live slightly better than others while others know no peace.

Born and growing up in the same world, the same conditions and yet life still remains unfair, who can be blamed for such an atrocity?

However, if you look at it the other way, life can be truly fair as it is unfair to everyone. So, how can we still blame the heavens or the circumstances everyone is born with?

Alayna West was born in a middle-tier or average family where they weren’t the richest but also not the poorest. She wasn’t an only child but one of the five children her beloved parents birthed.

Being somewhere in the middle, she was overshadowed by those in front and those at the back. She was completely forgotten and fighting for a favor couldn’t even work in her situation.

In a family with three girls and two boys, material-wise she never lacked anything except for attention and some love.

She was basically twelve when she finally came to terms that she will never be able to attract her family’s attention no matter what she does. She wasn’t a studious person; she wasn’t capable as her siblings.

It’s not like she didn’t try to do better, it’s just that she just couldn’t do it. While her siblings were entering better schools, she barely passed to enter a slightly better one.

At the age of eighteen, she didn’t even hold a party, they have all practically forgotten about it and because at that time she was rebellious, her family barely cared about her so she devised a devious plan to attract their attention.

She became rebellious, created some clubs with others, and went drinking, smoking, and partying, and yet it only brought her wrath from them. They all looked at her with the eyes of disappointment, she was beaten and scolded.

At least to her as long as they remember that she was there although it was in a bad way, she was content. However, she unknowingly went astray. Failing her high school examinations woke her up.

The people she played with had their lives planned out for them and yet when she failed, her family was embarrassed by such a kid that they disowned her. getting disowned hit, her so hard that she fell into depression, and she who had always been unruly even found herself doing drugs.

Alayna was nineteen years old when she finally admitted herself into a rehabilitation center to get better. After seeing others progressing, her siblings and parents not caring for her, she decided to do something no one expected to get some revenge on them.

By only becoming better than them, won’t they feel as if their faces were slapped?

So, Alayna who finally made up her mind, took the rehabilitation seriously and got better in a year. There wasn’t much one could do without education, so she changed places and rewrote the high school examination again at the age of twenty-one and passed barely.

She couldn’t be blamed as some things can’t be forced but at least her hard work paid off and she passed, something that made her so happy but it was unfortunate that she was the only person there to celebrate as she didn’t have any friends.

Alayna didn’t have money to go to university and even if she decided to go to one, she could only get into a low-tier university and it will be difficult for her to get a nice job somewhere.

So, she opted for poly college which didn’t cost much besides she could get a loan and she did exactly that. Alayna chose Accounting and did two years there and got her Diploma.

She was twenty-three when she was done and just like any fresh graduate, she searched for a job and found one. Working with only a Diploma can be depressing but she was doing all of this to prove to herself first that she can do it.

As long as she sets her mind on it, she can do it and one day she will stand in front of her family and show them that she whom they discarded did it. Was that too much for her to ask?

However, life proved to be much more difficult than she thought. There was too much corruption in the world and climbing up the ladder even proved to be more difficult.

Since she couldn’t achieve anything while working for others, she decided to do something herself after all it is difficult to be rich while working for others.

So, she opened her own small company, she didn’t mind struggling at all, after all, who has had it easy before?

At the time she thought of starting her own, she was twenty-eight years old, she barely even dated as her dating was just a waste of time. When you have a goal to achieve, other things didn’t matter.

When you have a deep obsession, time can quickly pass and by the time you realize that you have gotten old, it will be already too late.

Alayna was simply too obsessed with obtaining things that she couldn’t get. What was even crazier was that in the eight years she operated her business, she still wasn’t able to even beat her youngest sister.

While she, who had been running a struggling business for eight years driving a car not even worth 100,000 her younger sister who was in her early twenties was driving a car worth all of her assets.

She didn’t even have a house to call her own, been renting for years and as if fate was laughing at her for trying to oppose fate, she even found that she was sick. Overworking brought afflictions to her body and she neglected it for a very long time and she was suffering from her ignorance.

If only one affliction hit her, she would have taken it easy but who knew that one day she met with the people she vowed to see when she has made it big in life in a funny way.

Alayna had not returned to the city where she grew up ever since she left so meeting her younger sister who treated her like air and even boasted in her presence about how they are only four children in the house as the other was dead and gone, that was the last straw for her.

If she had known that meeting her younger sister will bring too much calamity, she would have retired to the countryside and nurtured her health. Maybe she could have lived longer.

Alayna became very depressed; the stress caused the old habits she buried when she was young to surface. Although she didn’t take drugs again, she still drank like a maniac and wasted her life.

Her actions had consequences, her company went bankrupt and that broke the dam wall.

When one is faced with a lot of things and depression included, it is quite easy to make a rash decision, not think clearly and function properly.

While driving home one night during a rainy night as well, a dog suddenly rushed into the road and Alayna swerved the car in another direction.

The car headed straight for the trees, there was no panic in her eyes, no sadness, she just closed her eyes and accepted whatever was coming.

And just like that, the woman who had toiled so hard all her life to become someone just died like that without even achieving any goal she set for herself.

She died a loser and as for how she will be remembered when gone, she will never be able to see it.

At least when she perished, she only has one wish, ’if there is an afterlife, let me have a fulfilling life, one without difficulties. I just want to be happy and live my own life without worries, hardship, and sickness.’

No one really knows what happens when you are gone, no one really knows whether heaven truly exists or if there is truly any deity who listens to the woes of the living but for Alayna, her cries were heard.

She who had struggled all her life received a second chance in life but who would ever think that ...... life wasn’t a bed of roses.

Who would ever think that ....? she will receive a second chance in life but instead of the usual gold fingers granted with transmigration or reincarnation, she will end up in the body of a ...… waste.

Life indeed is truly unfair but what can we do about it?
