Chapter 7: Chapter 7: Similar Product
Ye Lingyue stared at Ye Lingrui with narrowed eyes, daring him to say no. She was slowly becoming more impatient.
They had to be quick and resume their activity on gathering the herbs, but he was currently dawdling even just to answer one question.
She glared at him.
Ye Lingrui smiled and sighed. "If that’s what Yue’er wants, what can I do? I won’t do things that make her unhappy."
Rolling her eyes, she turned around and began to walk to grab the herbs again.
Fortunately, she had put one medicine box inside her storage space before, so she could sneakily put some herbs inside while the rest went to the medicine box in Ye Lingrui’s hand.
It was just a small amount, and she was sure that Ye Lingrui wouldn’t notice.
She secretly glanced at him again as she put the ginseng in the medicine box. He doesn’t find it weird they are just grabbing all the medicine like that?
Based on their price, the medicinal herbs should be considered as valuables, right?
"How did you escape the imperial guard’s monitoring?" Ye Lingyue asked carefully.
Ye Lingrui tilted his head, and then, he pulled something out of his robe. Ye Lingyue’s pupils constricted upon seeing the familiar bottle of powder.
It was similar to the hallucinogen powder she had used on these imperial guards before. She stepped toward him, wanting to snatch the bottle from him.
Ye Lingrui sidestepped, raising his eyebrows at her. However, Ye Lingyue wasn’t embarrassed or deterred by her loss—her hand reached out again, wanting to inspect what it was.
Alas, Ye Lingrui already anticipated her next move and raised his bottle high.
Ye Lingyue’s cheeks puffed up. She couldn’t reach him! The third son of the Ye family was unexpectedly quite tall.

"Give it to me," Ye Lingyue told him.
Now, she understood why it was hard to pretend in front of him. Ye Lingrui knew how to push all her buttons, doing things that drive her crazy.
"Is that how you speak to your older brother?" Ye Lingrui waved the bottle in front of her almost teasingly.
Ye Lingyue really didn’t have the energy to argue with him right now. Stiffly, she said, "Third Brother, please give me the medicine bottle. I want to take a look."

Ye Lingyue’s scheme succeeded, but of course, the two quickly made up again and cleared their misunderstanding because of their protagonist halo.
Her eyes carefully scanned the hallucinogen powder. She inspected it a few times and was sure that this hallucinogen product was from the same source as hers.
She shamelessly pocketed the hallucinogen powder and asked Ye Lingrui. "Where did you get it from?"
Ye Lingrui didn’t get angry at her attempt to steal the item away. "The hovels in the eastern district."
She blinked, pretending not to know where it was and said in a low-voice. "Show me the place if we can visit the Capital again..."
After all, they would be sent to some faraway land after this.
"What is it for?" She tilted her head.
"Yue’er can scatter the powder. People will become weak and experience hallucinations, causing a lapse in perception for a short time," Ye Lingrui patiently explained like a responsible elder brother.
"But, you can’t carelessly use it on people–" his words were cut off as white powder landed on his face.
Ye Lingyue giggled slightly, snatching the medicine box in his arms. She dared to use it on Ye Lingrui also because she was well aware it had no side effects besides the hallucinations.
Before she framed Shen Jinzhi, she had tried the powder on herself a few times, testing her own perception during the time she was affected by it.
It was truly a mind-altering powder.
Before she knew it, she was already lost in hallucinations.
She didn’t believe this item wouldn’t work on Ye Lingrui, someone who looked like a weak scholar. Among the Ye family’s brothers, he had the weakest presence.
