Chapter 4: Chapter 4: The Unusual Ye Lingrui
Ye Lingrui rubbed his chin thoughtfully.
"Yue’er doesn’t have such a thoughtful look on her face. No matter what I say, as long as I don’t raise my voice, she will giggle and just clap her hands," he muttered, frowning.
"Tell me, are you a ghost possessing my sister’s body?" He frowned at his own conjecture, looking at Ye Lingyue as though he was ready to get a Taoist to expel the ghost from inside her body.
Ye Lingyue’s heartbeat quickened. She didn’t know how a fool should act! Because currently, she was a normal human without a golden finger at all.
There was no System who would serve as a pointer and give her details about the fourth miss from the Ye family!
Upon hearing Ye Lingrui’s words, she panicked. She actually also didn’t know how she ended up in this girl’s body after she died as Shen Wuqing.
In case she entered this body after the original owner had died, wouldn’t that make her a ghost? A Taoist would definitely take out her soul and send her into reincarnation.
How could she return to modern life and enjoy the luxurious wealth she promised then? She didn’t want to be reincarnated here in the ancient times where a lot of men have three wives and four concubines!
Ye Lingyue just stared at Ye Lingrui, already preparing to bolt out of the room.
"Yue’er..." Ye Lingrui called again. She blinked.
He studied her face more carefully, pondering something. "Could it be that you have recovered?"
A deep frown marred his forehead as he thought about something. His eyes flashed, and he grabbed her hand so suddenly that she was startled. "Yue’er, call me third brother."
"Third Brother!" She blurted out accidentally without thinking.
Ye Lingrui widened his eyes. "Call me again!"
Upon seeing the surprise in his eyes, Ye Lingyue felt somewhat uncomfortable. The fact that Ye Lingrui was focusing on this instead the fact that the Ye family was on the brink of exile was just too strange.
"Third Brother..." she called out unwillingly, just to get him to shut up.
If he were going to tell her to call him again, she might go absolutely crazy.
Ye Lingrui squeezed her hand, taking a deep breath. "That Taoist Master is actually right... he said you will recover, Yue’er."
"Looking at you now, it seems that you have started to understand our words," he added, seemingly genuinely happy.
Ye Lingyue was taken aback. What does that mean? Her arrival had already been predicted by a Taoist Master? She couldn’t help but become slightly worried.
How much does this Taoist Master know about her... or perhaps was he just a fake taoist who wanted to scam the Ye family by making them feel happy?
"Unfortunately..." Ye Lingrui frowned worriedly upon thinking about their current predicament. He suddenly got up and sighed. "I don’t know what happened to Eldest Brother... why did they..."
He didn’t continue. Suddenly, he turned to Ye Lingyue again. His eyes flickered.
Ye Lingyue became alert, and she suddenly thought. Is this Ye Lingrui speaking the truth or merely testing her by mentioning some stupid Taoist Master?
A thought flashed in her mind.
She suspected that it’s this Ye Lingrui who has now become a fool instead. Since it was the imperial decree, this matter was already truly grave!
They should prepare for exile and start packing.
"Packing!" She said, pointing to the accessories on the table and couldn’t resist herself from reminding him.
Ye Lingyue secretly prayed in her heart that she still had the small space when she first transmigrated into this world. She almost forgot to check since she almost never used it.
This space actually had stayed with her longer than the System’s awakening.
It started a few years ago when she had to act infatuated with the Second Prince and disturbed his love story with her cousin, Shen Jinzhi.
Soon, Ye Lingyue’s eyes lit up.
She still had the space. It wasn’t that big, but it was definitely enough to smuggle a few jewelries. She glanced at Ye Lingrui, racking her brains on how to send him away.
"Alright, I will help you pack." Ye Lingrui muttered, and he got up.
Ye Lingyue was completely dumbstruck. This guy! Doesn’t he realize this is a young girl’s boudoir? Even if he was her brother, it was still awkward.
She also got up. Determined to keep her act as a fool temporarily, she began to push Ye Lingrui toward the door and shook her head. "Packing!"
Ye Lingrui’s eyes flashed. "Do you want me to pack my own belongings?"
She nodded.
This Ye Lingrui somewhat gave her a strange feeling. Inexplicable but not malicious. All the servants had been crying. Even Madam Ye and the second son were panicking.
It was only him who was so calm.
Suddenly, an imperial guard came up to them and asked sternly. "Are you two done packing?!"
Ye Lingyue trembled, pretending to be scared. With her eyes filled with fear, she shook her head furiously. Then, she pushed Ye Lingrui out.
She hurriedly closed the door.
Her hearing sense was good. After she did that, she could hear Ye Lingrui explaining to the imperial guard for her.
"Imperial Guard, my apologies. My sister is easily scared..."
The imperial guard also proved to be quite a stern one. "Why did she have to close the door again? Let me go in and check!"
Ye Lingyue secretly cursed this stubborn imperial guard. How can she rummage the place for any valuables if there he were to watch over her?
Fortunately, Ye Lingrui seemed to be there to save the day. "Imperial Guard, I will also go to pack..."
She didn’t listen anymore, heaving a sigh of relief.
Her eyes landed on the box of jewelries on the bedside table. How many could she take with her?
