Chapter 292: Fake blood.
Sienna’s voice tore through the tent like a blade. It was desperate, shrill and trembling with a terror that seemed too raw to be faked. "Elias. Elias." She wailed, clutching her abdomen as if her very soul were unraveling.
The agents froze, their interrogation collapsing into chaos. Lenard’s eyes narrowed, suspicion flickering. "Stop them," He ordered the agents to stop the relatives who were rushing in to help Sienna. He was sure she was pretending. They all knew she was not pregnant, but the king suspected she had a big secret, and he would get it out of her today.
"Blood!!" Linera screamed.
Lenard’s eyes widened in shock. Even he could not ignore the sudden crimson drops staining the ground beneath Sienna.
Elias burst into the tent like a storm. His aura was sharp, his mental strength surging on waves that made people tremble or scream. He unleashed his power, shredding the interrogation equipment like screens, wires and monitors into shards of useless metals. The agents gasped as millions worth of technology crumbled under invisible force.
He punched Lenard on the jaw and scooped Sienna into his arms. Her body trembled against his chest as he strode out with the authority of a king protecting his queen.
Blood dripped from her legs, staining his white clothes. The sight set off more panic among the relatives. In their minds, they knew this had to be fake, but the visceral image of blood spilling from her body struck terror into their hearts. Even if she was not pregnant, it was not impossible that she was suffering from some other ailment. She was human, maybe this equipment had triggered it.
"Did you hurt her?" Grandpa Corven barked at Lenard.
Lenard huffed. "I did not lay a hand on her."
Linera growled. "You must have done something." She wanted to attack, but the agents kept getting between her and Lenard. They had weapons facing every falcon, in case someone tried to fly and attack.
Uncle Jorik pointed to Lenard and declared, "I don’t want the position anymore. Keep the damn mess to yourselves. If anything happens to my niece, we will sue all of you."
Mrs. Miller collapsed to her knees, wailing, clawing at the earth. Before she could make verbal utterances, Numia joined her, even more dramatic than Mrs. Miller.
"Beast gods, please spare her. Take me instead." She wailed.
The compound descended into a mess of relatives shouting, crying or clutching each other. Lenard gritted his teeth. Under such circumstances, what could he do or say. This whole family was full of scammers.
He touched his ear and updated the king, speaking in hurried tones. "Your Highness, Sienna is bleeding. The fox lord destroyed most of our equipment. It looks like.....a miscarriage." His words were shaky, uncertain, but a part of him had a feeling that this would be the claim the couple would make.
Lenard stood rigid, his tail lashing with agitation. He had prepared for lies and resistance, but not for this. He thought though catching Sienna and her family off guard would give them the advantage. But they were the ones caught in a trap now. The sight of blood, Elias’s fury, the relatives hysteria--it was a mixture of chaos that stripped him of control.
"Ah, my stomach." Numia cried out dramatically, rolling from side to side.
Some of the relatives groaned. Numia was not a good actress. She was ruining things for Sienna! Who had asked her to play along? Did she have to compete with Sienna in everything, including a fake miscarriage?
"Blood, I have blood too?" She claimed.
Nobody could see a drop of blood on her or even sniff it. But Christo rushed her away anyway.
Lenard pressed his thumbs to the sides of his head. His agents hovered, unsure whether to intervene or retreat.
Meanwhile Sienna was swiftly carried into the bedroom, her body limp but her eyes flickering with cunning beneath the mask of pain. Elias laid her gently upon the bed, his hands trembling despite his outward composure.
"Doctor!" he barked. "Where is the damn doctor?"
Within moments, the doctor arrived, summoned by the urgency that had spread like wildfire through the compound. With steady hands, he examined Sienna. He checked her pulse manually and with a device. He checked her abdomen, the source of the blood.
After a tense silence, her straightened, his expression calm. "She is fine," he said firmly. "It is simply her period and some fake blood?" He tilted his head, uncertain why both those things had appeared at the same time.
The words fell like stones into the room. Relief mingled with confusion as Elias stared at his wife. "You could have given me a heads up."
She shrugged. "It was an emergency." She had started keeping a small tube of fake blood on her body for a moment like this and she was glad for it. If not, who knew what secrets she would be spilling to Lenard right now.
Elias’s eyes narrowed, his mind racing. He leaned close to the doctor, his voice low and commanding. "You will not say that. To them, it is a miscarriage. Do you understand?" His tone was sharp, brooking not argument.
The doctor nodded and bowed his head. "Yes, my lord. It is a miscarriage."
Sienna’s lips curved faintly, the ghost of a smile hidden beneath her feigned exhaustion. Her ploy had worked. Lenard’s interrogation had come to an end, replaced by confusion and fear. Her relatives panic had shielded her, their terror lending credibility to her act. And now, with a doctor’s words, the narrative was sealed: a tragic miscarriage, a loss that demanded sympathy and compensation, not suspicion.
Elias sat beside her, his hand gripping hers tightly. His eyes burned with a mixture of fury and protectiveness. "I knew there would be an interrogation and deep background search, but I had no idea they would use dream hypnosis serum."
She squeezed her eyes for a moment. "They almost got me for a moment. He asked me who I was and what I was hiding. I started seeing false memories and losing control of my thoughts. It was getting dangerous."
He patted the back of her hand. "You are safe now," he whispered, though his voice trembled with the weight of what had just transpired.
Sienna closed her eyes, letting the warmth of his presence wash over her, though inside her mind she was already calculating the next move.
