Chapter 69: The Sky Mother’s Gift (2)
"The Sky Mother’s gift," Maeve replied with a small smile. "She said these seeds grow much faster than the grass in our world, but we have to make sure the grass never spreads beyond the fenced area."
Ikarus looked at her, puzzled. Earlier, she had also warned everyone that not even a drop of blood could touch the wooden fence. Now these seeds came with another unusual rule.
For a brief moment, he couldn’t help but wonder if these gifts truly came from the Sky Mother or from some evil entity.
The thought lingered only for a second because Maeve had done nothing but help the Azuryn Tribe since the day she arrived. She had shared her knowledge, solved one problem after another, and never asked for anything in return.
Whatever the truth was, she had never given him a reason to doubt her, so Ikarus simply nodded. "I understand," he said. "We’ll make sure the grass stays inside the fence."
Maeve let out a sigh of relief. "Thank you."
She had expected more questions, but Ikarus chose to trust her instead and that trust made her heart feel unexpectedly warm.
A moment later, Ikarus raised his hand and motioned for the other tribe members to come inside the fence and everyone gathered around him at once.
"These are grass seeds given to us by the Sky Mother," Ikarus announced. "So be very careful while spreading them across the soil."
The tribe members immediately straightened their backs, even Elder Vax’s expression turned serious as he carefully accepted one of the bags.
"A gift from the Sky Mother..." he murmured with awe.
Ikarus gave a small nod. "Spread the seeds as evenly as possible. And remember..." He paused before continuing, "The grass must never grow beyond the fence. If you see even a single blade spreading outside this area, pull it out immediately."
Everyone looked at one another in confusion, but no one questioned the order. "Understood!" they answered in unison.
Without wasting any time, they carefully opened the bags and began scattering the tiny seeds across the newly restored field, treating every handful as though it were a precious treasure.
Standing beside Ikarus, Maeve watched the scene with a small smile. Now all they could do... was wait for a miracle to grow.

About a week later, the grass had finally grown tall enough. For the first time in a long while, no one had to search the settlement or the nearby forest for the last patches of grass.
The field inside the fence had turned into a sea of fresh green, swaying gently in the wind.
"It’s beautiful..." Maeve whispered. She had seen countless fields of grass back on Earth, but this one felt different.
The field stretched out before them in a rich shade of green, with each blade tipped in a soft orange that shimmered under the sunlight.
As Maeve watched the Clouds happily grazing on the fresh grass, she couldn’t help but smile because the scenery in front of her looked so beautiful that it reminded her of a wallpaper on a phone or computer screen.
To be honest, this scenery made Maeve feel much better.
Since her pregnancy would only last three months, her belly was growing much faster than the pregnancies she had seen back on Earth. Her stomach, which had only been slightly round before, had now grown noticeably larger.
Sometimes, she still found herself staring at her belly in disbelief. It had only been a short time since she arrived in this world, yet she was already going to become a mother. The whole thing still didn’t feel real.
But more than that, her breasts had also started to feel sore as they slowly began producing milk, which felt a little ridiculous because her due date was still two months away.
There wasn’t much milk yet, but it was still annoying. She had to gently massage her breasts to release it so they wouldn’t keep aching.
[Your body is just preparing itself, Host!]
[Besides, human women can also start producing breast milk during the third trimester. Since you basically skipped straight to the third trimester, this is completely normal!]
Before she was able to reply to Pinky, Axan suddenly walked over and stopped beside her, his gaze settling on the field where the Clouds were happily eating.
"It looks like they really like the grass," he said in a flat tone.
Maeve smiled and nodded. "Of course they do. They’re basically sheep in my world. Wait... are there normal sheep in your world?"
Axan let out a sigh. "There are. But after this world began to fall apart, ordinary sheep couldn’t survive as well as the Clouds."
He watched the fluffy creatures grazing peacefully across the field. "They might still exist somewhere, but their numbers must be very small and they’re definitely not here."
He finally turned to Maeve. "Did you also raise livestock in your world?"
Maeve shook her head. "I’m not a farmer. Well, technically, we do have farms, but they sell the meat at the market, and I buy it there."
"The market?" Axan frowned.
’Oh, damn it! I just introduced capitalism to him!’
Maeve quickly forced a smile. "It’s just... a place where people exchange things," she explained. "If I want to get meat, I have to give something in return."
There has to be bartering in this world, right?
At least that’s better than blurting out the idea of money.
Axan thought about it for a moment. "So... instead of every family raising their own animals, some people specialize in raising livestock and exchange the meat for other things?"
Maeve opened her mouth to answer, but the words caught in her throat because she noticed Axan’s gaze suddenly shift downward.
His expression remained calm, but there was a hint of concern in his eyes. "Maeve."
"Hm?"
"You’re leaking," he said quietly, his eyes briefly falling to the damp spot on the front of her dress before he quickly looked away.
