Goldie Thorne wiped his mouth, reluctantly tearing his eyes away. He pulled his buddies aside and laid out a simple plan. "I’ll break down the door. Forrest, you grab the cheating couple’s clothes. Rudy, Pax, you’re with me—we’ll grab them."

"Got it."

His three buddies nodded excitedly. Forrest and Rudy were cousins, and Pax was also from Xavier Village. They were all idle loafers who got along great with Goldie Thorne.

Jim Thorne wanted to go in too but was held back by Adrian Hawthorne. "You and Armstrong, watch for my signal. When I give it, go out to the street and start shouting. You know what to say, right?"

"We know."

Jim Thorne and Armstrong Huxley eagerly headed downstairs. Just as they reached the ground floor, Goldie Thorne kicked the door open. The tremendous crash startled the illicit lovers inside. Phoenix Golding shrieked and scrambled for her clothes, but the short, stout man was slightly more composed, trying to see who had burst in.

Adrian Hawthorne, with a young girl named Tang Xiaonan in tow, gave a wave. Jim Thorne and Armstrong Huxley took the cue and immediately ran into the main street, shouting, "We’ve caught some adulterers! They’re not wearing a stitch of clothing! What a disgrace!"

After a few shouts, half the town had heard and came running to watch the spectacle. Jim Thorne and Armstrong Huxley described the scene in vivid detail.

"They’re in there, not a stitch of clothing on them, and they’re not married!"

Hearing they weren’t a married couple, the enthusiastic crowd grew even more excited. They loved this kind of sensational drama. No clothes? They knew instantly this was major gossip.

"What if they jump out the window?" Goldie Thorne asked, still worried.

Adrian Hawthorne sneered. "Their clothes are out here. It’d be even better if they jumped. That’s a main street out there."

Unless that cheating couple wanted to streak in public. That would certainly make them even more famous.

"Where are the adulterers?" The first to rush over were a few women, brimming with excitement, their eyes like searchlights.

"In here!"

Goldie Thorne waved them over and opened the door wider. The scene inside was perfectly clear. The cheating couple was cowering under the bed, refusing to come out. But there was only so much space under there, and the man was short and stout, so even hunched over, a large patch of pale flesh was visible, almost blindingly so.
