Chapter 329: Titan’s Heart Vial [ 3 ]
Before I could immerse myself in my thoughts any longer, I suddenly heard a footstep behind me. When I glanced back, I spotted a very familiar figure. It was the figure of none other than a tall white-haired man. His white eyes locked onto me, and they held a fair bit of disdain.
This was the same man who had tried to kill me, the same Divine Beast that was contracted with Wilhelm. If I recall correctly, Indra called him Ajax.
So even though I didn’t know what was happening, I was intent on playing the part.
"Ajax?" I called out, causing him to raise a brow.
"You’re still alive? I thought they had hit you pretty hard. Guess you’re pretty sturdy for someone so stupid," he replied.
I rolled my eyes, then glanced down, finding the most random thing to shit talk I could. "If only your ego was as inflated as your prostate."
"...What?"
"It’s nothing."
I stood up and dusted myself off, acting like nothing happened. I was around a head shorter than my usual height, but the sheer amount of muscle I had, as well as my strength, was crazy. This Gift too... The Everlasting Flames.
With a single thought, I managed to manifest them. The moment I did, Ajax took a step back, his expression one of disbelief.
"The fuck are you doing, swinging those flames around?"
"My bad. I was just a little unsure whether I still had energy left," I replied with a hum.
He rolled his eyes. "What a funny joke. No one’s laughing. We’re blessed enough to have an infinite amount of Divine Energy and Divine Aura, so just keep using it. Our ancestors already paid for it."
"Mm... Are we just a bunch of nepo babies?"
"What’s a nepo baby...? No. What are you even saying? Did you hit your head or something? Ever since you woke up, you’ve been spouting nothing but nonsense," Ajax lashed out, then rubbed the bridge between his eyebrows.
"You know what? Don’t answer that. Come with me. The others are waiting."
I nodded at him and then glanced around. There were plenty of corpses surrounding me, and although I hadn’t noticed, I was currently standing on the skull of somebody. It felt squishy, but that was probably because, with how much strength I currently had, I could probably destroy this world in one punch.
But then again, was this the strength of every single one of the Divine Beasts? If I even wanted to get remotely close to something like this... I would need to be at least a Grade 200, no?
And for a world where Grade 90 was already considered the best of the best, even Grade 100 was barely achievable. Just how was I supposed to compete against these kinds of powerhouses?
Letting out a sigh, I really considered just taking Clementine and her family, then traveling through space until I found some kind of habitable planet. That would surely beat whatever this shitshow was.
Welp.
Whatever.
I decided to just go on ahead and follow this guy. We took our sweet time despite having the ability to cross this world in the blink of an eye. Truthfully, I appreciated it, since in the time we walked, I was able to get some work done.
For one, I was able to figure out just how these flames worked. They essentially devoured light and matter, so if I were to toss them at someone, they would practically disintegrate in an instant.
Not to mention, there was also the bonus of these flames never going out. So if I were to set one of these corpses on fire, the only way the flames would vanish would be if they consumed the corpse first, leaving nothing, not even the bones behind.
I also realized if I set the terrain on fire, those flames would spread and practically envelop the world. So if I was ever in the mood, I could just drop a spark in the middle of the forest, and within one hour, the whole world would end.
It was... Well, I was confused about how a Gift like this was even achievable. Just what kind of lineage did these Divine Beast guys have? To be able to do something like this was just... Well, obviously fucking crazy.
Regardless of that though, we eventually arrived at our destination. As it so happened, it was a small camp. There were a few tents, and several dozen powerful presences on the inside. But there were two that stood out the most.
We entered the camp, and to my surprise, every single person there was, well, humanoid, but not really human. Almost like they were all Divine Beasts, just not as mature and strong as us.
By default, I received a bunch of nods and kind gestures, all the way until I reached the main tent where the two most powerful presences were. The moment Ajax moved the flaps aside, I saw two very familiar beings, dressed in golden robes to accentuate their long white hair and white eyes.
These two were, of course, none other than Indra and Rachel. Indra seemed the same as always, except her body wasn’t the same. It led me to believe that even the person I had met back in the Demon Realm wasn’t exactly her.
But then again, she did use Merilyn’s body to talk to me. It’d make a lot of sense if her actual body was elsewhere. As for Rachel though, she looked the same as when I freed her, except unlike her grotesque form that I initially saw, this was her humanoid form.
And by regular standards, she was pretty. Though, she did have a resting bitch face, so I could tell she and I probably wouldn’t get along that well.
Anyhow, now that we were inside the tent, and I recognized all of these people, I guess it was time to figure out just what I was doing here to begin with.
