Chapter 327: Titan’s Heart Vial [ 1 ]
"How are you feeling?" I asked, sitting a little closer to her.
She didn’t respond. Instead, she went ahead and glanced down at her hands, inspecting them. Her forearms had some veins, and although she wasn’t expecting to like them, she actually loved them.
The thought that Amon would have them too allured her, but she kept it to herself as she went ahead and coughed, allowing the leftover Aura to escape through her mouth and dissipate into the air.
Finally, she turned toward me and smiled.
"I think I’m okay. I definitely feel stronger. My diamond skin is tougher too. On that note, can we do a little test?"
A test?
"What is it?"
"Mmm... I’m going to use diamond skin, and I want you to punch me. I want you to increase your punching power if nothing happens. Oh, and don’t use Divine Energy right off the bat. I’d probably be dead in an instant."
Hah.
"You want me to punch you?"
A faint pout appeared on her face. "Don’t start caring about my wellbeing out of nowhere. We’re going to get in more serious fights later on, so I want to see just how much I can rely on my diamond skin before I have to dodge an attack. You’re my best lead to figuring that out, so don’t hold back, understand?"
I stared back at her with a slightly conflicted expression. I knew for a fact she wasn’t a masochist, so for her to ask something like this... Ugh. I guess I had no choice, did I?
"Are we doing it outside?"
"Here is fine. Don’t worry, the walls are pretty sturdy, and my diamond skin also has the shock absorption perk, so it won’t scatter all the power around me. It’s safe."
I nodded at her, then gestured for her to stand up, so she did. In the next instant, she puffed out her chest and covered her entire body in diamonds. It was a very strong defense, and at a glance, I felt like she might be safe, so I decided to try it out right away.
I started with a simple punch that contained roughly the power of a Grade 20. As expected, she didn’t even budge. In fact, the diamonds had cut me a little. The injury healed quickly, and when it did, I decided to increase the intensity a little.
In the next instant, I hit Clementine with the force of a Grade 40. Yet again, there was nothing but a cut on my end, so I increased it further, reaching the strength of a Grade 52, the maximum Grade I could punch without any of my enhancements.
And finally, once it reached this amount of power, I saw a single spark fly off her diamonds as the shock absorption perk worked wonders. I then glanced at her eyes, thinking she must have felt something, but she just stared at me blankly, as if taunting me.
Seeing that, I felt like I could take yet another step to increase my power, and I did so by infusing my fists with Telekinesis, making them weigh several thousand tons. Not to mention, with my Telekinesis, I also increased the speed behind my attack.
So the moment I struck Clementine with this severely enhanced attack, a loud explosion resounded, which I wasn’t even able to hear because my eardrums burst. Finally, she took a single step back, almost like the strength of a Grade 70 was finally enough to make her feel something.
And yet...
"That was pretty strong, but it didn’t pierce my defenses... Could you throw a punch with Divine Energy, Amon?" Clementine asked out of nowhere.
Hearing that, I let out a sigh. "Are you sure? It’s most likely going to injure you pretty badly."
She shrugged. "It’s fine. Just don’t throw a punch straight at my abdomen, and avoid my heart. So long as you avoid those areas, I’ll live. So do it already."
With that, she pointed at an area I should punch, and realizing that I probably couldn’t talk her out of it, I decided to just go with it. I infused a little bit of Divine Energy into my fist and performed the same Telekinetic enhancement that I had earlier.
Just this time, the enhancement was several dozen times more effective. Therefore, without wasting any more time, I simply struck her where she pointed.
And just as I expected, my eardrums burst again as a whole chunk of diamonds flew off her body and embedded itself into the wall. As for Clementine, she spat out a mouthful of blood and clutched her chest, heaving heavily as she quickly inspected the area that I had broken through.
But aside from some bruising, it was sort of fine?
Still...
"You dummy..." I ruffled my hair in irritation. "Don’t ever ask me to do something like that again."
Clementine let out a chuckle and spat out yet another mouthful of blood. After wiping the blood off her lips, she said:
"It’s fine. I figured out the limit now. Or maybe I didn’t. How strong was that attack? You didn’t punch as hard as the last one, but it felt stronger."
I thought about it for a moment. "Around Grade 80 or so? I’d say Grade 75 is the safe zone, and everything above that could hurt you."
She nodded. "Looks like it. It’s your turn now, isn’t it? Go on and drink it. I’ll take care of the others. Oh? Kevin’s here too?" She glanced past me and spotted Kevin tossing pinecones at Jenna. It was a weird thing to do, but neither I nor Clementine said anything about it.
And finally, feeling like I could leave my back to her, I took out the vial and lay down on the bed. It was a little wet from all the sweat that had accumulated because of Clementine, but I didn’t mind it much.
So after getting comfortable and making sure she was ready too, I went ahead and drank the vial.
