Chapter 87: Re-Processing...
After a long while of Cassien simply looking up at the sky above while inputting his character points, his statistics rose quite drastically.
Now, the interface reflecting its blue light back at him looked a little more like this...

He ended up going for the more balanced approach, thus inputting twenty-five points into each section.
As Cassien continued to feel the gentle breeze from the rooftop, he couldn’t help but notice how wonderful everything felt.
’From up here... this world doesn’t feel like a death game at all.’
For a second, he wondered how his old planet was doing.
At the time of Alex’s transmigration, the year was 2027.
Then, the thought crossed his mind.
’Are there flying cars yet?’
That was something he always wanted to believe in.
A way to soar through the skies above and let all your worries wash away.
Or so he had thought.
He had never actually done it before, but simply going outside and lying down seemed to prove that theory.
He also wondered how Victoria was doing.
’She’s in the student council, so it makes sense I haven’t talked to her at all lately.’
Currently, Cassien was finally taking a simple break to slowly reminisce about everything.
’I know it’s kind of crazy... but I still can’t really believe I’ve transmigrated into this novel. It still feels like a fever dream.’
’A dream that someday I’ll just randomly wake up from.’
Who could really blame him?
The only conclusion Alex truly believed was that the author used some sort of black magic to place him, and some other readers, into this world.
Cassien slowly began pondering the future.
Events that would occur during the upcoming break.
That led him to rethink the black-market scheme he had been planning.
"Take me to my unlocked events please."
[Gladly 🙂]
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
[FUTURE EVENTS YET TO OCCUR: 1]
[The Underground Black Market Auction]
Date: December 30
Summary:
A secret auction held beneath Vanguard City where nobles, criminals, assassins, and corrupted officials gather to purchase illegal artifacts, slaves, forbidden mana tools, and Demon Core fragments.
Original Outcome:
Ren accidentally becomes involved after pursuing stolen academy documents. During the incident, Aiysha Moon is heavily injured while protecting him, while Victoria Platini uncovers evidence tied to future corruption within the academy itself.
Special Note:
One hidden buyer at the auction is secretly connected to the Demon Core experiments currently beginning across the kingdom.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
He hadn’t really thought much of it at the time, but it clicked further down his spine now.
Cassien was specifically thinking about Adam and Jameson.
The two individuals he murdered inside those taverns.
’Who were the ones that gave both of them those Demon Cores...?’
’Receiving one that is pure and healthy is incredibly rare.’
Unless you had a high-tier legendary skill, there was no real way to bring back a Demon Core without killing the monster and damaging the jewel first.
The fact they seemed to be in perfect condition, without any visible cracks or stitching, felt quite bothersome.
He didn’t question it at the time, but now, simply knowing the entire situation was potentially a setup irked him.
’It’s annoying... but you can’t change the past.’
All Cassien had to do now was move forward and progress through whatever storyline he had been placed in.
Currently, Cassien’s [Fate] wasn’t death.
Neither was it anything joyful.
It was still expulsion.
And for all he knew, it could end up becoming even worse as time progressed.
Ren wasn’t the special x-factor he once was in the original tale.
So right now, the protagonist didn’t matter much to him.
As long as Ren stayed alive, Cassien was fine with simply hanging around him without growing too attached.
He then began thinking back to his family.
His little sister.
A little less his father.
’I wonder how they’re doing right now.’
He pondered.
’Maybe I should go and check on them during my break. I did promise Alexandria after all...’
He then thought about how mad she would be if he didn’t end up going to see her.
’On second thought...’
Cassien scratched his hair awkwardly.
’She’ll kill me if I don’t.’
A long sigh suddenly escaped him as he started checking his backpack.
’Ahh.’
He exhaled calmly.
’It’s still here... What a relief.’
The Demon Core he attempted to use back on the island was still resting silently inside his backpack, awaiting the day it would be used.
Once Cassien received it from Siv, he immediately used [Mana Threading] when he found time and slowly stitched it back together piece by piece.
Doing so allowed him to minimize the energy his body would have to suppress once he chose to utilize it against a much stronger opponent.
That way, his consciousness and physical appearance would remain relatively stable.
’Actually... my physical appearance might change, but not by much.’
He couldn’t completely purify the jewel, otherwise the boost would barely mean anything.
Thus, his appearance would still change.
Possibly turning his hair into a different color.
But that experiment was for another day.
For now, Cassien was far more obsessed with the [Black Market] event coming up on the thirtieth of December.
That’s where he planned to murder Cid Forge.
Class-1A was becoming far too troublesome.
Even when Theodore helped eliminate that one spy back then...
Cassien still hadn’t discovered who exactly sent that man.
The most he knew was that the order originated from Class-1A.
And if Cassien got rid of Cid, he would be able to proceed further and act much more offensively.
But defeating a man with an Aether Core, one who wasn’t afraid to go all out at any moment, was quite troublesome indeed.
’It’s getting pretty late now... I should probably head to bed.’
He slowly stood up and began walking down the flight of stairs.
The pool below gave off such a calming sensation that it almost made him want to jump in for a quick swim.
Though now wasn’t really the time for that.
The bar was closed.
No employee remained to organize the place.
The same went for the restaurant inside.
All the chefs, servers, and hosts had already gone back to sleep.
Cassien was the only one standing outside in the cold night air.
He looked at his hands for a moment before heading inside.
Examining the scratches that had formed across his palms without him even noticing.
Then he touched his face.
Still clear and polished to perfection.
Cassien lifted his shirt slightly and glanced at his abs.
’The girls would’ve liked me way more if I had this back on Earth...’
’Back then, they were quite easy.’
From his experience, most girls he had gotten involved with were all insufferably talkative.
Not that all of them were probably like that.
But those types never had, and never would, stand out to him.
Besides, having any romantic or lustful feelings right now would only cause him to drift away from his actual goal.
And Cassien couldn’t allow that.
There was another thing he really wanted to learn during the break.
Alchemy.
Cassien never really got the chance to learn it before, but he wanted to give it a try.
It could become an incredibly useful factor in his future success.
That wasn’t all.
Cassien wanted to explore the Elfris Continent.
The place where the elves lived.
He wanted to see the dwarves as well.
The demi-humans too.
The author had created such a high-end fantasy world, yet Cassien had barely discovered one-fourth of what it had to offer.
But there was one region he had already crossed off his list until he gained enough power.
The lands where demons existed.
There was really only one thing Cassien needed to do there anyway.
’Kill the Demon King.’
It sounded simple.
Yet it was incredibly difficult.
To even get there alone, at the bare minimum, Cassien would need to be comparable to high-tier SS-Ranked explorers.
And that was only an estimate.
For all he knew, they could have evolved since he arrived.
One thing he truly awaited was the Aristocrad Arc.
The event where every race, except those humanity was currently at war with, gathered at the end of the year and held a grand tournament.
The winner received a special reward from each race.
And that could be exactly what Cassien needs...
To change his [Fate].
