Chapter 545: Tests
A moment later, the two teleported to an abandoned building.
"This place..." Jiang Yue muttered while looking around.
"XiaoYue, please remove the illusion on our faces." Yu Nianzhen instructed and Jiang Yue didn’t hesitate.
Less than an incense stick later, a stone wall shifted and ten people rushed out from inside the building.
Among the ten people, one was dressed in an ordinary suit while the rest were dressed like ninjas.
"Master..." Someone called with an incredulous look on his face.
"Master, how can you be alive?" Another asked.
"Let’s go inside, I will explain everything." Yu Nianzhen said.
Hearing that, the ten didn’t move.
Instead, they allowed Yu Nianzhen to walk to the front of the stone wall.
"If you are really our Master, you should know how to open the door." One of the shadow guards said and everyone looked at Yu Nianzhen with a vigilant look in their eyes.
After all, they had all confirmed their Master’s death.
Now that a ’dead’ person had appeared in front of them, they couldn’t help but be suspicious.
However, they didn’t dismiss the matter out of hand.
[Your shadow guards are quite interesting.] Jiang Yue transmitted and Yu Nianzhen chuckled in amusement.
Hearing the sound, the shadow guards looked at each other and almost reached for their weapons.
In their recollection, their Master had never laughed in front of them.
Considering that, they almost confirmed that the person in front of them was an imposter.
However, they didn’t rush to act.
[They look ready to act.] Jiang Yue said in a gloating voice.
[Are you enjoying yourself?]
[Very much.] Jiang Yue answered and Yu Nianzhen shook his head but had a helpless smile in his eyes.
"Let’s get to it." Yu Nianzhen said and pushed a specific stone.
A moment later, the wall moved and a lift appeared in front of everyone.
However, the shadow guards still didn’t move.
’This is the real test.’ Ying Yi thought and winked at the other shadow guards.
Seeing the wink, the other shadow guards nodded in agreement.
[How many tests do you need to pass?] Jiang Yue asked.
[Five.] Yu Nianzhen answered.
According to regulations, finding the abandoned building and pressing the stone to reveal the lift were not tests.
After all, it wasn’t impossible for an interested party to follow someone to the location and discover the stone required to reveal the lift.
However, activating the lift and the subsequent steps were almost impossible tasks for outsiders.
"Get in the lift." Yu Nianzhen suddenly ordered with a frosty look in his eyes.
Hearing the order, the ten shadow guards looked reluctant but had no choice but to enter the lift.
When everyone was in the lift, the door closed and everyone turned to look at Yu Nianzhen.
Fortunately, Yu Nianzhen had an extremely stable mind and didn’t falter under pressure.
Without delay, he touched a specific place on the lift wall and a keypad appeared.
A moment later, Yu Nianzhen input a sixteen-letter passcode and the lift began to move downwards.
[That passcode is too long.] Jiang Yue complained.
As a cultivator, memorising a sixteen-letter passcode was not difficult.
However, when he was a mortal, he would never have been able to memorise such a passcode.
[You used to be an actor who could memorise an entire script without any problems.] Yu Nianzhen reminded.
[It’s not the same thing.]
[How so?]
[In a script, words mean something. A passcode is mostly gibberish.]
[Not necessarily.] Yu Nianzhen refuted and a small smile flashed in his eyes.
[Is your passcode meaningful? What...] Jiang Yue started but fell silent when the lift stopped and the doors opened.
"Follow my steps." Yu Nianzhen turned to look at Jiang Yue and said.
"Okay."
After seeing that his lover understood, Yu Nianzhen walked out of the lift.
However, he didn’t directly walk down the corridor.
Instead, he took three steps to the left and then began to walk forward.
Seven steps later, he took two and a half steps to the right before he continued down the corridor.
In this way, Yu Nianzhen staggered his walking and finally reached the end of the corridor.
[What a mess.] Jiang Yue complained and rolled his eyes.
[We are almost there.] Yu Nianzhen said and touched the wall in front of him.
Soon after, a red light appeared and quickly scanned his facial features and pupils.
After that, a fingerprint scanner appeared and checked his prints.
Finally, the wall moved and the group of eleven continued forward.
This time, they didn’t enter a corridor but a large room.
At a glance, the room looked like a workplace and several work desks were placed around the room.
"There is one more test." A shadow guard said and pointed to a door at the end of the room.
[Is that your secret office?] Jiang Yue questioned.
"Mmmmh." Yu Nianzhen and walked towards the door.
Seeing this, the shadow guards held their breath.
In fact, they were already more than ninety per cent convinced that the person in front of them was their master.
However, it was difficult to accept since they had confirmed their master’s death.
Faced with this situation, they could only use all means to confirm that the person was indeed their master and not a sophisticated imposter.
[This test is a little troublesome.] Yu Nianzhen said with a troubled look on his face.
[What’s wrong?]
[The voice test is not a problem but I am a little worried about the blood test. Even if I suppress my cultivation, the mechanism needle can’t pierce through my skin to draw a drop of blood.] Yu Nianzhen sighed and then continued.
[I will have to use my sword qi to aid the mechanism.]
[I can use an illusion to confuse this test.] Jiang Yue offered but the swordsman didn’t want to cheat.
Earlier when he used his divine sense to check on his shadow guards, he found them discussing how to aid his Yu family.
For such loyal men, Yu Nianzhen naturally wanted to do his best to reciprocate their respect.
[They are good men.] Jiang Yue said and Yu Nianzhen nodded.
Soon after, Yu Niazhen placed his right hand at the centre of the door.
Almost instantaneously, a needle poked his palm and he cooperatively used his sword qi to prick his palm.
While the mechanism was processing his blood, Yu Nianzhen took the voice test and passed without any problems.
"Master..." One of the shadow guards shouted and fell to his knees.
"Master." Another called and also kneeled.
Before the blood test results came out, all the shadow guards had already gotten on their knees and were looking at Yu Nianzhen with a confused look on their faces.
"Master, did you fake your death?" Ying Yi asked but his tone of voice was a little unconvinced.
After all, the Ying guards were comprised of Yu Nianzhen’s most loyal and elite men.
If Yu Nianzhen needed to fake his death, he wouldn’t do it without instructing the Ying guards.
"Unless..." Ying Yi was startled and looked at Yu Nianzhen with a shocked look on his face.
"Master, is there a traitor amongst us?" He questioned.
However, Ying Yi didn’t really believe his suspicion.
"Don’t think wildly." Yu Nianzhen sighed and looked at the ten people.
"I will explain everything. Get up first." He said and the ten people quickly obeyed the order.
After that, the twelve people sat in the work area and Yu Nianzhen briefly explained the situation.
"This..." One of the shadow guards exclaimed.
"I feel like I am reading a cultivation novel." Another said.
"As expected, master is an extraordinary person who can even transmigrate."
When the Ying guards heard everything, they couldn’t help but be shocked.
However, they were also proud.
For the Ying guards, Yu Nianzhen was their heaven and earth.
Without exception, he had saved each of them from one plight or another.
As a result, they gave him their undivided gratitude, loyalty and respect.
"Master..." Ying San called but had a hesitant look on his face.
"What’s the matter?" Yu Nianzhen asked.
"With your cultivation, do you still need us?" Ying San asked and all the shadow guards looked at Yu Nianzhen with complicated looks on their faces.
"Jiang Yue and I have established ourselves in the Cangxing world." Yu Nianzhen started and looked at his shadow guards with a solemn look in his eyes.
"This time, we returned to pick up our relatives and friends. If you wish to stay, I will not force you to leave. As for those who wish to follow me, you will naturally have a place among my people."
"However, the cultivation world is different from the mortal world. If you wish to maintain your current position, an oath of loyalty is absolutely necessary."
"Master, I am willing to make the oath." Ying Yi immediately offered.
"Master, I am also willing." The others didn’t lag behind and Yu Nianzhen couldn’t help but look at them in satisfaction.
Originally, Yu Nianzhen and Jiang Yue planned to leave everything to puppets and their contracted beasts.
However, since they already had a group of loyal people, Yu Nianzhen felt it was a waste not to recruit them.
