Chapter 323: Leap
For one month, the five explored the space.
In that time, they suffered many injuries but they also gained a lot of space treasures.
Most important, they had already found a space embryo which was stored with the rest of the treasures.
"Is it me or is there something different about this space?" Xuan Ke suddenly asked.
After being in the space for more than one month, they had all become very sensitive to the environment.
It was because of this that they all noticed when something changed.
"It isn’t just you." Jiang Yue answered and frowned.
At first, the change was not noteworthy.
However, after a day, they couldn’t continue to ignore it.
"The aura is more suffocating and I always have a bad feeling." Bing Lan said and also frowned.
A cultivator’s intuition was very keen.
Although they didn’t know what was wrong, they all felt that something terrible was about to happen.
"Don’t lose focus and observe your surroundings more." Yang Xu advised and everyone agreed.
They continued to walk around but their trepidation only grew heavier.
After another day, breathing became more difficult and they couldn’t help but pant in discomfort.
"Should we leave?" Bing Lan asked and solemnly looked at the others.
"It’s a pity to leave without finding more treasures but this space has gotten too uncomfortable." Xuan Ke said.
"I am afraid that leaving is not an option." Yang Xu said and sighed.
"What do you mean?" Bing Lan asked.
"There is no exit." Yu Nianzhen said and Yang Xu nodded.
In the first to sixth space, there was always an exit somewhere in the space.
However, the current space was different.
They had been walking around for a long time and in that time, Yu Nianzhen had kept an eye out for an exit but hadn’t found any.
"It could be we haven’t come across it." Jiang Yue said.
"It could be but I don’t think so." Yu Nianzhen said and his brows creased tightly.
In the past two years, he had comprehended a lot of space laws.
Using what he knew, he could vaguely deduce that there was no exit in the space.
Although there were many space cracks, those tears led to other cracks within the same confined space.
"The only way to leave is to find the core treasure and let the space collapse." He continued.
"Nianzhen is right. There is no exit in this space." Yang Xu confirmed.
"Brother Jiang, can you find the location of the core treasure?"
When Jiang Yue heard the question, his complexion turned bad.
He had long found the location of the core treasure but didn’t say anything.
It wasn’t because he wanted to keep the treasure for himself but because the location was within an enormous crack.
After he discovered the situation, he decided to ignore it for the time being.
At the time, he thought the crack would close and the treasure would appear on the surface.
However, it had been more than a month but the crack had not closed.
Even more unfortunate, it seemed to be expanding as if reaching for the edges of the space.
"It’s inside that crack." Jiang Yue said and pointed to a crack.
The inside of the crack was darker than a starless night and a low howling resounded from within.
"This..." Xuan Ke said and sighed.
"Let’s explore the rest of the space while we search for options." Yu Nianzhen said and the others didn’t object.
After all, no one wanted or dared to enter a space crack.
Before it came to that, they had to comb every inch of the space to ensure they didn’t miss anything.
Five months later, the group of five stood at the edge of the space crack.
In the past five months, they gained a lot of treasures including space embryos, space seeds, and void stone essence.
However, none of them were happy.
This was because they hadn’t found a way out even after searching for so long.
"I am afraid we don’t have another choice." Bing Lan said and looked at the inside of the space crack.
"Master, mistress, brother Xuan, why don’t you enter the ancient palace?" Yu Nuanzhen suddenly said.
When the others heard that, they looked at Yu Nianzhen in confusion.
"We don’t know what will happen when we enter the space crack. I think fewer people should enter." He explained.
"I think you are right. I have the highest cultivation and should be in charge of exploring the space crack. The rest of you should enter the ancient palace." Yang Xu refuted.
"Axu and I are your elders. It’s only right for us to explore the space crack." Bing Lan said and glared at her husband.
"Master, mistress, you have misunderstood my reasoning."
"What do you mean?"
"In terms of strength, master is the most suitable to explore the space crack. However, in terms of efficiency, Azhen and I are the most suitable." Jiang Yue interjected.
"XiaoYue is right. If we can somehow survive in the space crack, searching blindly isn’t a solution."
"What if you can’t survive?" Yang Xu asked harshly.
"It won’t matter because the rest of you will also die." Yu Nianzhen said and the rest understood.
Whoever entered the space crack would have to carry the ancient palace.
If the person died, the palace would fall into the crack and probably be decimated.
"Entering the ancient palace is for the sake of not being separated in the space crack. When we find the treasure, we will naturally release everyone to break the barrier together." Yu Nianzhen persuaded and the others had nothing to say.
Soon after, Xuan Ke, Bing Lan, and Yang Xu entered the ancient palace.
Although Yang Xu was reluctant, he didn’t say anything and only glanced at the two young men before entering the palace.
"It’s only you and me now." Jiang Yue said.
His lips were curled in a smile and his eyes were shining brightly.
"Are you afraid?" Yu Nianzhen asked as he tenderly touched his husband’s face.
"I am with you. What’s there to be afraid of?"
When Yu Nianzhen heard that, he chuckled and pulled Jiang Yue into his arms.
"If master was here, he would scold us for being reckless."
"Don’t worry. Although this place is at the edge of a space tear, random space cracks don’t seem to appear here."
"How ironic." Jiang Yue said and chuckled.
For months, they had been harassed by space cracks and space winds.
They rarely had a chance to rest and were always on the move.
However, now that they were at the edge of the most dangerous place, they realised they were standing at the safest place in the space.
This was the reality of yin and yang.
Antidotes usually appeared near their poisonous counterparts.
As such, it wasn’t strange that a safe harbour existed right next to a danger zone.
"Azhen, how about..." Jiang Yue started and whispered the rest.
"Are you addicted to danger?" Yu Nianzhen forcibly suppressed his twitching lips and asked.
"Think about it. When we enter the space crack, it’s not known whether we can survive. This moment may be our last."
’You say you aren’t frightened but you are actually afraid. XiaoYue, I am also afraid. I still want to spend an eternity with you.’ Yu Nianzhen thought and his expression softened.
"XiaoYue, do you want to eat the soul beast meat?" He suddenly asked.
"Now?"
"Why not? I promised to make it but I am yet to fulfil my promise."
"Okay. Let’s take out some of the wine you previously buried. It should go well with the soul beast meat."
"Good."
After that, the two settled a few metres from the edge of the space crack.
This distance was short enough to be within the safe zone but long enough to ensure they wouldn’t be immediately swallowed by the expanding tear.
"XiaoYue, can I borrow your soul flame?"
"This is a good idea. The soul beast meat should be more delicious if it’s roasted with soul flame."
For the first try, Yu Nianzhen brought out a low-level soul beast to practice.
As expected, this soul beast and a few more were quickly turned to ashes.
However, Yu Nianzhen was a quick study.
He soon got the hang of it and finally roasted the best quality beast they killed in the soul beast forest.
As the meat cooked, the two drank wine and talked about irrelevant things.
"It’s so fragrant." Jiang Yue exclaimed time and again.
"It should be delicious." Yu Nianzhen said and it was.
Maybe it was because of the uncertain future or the fact of it, but the soul beast meat was extraordinarily delicious.
As soon as they ate, a mild power drilled into their souls.
The power compacted their souls and their soul power increased by leaps and bounds.
After eating and drinking, Yu Nianzhen lowered his husband to the ground and an ancient dance was staged at the edge of the space crack.
When they woke up, they armed themselves with defence treasures, held hands and jumped into the space crack.
