Chapter 184: Yeying
Three years later...
Jiang Yue sat in front of a crowd with a pipa in hand.
His right hand strum the strings lightly while he looked at the crowd gathered in the tea house.
"Do you want to hear a story?" He asked.
His voice was airy and seemed to resound in everyone’s heart, making them unable to resist.
"Yeying, what story will you tell today?" Someone asked.
"I want to listen to the legend of the cowherd and the weaver fairy." A girl said and sighed wistfully.
Several young women echoed her request, but Jiang Yue did not respond. He only smiled and continued to strum his pipa.
"What cowherd and the weaver fairy? We still haven’t heard the entire romance of the three kingdoms." Someone argued.
At that, several people started to argue until the music changed, and everyone fell silent.
"Today, I will tell the story of Chang E flying to the moon." Jiang Yue said and caught everyone’s attention.
"Once upon a time, in a faraway land, there were ten suns in the sky. The sky was bright, and the earth was hotter than a pit of flame tiger fire..."
As he spoke, his listeners were drawn into an illusion.
They saw a bright sky with ten suns hanging in the sky. Their skin began to dry, and their throats were perched, as if they hadn’t drunk water for many days.
"In that land, there lived a man called Hou Yi who had a wife called Chang E. Hou Yi was an archer and seeing the misery brought by the ten suns, he decided to shoot nine down..."
In this way, Jiang Yue told the story of Chang E flying to the moon, and the listeners experienced it first-hand. The men felt like they were Hou Yi, while the women were Chang E.
By the time he finished the story, everyone had a melancholic smile, but no one complained.
They were used to experiencing different emotions whenever they listened to Yeying but this was why he was so popular.
Since Yeying appeared three years ago, he had gained a large following in Black Wind city, and many people came to the teahouse just to listen to him.
’It’s time to adjust their mood.’ Jiang Yue thought, and the tune of his pipa changed.
Soon after, the audience let go of their melancholy, and their mood returned to normal.
"That’s it for today." He said and stood up.
"Yeying, what story will you tell tomorrow?" Someone asked.
"You will know when you come tomorrow." Jiang Yue said and gave the person a wink.
Before the person could respond, Jiang Yue left the stage and went to a private room on the second floor of the teahouse.
"Yeying." Someone called as soon as Jiang Yue entered the room.
The someone was a handsome young man.
He had an indifferent voice, but if one was paying careful attention, they would notice that a light flickered in his eyes when Jiang Yue entered the room.
"Young master Qi." Jiang Yue called.
"Today’s story was as good as ever."
"It’s my honour to entertain the young master."
"Yeying doesn’t need to be so unfamiliar. After all, we have known each other for three years."
"Thank you for your support all these years."
Jiang Yue sat down and took a sip of tea from the cup placed in front of him.
"Did the young master call me for something?" Jiang Yue asked.
He met Qi Shuo when he first arrived in Black Wind city three years ago. However, their paths rarely crossed, even though the young master always came to the tea house to listen to his stories.
"How old is Yeying?" Qi Shuo asked, and Jiang Yue frowned at the question. He lifted an eyebrow and looked at the person without answering his question.
"Don’t misunderstand. I have recently come across an opportunity but it’s only available to cultivators under one hundred."
"What opportunity?" Jiang Yue took another sip of tea and carefully observed the person.
Although he couldn’t detect any malicious intent, he didn’t want to fall into a trap, so he had to be careful.
"It’s a small secret realm." Qi Shuo revealed.
"Sorry, I don’t want to leave Black Wind city for the time being."
Although Yu Nianzhen could arrive at his side with the golden talisman, Jiang Yue didn’t want to go too far from the Black Wind Abyss.
After all, the talisman could only teleport within a distance of one thousand kilometres for the time being.
If the secret realm was farther away, meeting up with Yu Nianzhen would become troublesome. Also, he didn’t want to miss the conference at the Ice Palace.
"You don’t have to worry. The small secret realm belongs to the Lu family, and you won’t have to leave Black Wind city." Qi Shuo assured.
"Lu family?"
"It is one of the top families in the city. I have some friendship with the family, and they have given me a few quotas."
"When will the secret realm open?"
"It will be opened in a month. We can stay there for three years."
Jiang Yue went silent and thought about things.
For the past three years, he had practised his illusion techniques on the crowd at the tea house. However, he could feel that his practice was coming to a limit.
Without new chances, he wouldn’t be able to improve. As such, it was better to pursue more opportunities, and this small secret realm could be the answer.
"Why did you choose to invite me?" He suddenly asked.
"I want to return the favour." Jiang Yue was surprised when he heard that.
He didn’t remember doing the man any favours. Fortunately, Qi Shuo didn’t need any prompts to clear his doubts.
"Yeying doesn’t know, but your stories and music are very relaxing. They have helped me a lot." Qi Shuo said, and a light flickered in his eyes.
The main reason he invited Yeying was because he liked him. However, what he said was also true.
When he came to Black Wind city, Qi Shuo was on the verge of qi deviation. His qi was out of control, and a demon was slowly growing in his heart.
As luck would have it, he encountered Yeying playing music at a street in Black Wind city.
The ethereal music helped him calm his mind and since then, he had followed Yeying even after he began performing in the teahouse.
Unfortunately, Yeying had always been indifferent and had never allowed him to get close. This time, he hoped they could get close when they entered the secret realm.
"What are the cultivation level restrictions of the secret realm?"
"Only those below the origin tempering realm can enter."
"Are there any other requirements?" Jiang Yue asked with his narrowed.
In this world, there was nothing that could be gained for nothing.
If the Lu family opened their secret realm to outsiders, it was because there was something to be gained.
"The secret realm has a gravity stone mine. Everyone who enters must give three thousand kilogrammes to the Lu family when they leave the secret realm."
"In other words, this secret realm is for body refining?"
"Yeying is right." Qi Shuo said and looked at Jiang Yue.
"I understand."
"Does that mean that Yeying will enter the small secret realm?"
"I will thank the young master in advance. If there is something that the young master needs from me, I will give it if it is within my means."
"Yeying doesn’t need to feel any pressure." Qi Shuo said, but Jiang Yue was not assured.
He was only willing to accept favours from Yu Nianzhen.
All other people were outsiders, and he didn’t like accepting things from them.
’I will find a way to return the favour.’ He thought.
Although he could reject the arrangement, Jiang Yue didn’t want to.
He had already begun to practice the flame body refining technique. Gravity training would not only improve his body, but it would also help to stabilise his cultivation.
Although three years had passed since he broke through to the qi transformation realm, his cultivation realm was still unstable.
This was because he broke through too quickly, and he guessed it would take a few more years before his realm was stable.
"This is my jade pendant. Yeying can contact me if there is anything." Qi Shuo handed over the jade pendant, and Jiang Yue did not refuse.
There was a lot he didn’t know about the secret realm, and Qi Shuo was someone he could ask.
"Thank you." Jiang Yue said and also gave his jade pendant.
"Yeying must prepare well before entering the secret realm."
"Young master Qi doesn’t have to worry. I will prepare well."
After finishing his cup of tea, Jiang Yue left the private room and walked out of the tea house.
Outside the tea shop, a bull was waiting, and Jiang Yue walked straight to it.
"Uncle Niu, let’s go back." He said.
Without waiting for the bull to reply, he climbed on its back, and it trotted away from the teahouse.
From a second-floor window, Qi Shuo watched them leave, and his eyes filled with determination.
"Yeying, you can only be mine." He muttered to himself.
