Chapter 183: Entering the Black Wind Abyss
Three weeks later, Yu Nianzhen and Jiang Yue arrived outside the entrance of the Black Wind Abyss.
The entrance was a dark crevice, and several people were standing around.
"Azhen, you have to be careful." Jiang Yue said and frowned.
When he looked at those waiting outside the entrance, he saw that all were at least in the origin tempering realm.
However, he didn’t want to stop his husband and could only ask him to be careful.
"Don’t worry. You also have to be careful."
"I know."
The two lingered for a while before Yu Nianzhen jumped down from the bullock.
When his feet touched the ground, he did not look back and resolutely walked towards the entrance.
"I will wait for you." Jiang Yue whispered and rode away on the bullock.
Although the voice was low, Yu Nianzhen heard it, and a smile curled his lips.
He liked that someone was waiting for him and especially liked that the person was Jiang Yue.
"Boy, stop for me." A rough voice shouted, and a bulky body appeared in front of Yu Nianzhen.
The voice jolted the swordsman out of his daydream, and he looked at the man.
"Does the senior have any advice?" He asked.
The person who stopped him was in the origin tempering realm, and Yu Nianzhen didn’t want to fight him if he could avoid it.
However, that did not mean that he was afraid of trouble.
If the person wanted to trouble him, Yu Nianzhen wouldn’t allow himself to be bullied.
"Boy, I forgot to bring my storage ring when I came here today. Give me yours."
’Robbery? Does he take me a soft persimmon?’ Yu Nianzhen sighed.
It had been a while since someone tried to rob him, and he looked around to assess the situation.
There were seven cultivators close to the entrance of the Black Wind Abyss. All of them wore different robes and stood apart, which meant they weren’t a group.
When he saw this, Yu Nianzhen was relieved.
If the man was part of a group, he would have no choice but to escape or give up his storage ring.
However, now that he knew the man was alone, Yu Nianzhen was not afraid. He took a step back, and a sword appeared in his right hand.
"If you want my storage ring, you can collect it from my corpse." He said.
Without waiting for the person to react, he swung the sword, and a silver light cantered towards the man.
"Boy, do you dare to fight me?" The man shouted angrily.
His name was Nan Jing, and his cultivation was at the fourth level of the origin tempering realm.
When he arrived at the entrance, the time was not right to enter the Black Wind Abyss, so he waited with the others.
Just when he was feeling restless from waiting, a qi transformation realm cultivator appeared.
The boy looked wealthy, and Nan Jing thought to teach him the height of the heavens and let him go after taking his storage ring.
Unexpectedly, the boy didn’t know what was good for him and chose to fight.
"Take out your weapon or get out of my way." Yu Nianzhen said indifferently.
"There is a way to heaven, but you don’t take it. There is no way to hell, but you choose to break in." Nan Jing sneered and released a spear.
’I haven’t tested my strength since I broke through to the qi transformation realm. This is a good chance.’ Yu Nianzhen thought and gripped his sword tighter.
Although there was a big difference in their cultivation levels, Yu Nianzhen had comprehended sword intent. Even if he couldn’t win, he was confident he wouldn’t lose too miserably.
Most importantly, the true entrance of the Black Wind Abyss was about to appear. If he couldn’t deal with the person, he could always escape into the Abyss.
"Boy, I can still let you go if you kneel down and call me grandpa."
Yu Nianzhen didn’t bother responding to the man. He swung his sword, and three sword lights flew to the man.
"Five points thrust." Nan Jing reacted and pierced the air with his spear.
The move was extremely fast, and Yu Nianzhen’s sword lights were immediately shattered.
’He talks too much, but his strength is real.’ Yu Nianzhen thought and lunged towards the man.
He swung his sword, and a silver crescent flew towards the man’s head.
Without waiting to see the outcome, the swordsman circled to the other side and thrust his sword at the person’s neck.
"An ant’s tricks." The man sneered and parried with his spear.
Unfortunately, he underestimated his opponent too much.
Although he managed to block Yu Nianzhen’s first attack, he could not avoid the second attack.
The sword sunk into the man’s shoulder, and he roared in anger.
"Boy, you dare to injure me." The man screamed and thrust his spear to his opponent’s stomach.
Yu Nianzhen saw the attack coming and jumped back but the spear tip still glazed his stomach.
’His speed is a little faster.’ He sighed and quickly circulated his qi to close the injury.
Speed increased with cultivation, and his opponent was a big realm higher.
If they competed on speed, Yu Nianzhen was not an opponent.
His chance of winning lay in predicting the opponent’s attacks and reacting before they could be executed. By doing this, he could avoid serious injuries even if he couldn’t avoid the attacks.
While they were fighting, Yu Nianzhen became accustomed to his opponent. He learned the man’s attack patterns, and a plan formed in his mind.
’My chance is when he uses the leaf-sweeping thrust. I will attack his legs, and when he is destabilised, I will use half my qi to cut his neck.’
With this plan in mind, Yu Nianzhen focused on parrying and dodging while waiting for his opportunity.
Unfortunately, before he could put his plan to use, a fierce wind blew from the crevice.
"The entrance has appeared." Someone shouted, and the two who were fighting had to stop.
Although the Black Wind Abyss was not a secret realm, it was a forbidden place, and its entrance was only accessible for a short while at sunset.
If one didn’t enter when the entrance appeared, they would have to wait for the next day.
"You can keep your life this time. Don’t let me see you again." Nan Jing sneered and jumped into the crevice.
The others also jumped in, and Yu Nianzhen followed at the end of the line.
"You are the one who is lucky to keep his life." He muttered and promptly put the man at the back of his mind.
To him, the person was a just small incident to pass the time.
The main event was entering the Black Wind Abyss and training for the next seven years.
After jumping into the crevice, Yu Nianzhen was enveloped in black wind. The wind was sharper than blades, and he was soon covered in cuts.
’It’s more dangerous than I expected.’ He thought and took a rejuvenation pill.
The Black Wind Abyss was divided into four zones- zone C, zone B, zone A, and zone S.
From what Yu Nianzhen knew, zone C was the safest, while zone S was the most dangerous.
Fortunately, the entrance was in zone C, and he didn’t have to worry that he would land in more dangerous zones.
Even then, his body could barely withstand the atmosphere in zone C.
"The others are not here." Yu Nianzhen observed when he landed on the ground.
Although he was relieved to see that he was alone, he didn’t let his guard down.
The Black Wind Abyss was a forbidden place because it had dangerous black winds all year round. Not only were the winds sharp, they were also poisonous and could breed black wind beasts.
From his research, Yu Nianzhen knew that even the body of a nascent soul realm cultivator couldn’t withstand the poisoning of the black winds.
Fortunately, the poison could be resolved with the black windflower which grew in the abyss.
As for the black wind beasts, Yu Nianzhen only needed to read the description to know that they were not easy to deal with.
"First things first." He said and took a deep breath.
He then collected all the qi in his body and sealed it in his dantian. In this way, he felt like a mortal and would not attract black wind beasts until he used qi to attack or defend himself.
After locking his qi, Yu Nianzhen took out something from his storage ring. This something was made of a remnant piece of mother of iron and looked like a grain of rice. It also carried a barely perceptible aura that was similar to his.
After looking at it for a moment, Yu Nianzhen threw the grain and allowed the winds to take it away.
"The day I take it back is also the day I will leave the Abyss." He said.
