Chapter 174: Bloodline
’Azhen?’ Jiang Yue heard a voice, and his brows creased in a frown.
The words he heard and the images he was seeing were contradictory, and he didn’t know what to believe.
’Azhen...’ He called again, wanting to believe that the words were real.
However, he couldn’t ignore the images.
At this time, Yu Nianzhen in front of him was kissing his wife.
Jiang Xing was pregnant with their second child, and Yu Nianzhen hoped it was a girl.
He wanted a girl that looked exactly like her mother, and when he heard that, Jiang Yue spat out a mouthful of blood.
’XiaoYue...’ Yu Nianzhen transmitted urgently through the soul bond.
He didn’t know what Jiang Yue was seeing, and because of that, he didn’t know the best way to pull the other out of the illusion.
At the moment, the only thing he could do was to keep trying and hope that his voice would reach his lover.
’XiaoYue, do you know, you look second best when you are performing.’ Yu Nianzhen suddenly said.
For some reason, that caught Jiang Yue’s attention, and he frowned in displeasure.
’I look my best when I am performing.’ He argued, and Yu Nianzhen smiled.
’No, you don’t.’ He refuted.
’When do I look my best?’
The swordsman’s smile widened, and a sultry voice filled Jiang Yue’s ears.
"When you are writhing under me."
’When I am under you?’ He asked in confusion. He tilted his head to the right and seriously thought about it.
When he eventually figured it out, his face turned red, and his eyes shifted in shyness.
’Who are you? What are you doing in my head?’ He suddenly asked angrily.
’Who am I? I am your Azhen.’
’I don’t believe you.’ Jiang Yue shook his head, and tears fell from his eyes.
His Azhen was now married to Jiang Xing. They had one son and another child on the way.
Also...
’If you are going to impersonate my Azhen, you should at least get it right.’ He disdained.
’What didn’t I get right?’ Yu Nianzhen asked curiously.
’Where is my Azhen so sleek and flirtatious?’ He snorted in disgust.
’My Azhen wouldn’t know what to do with me if he found me under him.’
Yu Nianzhen almost vomited blood when he heard that.
Was he despised by his Taoist companion?
He gritted his teeth and glared at the back of his lover’s head before he said darkly, "see how I clean you up after you wake up from the illusion."
After taking a deep breath to calm down, he continued to talk with Jiang Yue through the soul bond.
However, it wasn’t easy.
Jiang Yue was convinced that the person he could see was the real Yu Nianzhen, while the one in his ear was due to wishful thinking.
Fortunately, Yu Nianzhen knew Jiang Yue well and could subtly guide him out of the illusion. Some time later, he finally convinced his stubborn lover, and Jiang Yue slowly woke up.
"Azhen..." He called as soon as he opened his eyes.
His eyes were still a little confused and cautious as if he didn’t quite believe the reality in front of him.
"I am here." Yu Nianzhen said and hugged the person.
When he felt the arms around him, Jiang Yue began to tremble.
He still remembered the despair and helplessness he felt while under the illusion.
"I am here." Yu Nianzhen repeated.
"Azhen..."
"Yes?"
"Are you mine?"
"I am yours. Now and forever."
At that, Jiang Yue couldn’t hold on for another moment. He hugged his lover tightly and cried until his tears dried up.
When he could no longer cry, he stood up and dragged Yu Nianzhen into their tent.
For the next three days, the two did not get out of bed, and Jiang Yue was finally reassured.
"Are you feeling better?" Yu Nianzhen asked.
"I am good." Jiang Yue said and smiled.
"I will always be yours."
Yu Nianzhen rubbed the other’s head, and Jiang Yue smiled.
He understood that the illusion was because he still had lingering fears of missing Yu Nianzhen in their previous life.
However, he didn’t want to dwell on the past.
Since they had transmigrated to a new world, all he needed to think about was how to live a good life with his lover.
"How is your body?"
"Sore." Jiang Yue’s face scrunched like a bun, and he glared at his lover.
He didn’t know what had come over Yu Nianzhen, but the other was quite unforgiving in the past three days.
’Who told you to despise me?’ Yu Nianzhen thought with a satisfied smile on his face.
Although he knew that Jiang Yue’s words were based on the self in the illusion, Yu Nianzhen still felt the need to prove himself.
Fortunately, he got a chance to do just that in the past three days.
"I will apply some ointment for you."
"No, I will do it myself." Jiang Yue said and actually took a step back.
He had a feeling that if he allowed such a thing, they would be stuck in the mountain for several more months.
However, that could not happen. They still had to go to several cities to find treasures and auction them for spirit stones.
As it was, they were behind schedule and could no longer take their time.
"Are you sure?" Yu Nianzhen looked ready to help his Taoist companion, but Jiang Yue was not having it.
He rolled his eyes and said, "I am very sure."
Yu Nianzhen sighed in resignation and looked at his lover with aggrieved eyes.
"How about the blue monarch butterfly?" He finally asked.
"Everything is good."
Although he didn’t have time to think about it in the last three days, Jiang Yue knew he had successfully contracted the blue monarch butterfly.
More importantly, he had noticed several changes in his body, and he couldn’t help but smile happily.
"I also have a greyish dot in my purple star." He said proudly and offered his wrist for Yu Nianzhen to see.
Yu Nianzhen took the hand and saw the grey dot that was similar to the one on his own purple star.
"What is the meaning of this?" He wondered as he studied the dot.
"I don’t fully understand it, but it has something to do with bloodline." Jiang Yue said solemnly.
After contracting the blue monarch butterfly, his body partially awakened the bloodline of the blue illusion butterfly.
With this awakening, he received some bloodline memories and knew that the blue illusion butterfly was a chaos beast.
A chaos beast was a demonic beast born from chaos at the opening of the world. They were extraordinarily powerful, but they had gone extinct due to persecution by the heavens.
"That’s all I know." Jiang Yue said.
When he heard the explanation, Yu Nianzhen frowned.
"Bloodline awakening makes sense for you, but I haven’t contracted any beasts." He argued.
"What you say is true..." Jiang Yue also frowned and subconsciously looked at Yu Nianzhen’s wrist.
Before either could come up with more suggestions, Jiang Yue heard a voice in his head.
"Who?" He asked and looked around.
"Master, it’s me." The voice said.
It sounded like that of a young girl, and Jiang Yue searched around warily.
"What’s wrong?" Yu Nianzhen asked.
"There is a voice in my head." Jiang Yue replied.
"Isn’t it your contract butterfly?"
Jiang Yue felt stupid when he heard his lover’s words.
He had somehow forgotten that he now had a contract beast, and the beast could transmit sound in his mind.
"Butterfly?" He asked hesitantly.
"Master, it is me." The young voice answered happily.
Jiang Yue didn’t see the butterfly in the tent, so he pulled his lover and walked out.
Outside the tent, he saw the butterfly guarding the entrance and couldn’t help but feel a little guilty.
"Do you have a name?" He asked.
"Master can give me a name." The butterfly sounded even more excited.
Because it was just born and its lifespan was too short, it wasn’t given a name by its clan.
However, now that it had formed a contract and could live a long life, it was eager to get a name.
Jiang Yue looked at the beautiful blue butterfly, and hundreds of names flashed through his mind.
After thinking about it, he asked, "how about XiaoLan?"
"Master, XiaoLan likes this name." The girlish voice chirped happily.
"It’s good if you like it." He said and then introduced the swordsman.
"XiaoLan, this is my Taoist companion. His name is Yu Nianzhen. You must remember to listen to him in the future."
"XiaoLan understands. XiaoLan will listen to the big master."
’Big master?’ Jiang Yue felt his lips twitch when he heard the name.
If Yu Nianzhen was the big master, was he the small master?
Why was that?
’Forget it. It doesn’t matter.’ He thought and decided not to dwell on it.
He didn’t want to sink to the level of a child butterfly.
