Chapter 67: One Last Time
What’s the worst thing that could happen to someone?
’’Uh...hello...hello...911? Someone has just...has just...oh my god,’’ The security officer wheezed as he came close enough to identify the person as a female.
A familiar person.
’’Calm down, sir, take in a deep breath and tell us the situation.’’
A cat dying at your very worst could feel like the final nail of suffering to one’s already miserable existence.
’’Someone just fell from the top of a building and isn’t responding! There’s blood...there’s blood everywhere!’’
’’Help, someone, please help...’’ The guard said as he ran his large hand nervously against his blonde colored hair. His workmates were either too scared or shocked to come close.
’’Oh my god...’’ The guard whispered again in disbelief as he stared over at the body again in horror. It has been twenty-one solid years as a professional security guard. He had witnessed a lot of terrible things in his life...but this has to be a first.
She was always confident, seeming untouchable with a look of having everything figured out in her life. There were one or two times they had admired how she seemed so in control of everything and this close to achieving a very successful and happy life.
The guard cried out again in shock, trembling at the sight.
Though, there were one or two shameful times they had talked ill behind her back and judged her for who she was...
Always on time and the last to leave the building.
Beautiful and ahead of many hardworking women out there.
No love life and a car she has been managing for three years and a company she had been shouldering for so long to make a single profit...
It was terrible to find out this way that there was so much more to Corrine Anais Winfield that no one knew.
Or will ever know now that she was dead.
’’Stay calm sir, help is on the way.’’

A car with a polished dark color and golden rims rolled to a stop before the storey building. Its tires splashed rainwater as it jerked to a stop and the door to the passenger seat opened to the chaos that happened under the rain.
Stylie stepped out with a loud gasp, her face red with tears and mouth pale from praying that it wasn’t true as she was driven here.
Even Azazel stepped forth from the driver’s seat to witness the horror with a wide disbelieving gaze.
But reality wasn’t anyone’s favourite friend. Reality bends for no one and it’s either you accept it or keep living a lie.
Stylie gasped again as the rain poured down on her in showers. The sky rumbling nonstop as police cars filled the entire parking lot with police cars, ambulances, and paramedics.
Yellow lines were pulled from one end to another as detectives made several calls, each standing beneath a dark umbrella or wearing a rain coat as they took down notes and discussed with witnesses what they thought might have happened.
A familiar guard who was speaking to a detective turned and caught her staring at him. She then saw it in his deep brown gaze that it was real.
There was no point in denying it.
Their favourite Boss in the world was gone.
Amidst the chaos, one familiar and distinct cry echoed in her ears, forcing a tear to trickle down her face as she saw Berry being held by four police officers. Losing her composure as she screamed, wailed and begged them to let her go and hold her Boss for the last time.
Beside them was an ambulance car with Lin leaning beside it looking lost and miles away from himself.
It was a terrible scene.
She found herself covering her face, falling back enough for Azazel to hold her and for the first time in a long time, her scream was the loudest.
They were too late.
They couldn’t reach her in time after everything she has done for them.
She gave them all a life, a hope of being someone one day while escaping their terrible pasts. She made working fun and something they all looked forward to.
She was their boss.
Their friend.
A sister they never had.
Their family.
Lightning traveled far in the sky with an earth shattering groan as a figure stood silently at the edge of the building. This time, he didn’t hide from the rain or the pain that seized every part of his being.
The light within his golden eyes dulled as he watched those insufferable tiny beings quickly accept that she was gone.
That she was far from him and they could never be together in this life or in the next.
He watched as they pretended as if it was all over.
Fools.
His gaze flickered gently down at the ridiculously dressed idiots, placing her body inside a body bag, zipping it away like she was some package.
They really all deserve to die for what they’ve done.
Everyone has really done their worst and it was the body of his love they were zipping away inside a bag.
His hands tightened on the bottle of devil’s tears in his hold.
Time slipped away as the water pouring from above stilled and formed tiny, beautiful rain drops all around as the enigma descended from above, defying gravity in the slowest form.
His fine feet touched the ground. The tiny splash of water they created floated as bubbles as he moved between the frozen faces of the humans around him.
They moved and parted for him with every step he took. Like mannequins slipping gradually on ice.
The yellow caution tape was severed by an invisible force, flailing in a weird static way as he approached the bag.
The ridiculously dressed humans zipping the bag were instantly reduced to ash, floating away into the distance. Their slow departure from this world was reflected through the tiny, frozen bubbles around him.
Ichoraisis knelt before the bag and embraced his love one last time.
