Chapter 48: The First Member of Dreamer’s Peak

After the meeting, Akasha didn’t linger around any longer than necessary.

Even while concealed behind the Dreamer’s Mask, he could feel the weight of suspicion and curiosity pressing in from every direction.

With the contract now sealed, there was no reason to stay.

As it was time to move.

He, Luna, and Yume took to the skies, leaving the Main Peak of the Academy of Veils behind.

The wind rushed past them as they flew, the setting sun casting long shadows across the mountain ranges below.

Akasha’s crimson-white hair whipped gently in the breeze, his mask still resting over his face.

As they glided through the clouds, a familiar screen flickered to life before him. In that instant, he unleashed five Gacha rolls at once.

The spinning interface floated in the air like a living constellation, each panel pulsing with shifting colors and bizarre, fantastical items.

The trio flew in formation, but all three pairs of eyes were now fixed on the flashing screens.

Yume leaned in closer from Akasha’s left, her dream-like purple hair drifting in the wind as she stared at the spinning lights with wide, sparkling eyes.

"Master... what is that?" she asked, voice filled with genuine curiosity. "It looks rather cool...."

Before Akasha had the chance to respond, Luna’s voice came from his right, calm yet tinged with a hint of amusement.

"Fufufu~ Yume... it’s one of the many gifts from his mother."

Yume’s eyes instantly widened, a spark of awe lighting up her face as she turned toward Akasha, her expression brimming with wonder.

"Master... your mother? Then... when will I have the chance to meet her?"

At that, the corners of Akasha’s lips gave the faintest twitch.

"Tsk, perhaps never," he said quietly. "She probably doesn’t even exist."

He honestly wished he could just forget that such a person even existed, but Luna never missed an opportunity to remind him that everything he had was thanks to his loving mother.

It wasn’t meant to belittle him; in fact, it was quite the opposite.

She understood that in a world driven by power, having strong support meant everything.

To her, it didn’t matter where he got his possessions or advantages from—what mattered was that he recognized he had a mother who truly loved him.

She hoped he would at least give her a chance to explain herself, because even though Luna didn’t fully understand the reasoning behind everything, she believed her creator couldn’t be entirely bad.

The moment those words left his mouth, the sky above them split open.

CRACKLEEEEE!!!!

BOOOOOOM!!!!!!!

A bolt of pure heavenly lightning tore through the clouds and struck the space right in front of them with terrifying force.

The air shimmered with an almost tangible divine pressure, and the blinding light forced even Akasha to squint against its intensity.

"What the hell?" he muttered, glancing upward as the clouds slowly drifted back to their usual state.

Luna gave a soft, knowing laugh, entirely unfazed by the spectacle.

"I told you," she said, her tone laced with playful teasing. "Fufufu~ She’s always watching."

Akasha stayed silent, his face unreadable, though his eyes betrayed a storm of emotions — conflict, resignation, and something unspoken that lingered just beneath the surface.

Then after a moment he turned his attention back to his status.

Seeing the absurd items displayed on the screen, Luna let out a soft, knowing laugh beside him, not even bothering to voice the thoughts clearly playing in her mind.

Akasha could only sigh in response.

No matter how he felt about his mother, he wasn’t too proud to accept such items.

After all, as Luna had told him, cheats weren’t uncommon in this world. So, despite his feelings, there was no way he’d pass up the chance to take advantage of something like this.

"Tsk, she’ll have to do a lot more than that if she wants to impress me," he scoffed.

He already knew exactly what Luna wanted to say — that his mother was simply so loving.

Yume’s voice came out in a soft, trembling whisper as she stared in awe at the floating status window.

"Are these items... just his?"

Akasha simply shook his head, his mind occupied with far heavier thoughts — particularly the lingering presence of his mother and the implications of the lightning strike earlier.

Seeing his distant expression, Yume glanced at Luna.

Luna met her gaze and gave a small, knowing wink.

----

The trio flew on in silence for what felt like endless hours, the wind whipping past as they soared over vast stretches of land.

At last, they reached the Eastern Continent. Crossing the border, they saw sprawling, ancient forests below, and far off on the horizon, the faint silhouette of a kingdom.

Just as they were about to pass over a particularly dense patch of trees, a desperate, furious scream split the air.

"Kill that filthy monster now!"

Akasha slowed down, his eyes narrowing as he looked downward.

Below them, a young boy with short black hair and pure white eyes was running for his life.

He was dressed in ragged, beggar-like clothes, his small frame moving frantically through the trees.

Chasing after him were several guards dressed in matching black and brown uniforms, each bearing a sigil of an ice shard on their chests.

Behind the guards stood a man with short brown hair and brown eyes, tightly holding a crying woman who bore a striking resemblance to the boy.

Tears streamed down her face as she struggled against the man’s grip.

The man’s voice rang out, dripping with venom.

"What kind of vile monster would stoop so low as to harm his own sister before her wedding? That bastard doesn’t deserve to live another day!"

Akasha’s eyes narrowed.

Without a word, he activated his scan on the fleeing boy.
