Chapter 37: The State of World Affairs (2)

Ahem!

The moment Jovian reappeared, he was before the woman in a flicker of motion, the cold air shifting around him as he cleared his throat with dramatic flair.

"Well, I’m Jovian Savant..." he said, giving a slight bow, "the greatest swordsman of all time. Nice to meet you."

He added with a charming grin, "And... good day."

In that moment, he didn’t need to do anything more than he already had.

Since the moment he arrived in this sect, everything had been under his control through the use of his Divine Eyes of Heaven.

Not only that, but his rank had also soared far beyond the Tier 9 it had been just a decade ago.

Now, he stood as a God Emperor Tier 16, which was far beyond even the Sect Master of this place.

As his words finished, he waved his hand horizontally, and a golden-black sword materialized in his grip, its blade humming with quiet, deadly power.

SHKKKKKK!!!!

THUD! THUD! THUD!

In one fluid, effortless motion, he beheaded all three men before the eyes of everyone present.

Their heads tumbled to the snow with soft, wet thuds, expressions frozen in shock as their bodies crumpled lifelessly to the ground.

Blood sprayed across the pristine white snow in vivid arcs, the warm liquid steaming in the freezing air.

’One sect down... and one beauty claimed~’ Jovian thought to himself as he slowly turned around.

He bent down gracefully, the cold snow crunching softly under his boots as he placed a single finger gently on the child’s forehead.

HUMMMMM!!!!!

The moment he did, a surge of divinity erupted from him — a warm, golden light that flooded into the girl’s small, lifeless body.

Her eyes shot open with a sharp gasp, color rushing back to her pale cheeks as she blinked rapidly, confusion and life returning to her gaze.

From afar, the Sect Master appeared, flying in while in perfect condition, her robes flowing behind her as she called out desperately.

"Selia!"

Hearing her name, Jovian smiled as everything was going just as he planned.

Then taking the young woman’s hand with gentle confidence and pressing a soft kiss to the back of it.

"Well, nice to meet you... Selia."

On the Western Continent, the Academy of Revelations remained surprisingly calm despite the outcome of their invasion.

In fact, the Dean was in high spirits, as if Lady Luck had been favoring the Academy in recent years.

While the invasion had technically failed, they had lost nothing of real value.

Unlike the Nova Dragons, who had fielded fighters as strong as tier 15—though only one of that level had shown up, with the rest much weaker—the Academy had sent only its lowest-ranked talents, along with a few instructors they could easily spare.

More importantly, they had achieved... their true objective: shifting the balance and forcing the Dragon King himself into a difficult position.

Well, not technically... little did they know, the Nova Dragons no longer existed.

---

The Dean walked down a long, echoing hall with his hands clasped calmly behind his back.

The corridor was wide and grand, lined with towering pillars of smooth black stone etched with glowing runes.

Floating lanterns cast a steady, warm light across the polished floors, their soft orange glow reflecting off the walls.

And the air carried the faint scent of heated metal, a familiar comfort that never failed to put him at ease.

His footsteps were steady and unhurried, the only sound disrupting the calm rhythm of the Academy’s grounds.

He passed several closed doors, behind which the low murmur of scholars and the occasional sharp hum of divinity could be heard.

A faint smile played on his scarred lips as he moved, the weight of recent events settling comfortably in his mind.

CREAKKK!

He continued until he reached the grand meeting room at the end of the hall. The heavy double doors opened with a low, resonant creak as he stepped inside.

The Elders were already awaiting him, seated around a large circular table of dark, rune-etched wood.

The room itself was imposing, with high ceilings and wide windows that offered a commanding view of the Academy grounds.

The air here was slightly cooler, carrying the subtle scent of ink and polished stone.

The moment he entered, one of the Elders — a grizzled man with a scarred jaw — leaned forward, his voice rough with curiosity.

"So, what is the state of affairs with the Dragon Clan?"

The Dean smiled, the expression calm and knowing as he moved to take his seat at the head of the table. He waved his hand, and a glowing orb materialized from his divine ring, hovering above the center of the table.

"As far as I know... everything is all going as planned," he said simply.

HUMMM!

With another casual wave, the orb activated, projecting a shimmering recording of the previous conversation between Ryder, the Dragon King, and Kaleb.

The images played clearly in the air — the massive Dragon King in his true form, Kaleb’s explanation, and even the Dragon King declaring the meeting between all kings and queens.

Hearing that, everyone looked at the Dean, whose smilehad completely vanished as the scenes had not simply ended there....

No, the entire recording was all possible in the first place was because the Dean used an artifact he planted on one of the many scales of the Dragon King long ago.

One of the Elders finally spoke, his voice trembling with barely contained fear.

"Dean... what?"

The room fell into tense silence as the projection continued.

One of the Elders — an older woman with sharp features — struggled to find words, her hands gripping the edge of the table tightly.

"This... this can’t be right," she stammered, voice rising with confusion.

"One man? One single man turned the entire invasion on its head? He incapacitated over a hundred thousand dragons... He must be lying right?"

Bang!

Another Elder slammed his fist on the table; his face flushed with a blend of shock and grudging satisfaction.

"This changes everything! And what about the Academy of Veils... they came out untouched? Not even a scratch?"

The air grew heavy with tension, confusion, and frustration as they struggled to make sense of the unthinkable. Before the Dean could speak, the projection carried on.

The next thing they saw was the sudden, brutal deaths of Ryder, Kaleb, and the Dragon King himself.

The recording showed no clear attacker — only the heirs collapsing and the Dragon King’s massive form exploding into paste in an instant.

The entire room erupted in shock.

"What in the hell is going on?!" one Elder shouted, shooting to his feet, voice cracking with disbelief.

"This is nonsense! How does an entire royal line just... die like that?!"

Then, right before the projection ended, Akasha appeared on the screen as he removed his mask.

The entire room fell deathly silent.

All eyes locked onto the image of the crimson-white haired young man with bloody eyes, void black horns, and black scales.

"Are you telling me he did this?" one Elder muttered while shooting to his feet, voice laced with disbelief.

"That... that boy... just casually slaughtered the entire Royal line?!"

Bang!

Another Elder slammed his hands on the table, his face pale.

"A single man.... He sure has some ball!"

The fear and confusion in the room were palpable, voices overlapping in a rising storm of disbelief.

The Dean closed his eyes for a long moment, letting the chaos wash over him. When he opened them again, his voice was calm and deliberate, cutting through the noise like a blade.

"Let’s just focus on what is aligning at this moment," he said, tone steady.

"We will worry about this situation later. We only have two weeks to make sure everything is perfect."

The main reason the Academies ruled each continent instead of the Kings and Queens of various Clans or Races was clearly because their uncanny ability to gather information.

This went far beyond mere spying or keeping up with current events.

Collectively, the Academies possessed roughly 95% of Kalpa’s entire recorded history, giving them an undeniable edge.

The Dean of the Academy of Revelation, in particular, knew that with the Dragon King of the Southern Continent owing him a favor.

He could turn this to his advantage, invoking the ancient Dragon Code—a decree by an Ancient Dragon stating that when one dragon fell, the entire clan would pursue vengeance without rest.

But what happens when an entire Dragon Clan is slain?

’While I’m not sure what the Academy of Veils is hiding,’ the dean mused, recalling how he had drawn on history and even the Academy’s most treasured artifact for clues about the future.

’That cursed frog... all it said was that things would go wrong—terribly wrong.’ He finished the thought, with the Artifact in mind, a relic that offered simple words in exchange for divinity.

Once the exchange was finished, the Dean, or any other participant, would receive insight into whatever event they wished.

He spent years crafting such a meticulous plan, but he didn’t expect things to go this.... wrong.

At first, the Dean remained silent, leaning back in his chair as the recording slowly faded away.

Then, in a calm and deliberate tone, he finally spoke.

"With the Kings and Queens soon meeting, the next phase is at hand." He paused, letting the weight of his words settle before continuing.

"While the Academy of Veils and that... man remains uncertain for now,"

On paper, the Academy seemed like easy picking, but he did not want to risk testing the artifact’s revelation—not until more information was gathered.

"We will still move forward with... the subjugation of the major clans."
