Chapter 2: Three Divine Wishes

After being trapped in an endless void of darkness, Akasha had long since grown tired of playing the waiting game, and the thought of enduring another drawn-out info-dumping session was the last thing he wanted.

With impatience etched into his voice, he cut straight to the point.

"Let’s just get straight to it... What kind of cheats will I have?"

[....]

The cool currents shifted with a hint of surprise.

’Really? No questions about being born? Nothing at all?’

The spirit mused to herself, astonished that he had brushed past such life-changing details.

Still, as he had asked, she carried on speaking to him—if he wasn’t interested, she saw no reason to waste her breath explaining.

[Well, next step is to be born...but before that you need to understand somethings first. And I’m so happy that you at least were able to read all those stolen novels so this would pretty quick!]

"Hm.... what do I need to know?" Akasha questioned after hearing the seductive voice once again.

[Everything—and I mean everything—’fantasy’ is real. Cultivation, superpowers, dungeons, myths, gods, and more.]

"And what else?" Akasha asked rather nonchalantly, taking it all in with surprising steadiness. His hands kept flexing, the motion small but constant in the dark.

’I could have sworn... I asked to skip the obvious details,’ Akasha thought to himself after listening to the spirit begin to explain things about what was to come.

However, to him... he was prepared for any fantasy world that was to come after such a miserable life on Earth.

The currents grew momentarily turbulent with irritation.

’What the hell??? I’m literally on your side, and you’re internally bad mouthing me?’ The spirit thought while slowly becoming annoyed at how difficult he was being.

He had no idea how much he meant to this spirit, or how long she had been waiting for him. And he was also completely unaware that every thought in his mind was laid bare before her eyes.

Though his situation felt miserable, hers was no better—and perhaps worse—since he had spent all his time on Earth in a fantasy realm.

[Alright, forget it, you’ll be born in about 30 minutes,] she said, mirroring his own mindset.

[You can choose the type of world you’ll enter, along with your race and any basic details you want. You also get three divine wishes to start your life, so use them wisely—courtesy of your benevolent mother, of course.]

The spirit said totally skipping the introduction as he requested, her velvety tone carrying a hint of playful exasperation through the darkness.

In that moment, silence swallowed everything.

[.....]

Ahem!

Akasha cleared his throat, the sound cutting through the void. His mood did a complete flip in an instant.

"Come again... say what?"

"You’re bullshitting me, right?" Akasha asked without even giving her the chance to speak.

His voice carried an edge of disbelief after she casually mentioned the existence of a Mother he had never heard of nor met.

[....]

"Um, Hello?!"

"You know what?"

"Fuck it, let’s just start."

-----

[~Well, let’s begin~] The spirit’s voice sound through his mind once more.

"Okay so what do I need to do? And why am I still in darkness?" Akasha spoke, now thoroughly tired of the complete utter darkness.

[Let’s start with the kind of world you’d like to be born into,] the spirit said, sitting cross-legged outside the egg.

[But before you begin, let me make one thing clear: under no circumstances will you be born into another family. Your mother... well, she wouldn’t be too happy about that.

And, as I mentioned before, you’re in the final stage of your incubation, so of course you can’t see right now.]

’This so-called mother again,’ Akasha grumbled inwardly, having hoped to avoid the topic altogether.

After a brief bout of internal thought, he finally spoke.

"Okay, so I’m not one to hold grudges in particular unless someone really crosses me. I also understand that the world or the universe doesn’t revolve around me."

He wasn’t the type to believe he should have everything, nor the kind to hold anything against someone—especially when circumstances were beyond both their control.

Yet, despite all this, little did he know his words carried more truth than he could have imagined.

[....]

"But you have repeatedly spoken about this ’mother’ I supposedly have. Yet, who is she? And why are you here instead of her?" Akasha suddenly asked, his voice carrying a sharp edge through the utter darkness.

[Well, not to be cliché or anything, but you’re not strong enough to bear the weight of hearing her name. But you should know that she is always everywhere, always watching, yet she is somewhere existence cannot touch....]

The spirit spoke after pausing to consider how to describe his mother without harming him before he was even born.

’Honestly, there’s not much I can say... I’ve never really met her myself either. Besides, she probably doesn’t even think she was ever apart from him.’

"Well, okay, I guess..." Akasha said after briefly pondering the riddle.

He had already mentioned he didn’t really want to meddle with the backstory of everything.

He knew such things would be revealed in time, though he still needed to satisfy a bit of his curiosity.

"Oh, yeah right, the fantasy crap. Well, since I’m sure you know about Earth... " The geek who had devoured countless stolen novels took over.

"I prefer to start somewhere in the upper realms but not in the divine realms... if anything like that exists."

[Well—] The spirit tried to speak before Akasha continued.

"Wait a second, Miss Spirit~" He pictured himself standing atop a mountain, so strong no one dared blink at him.

’Haha, yeah... we’re going with that vibe.’ He thought briefly before continuing his explanation with unusual enthusiasm.

Basically, he envisioned a world that struck a balance—powerful, but not at the very top.

It would feature multiple races, not just humans, and serve as a gateway or ideal starting point to draw him into the unfolding events without being overly obvious about it.

He started going into more detail about specific power systems and so on, but that’s when she cut him off.

[Well, consider it done... but as far as the Power System and World layouts... it’s not something we can change. However, you have no worries as its indeed a boundless system for growth.]

She went on to explain what she understood about the cosmology and the power system.

[A/N: Check Aux Chapters on power system info.... as things would be revealed as the journey progresses.]

"Constellations and Gods, huh?" Akasha muttered. "Well, that sounds neat.... how about just sending me into an Old World with a pretty decent ruling faction?"

[Next, what age would you like to be reborn as?] she asked.

[Technically speaking your age is incalculable since your incubation has been going on since the beginning of time. But since you are already mentally 18 years old, you should have some suggestions, right?

Also, you might as well tell me the race you wish to start as. I shouldn’t have to suggest much since your imagination should be bright enough.]

"Beginning of time? Holy shit..." Akasha muttered as he finally recalled the earlier nonsense.

’Wait... just stay focused, Akasha... it’ll all make sense soon,’ he reminded himself, resisting the urge to demand answers about all the strange events.

Right now, he was far more excited to start his new life.

After some mindlessly processing, he decided to deal with it later.

[Yes, beginning of time, blah blah blah. We could’ve already been done with this if you weren’t acting so nonchalant. Hmph! Now Akasha, your age and race upon rebirth?]

"Oh, yeah I forgot again... You can’t really blame me" He muttered under his breath.

"But I want to be a....."
