Chapter 116: Yomi’s Reckoning (4)

The leaves chimed softly, their song echoing through the living canopy as Akasha and Sunya sat in the heart of the ancient tree.

Golden-green light danced across their faces, alive and warm, with the pulse of the world thrumming beneath their feet.

Akasha’s gaze flicked to Sunya, his voice casual.

"Beautiful, isn’t it?"

Sunya inhaled deeply, fighting the turbulence inside.

The scents of earth and bloom, the gentle sway of the branch, the quiet insistence of life pressed against her senses.

She opened her eyes with measured resolve—no longer gentle, but hard, like jade set in stone.

"What is it that you want?" she asked, each word deliberate, each syllable a challenge.

Akasha’s laughter wound through the ancient boughs—soft, almost reverent.

"Hmm... Do you mean in general... in life... or in this moment?"

Sunya went quiet, silently chiding herself for repeating the question, even if its meaning had changed.

’By the Supreme Goddesses... I’m letting him steer the conversation,’ she thought, frustration flickering beneath her calm exterior.

’But... why do I always feel so small in his presence?’

She felt the urge to remind herself that she was powerful too, that her voice mattered here, even if his confidence made the air feel heavier with every word he spoke.

She leaned forward slightly on the branch.

"What is it that you want in the war... and why did you bring me here?"

At her words, Akasha chuckled, and as the sound left his lips, the realm around them began to shift.

HUMMM!!!

The Elven Heaven dissolved, and they found themselves still seated on the same branch of the ancient tree... but now suspended in the vast, frigid void from the Oldest Ruins.

Kalpa floated in the distance — a radiant purple orb turning slowly, beautiful and fragile against the endless dark.

Sunya’s breath caught in her throat.

’How.... how are we shifting places so abruptly?’ She thought, certain this was Kalpa—she felt it in every fiber of her being.

Everything around her seemed undeniably real, with no hint of illusion.

The void pressed against her skin, its chill seeping deep into her bones.

The atmosphere carried the same weight and silence she remembered. Everything felt exactly as it should.

Akasha looked out at the world, his voice quiet and certain.

"This is what I want... all of it." He turned his gaze to her. "I’ve chosen this place as my home. It will fall under my rule... regardless of what anyone does or says."

[Sunya Ultos’ Favorability - 48/100]

Akasha saw this and smiled inwardly.

’And there it is,’ he mused, part of the reason he’d brought her here in the first place.

He recalled the first time he’d seen her with Jovian, and with their unique bond, he knew they’d meet again sooner or later.

’A Transmigrator... and a link to other worlds and pantheons,’ he thought, his interest in them not extending much beyond that.

Still, he’d already said he had no plans to make unnecessary enemies, and the two of them would be fine—as long as their favorability didn’t dip below forty.

Now, seeing just how deeply she loved her Celestial Moon Pantheon, he decided to reveal a bit of his goals.

’Miss Sunya... tell me, are you willing to die for them?’ he wondered, watching the conflicted frown on her face.

And... in this moment, to Sunya, his declaration sounded like arrogance so vast it bordered on madness.

Sunya’s jaw clenched, her breath leaving her in a sharp exhale.

She stared at Akasha, incredulous—the audacity of his words almost laughable if they weren’t so chilling.

’Does he even hear himself?’ she wondered, shaking her head.

’Men are really... foolish.’

She couldn’t wrap her mind around the fact that Akasha truly believed he could claim a world already guarded by entire pantheons.

Her fingers tightened on the branch as she fought the urge to scoff aloud.

Yet something in his eyes told her he meant every word, not as a wish, but a promise.

For a split second, she felt the hair at her nape prickle.

’What if he’s not just... spouting nonsense?’

She straightened, conviction burning through her voice—no room for care or caution, only truth.

"Lord Dream... or whatever your name truly is.

Despite your power at your age... you shouldn’t be so arrogant. The world of power is much vaster than just Kalpa or even the Orin Star System."

Akasha’s smile was thin, almost respectful, as she continued.

"And just so you know. Crossing the Celestial Sun Pantheon... is crossing the Celestial Accord."

Akasha shrugged casually.

"The Celestial Accord, huh?" he said with a knowing tone, already well aware of the alliance’s nature.

From delving into her memories and very being, he had uncovered everything accessible to him.

’Four Pantheos... from four distinct Star Systems...’ he reflected inwardly, just as the realm around them dissolved once again.

-----

They found themselves back in the waking world, standing right outside of the Divine Domain.

Akasha cracked his neck once, left then right, and handed Luna his wine glass.

She took it with a playful smile, brought it to her lips, and sipped. Her nose wrinkled almost immediately.

"Ughh... My Love... how do you drink this?" she murmured, though her voice held clear affection as she passed it to Yume.

Yume accepted the glass, took a delicate sip, and released a contented sigh.

"Ah~ Mistress, are you sure?" she asked, her tone confused yet curious.

The flavor was pure bliss to her—rich and complex, with layers that unfolded smoothly, perfectly balanced by the cold, sweet touch she adored. Luna’s eyes narrowed ever so slightly, observing her with an unreadable expression.

’Hmm... could she be tied to his races too?’ she wondered briefly before turning back to Akasha.

Akasha’s eyes locked on Jovian, Sunya, and the Cosmic Union Human lingering just two thousand kilometers in front of him.

His voice rang out across the open air, calm yet laced with warning.

"If you’re going to leave... leave. If not, don’t blame me if you die."

Jovian’s smile grew wider, wild and thrilled.

"Like hell I’m leaving!" he shouted as he sprang into action.

HUMMMMM!!!!
