Chapter 42: 42: Examine

As soon as Sunnie made her way out of their cave, the Chief Elder quickly approached her.

"Oh there you are, great one. I’ve been looking for you all morning," he said.

"Me? Why?"

"The cave room is ready. And we’ve brought in some of the sick people. So please come and see them so you can know what to do."

Sunnie slowly nodded. "Oh. Okay." She wanted to speak to him about the river. But she guessed she’d have to wait after this.

"Okay. Give me some time, I’ll join you soon."

Sunnie had spent 100 heart coins in the system store getting an acupuncture pin. The system would provide some real-time assistance since she didn’t know how the hell to do anything with the pin!

So all she needed to do was learn the basics with the system instructions: knowing how to insert the pin and check the pulse.

Then the system would appear before her while giving her a real-time diagnosis of what was wrong with the patient she was observing.

After an hour, she soon arrived at the cave. People were already there anticipating her arrival.

Some women were curiously standing outside, peeping to see what was happening.

Some men were standing close to the entrance, and as soon as Sunnie arrived, she made her way to where the Chief Elder, the clan heir (Zuna’s twin brother), and some elders welcomed her in.

They led her into the cave where the patients lay on leaves and animal skin. Sunnie stared at them for a while and made an observation.

"Isn’t any female sick?" She hoped that would be the case.

"Ah! Well, they are. But we brought forth the males first," the Chief Elder explained. "These are our great men, so we’d like them treated first before the others..."

Sunnie turned and cast him a cold glare. "That’s absurd."

"How dare you speak to the Chief Elder like that...?" one of the men snapped.

The Chief Elder stopped him from speaking as Sunnie said, "What would you want us to do...?"

"This is a matter of who’s illness is more serious and should be prioritized. It’s not about gender. What if one of the ladies dies because you feel they shouldn’t come first since they’re ladies? What then?"

They said nothing.

Immediately, the clan heir said, "Don’t worry! We’ll get all of them here immediately."

He smiled as he spoke. The young man really did look like Zuna. While Zuna was pretty, he was just a handsome, male version.

He spoke with enthusiasm, and Sunnie could tell he was a good boy that wouldn’t give her issues.

"That’s smart of you, young one," she smiled at him.

He felt excited by the smile as he bowed.

"What’s your name?" she asked curiously.

"Zukka. My name’s Zukka."

Sunnie nodded.

Zuna. Zukka. She saw the similarities.

Zukka turned to the men and immediately instructed them to bring in the ladies as well. No one protested, and they did as she said.

The females standing outside were happy at this act. Sunnie saw Zuna amongst them, peeping, and she signalled her to come in.

Zuna shyly came in.

"She’s my assistant," Sunnie announced, staring at everyone. "The goddess has chosen her as a special assistant. So she’ll help me with all my missions here."

"So I’d appreciate everyone giving her that respect. Unless you wish to anger the gods."

"We don’t dare," the Chief Elder explained.

Zuna stared at Sunnie with a proud smile. She also exchanged glances and smiled with her brother, feeling proud.

They soon arrived with the sick ladies and carefully kept them on the leaves and animal skin as well.

After doing so, Sunnie proceeded with what she came to do while Zuna carefully followed behind like a disciple.

With the aid of the system, Sunnie scanned for whose condition was worst. She soon went to sit close to an older man.

Zuna watched as Sunnie took the acupuncture pins and firmly inserted them into the man’s hand. Everyone stared curiously, watching as she carefully navigated it.

Sunnie felt the man’s pulse and had her system analyze the man’s condition through the acupuncture pin.

After observing the man, she went over to two more men and five more women, doing the same studying through the acupuncture pin and her system analysis.

Everyone stared curiously, waiting for what she would say. They were impressed by how she was using a pin to do all this. It was strange and foreign to them. And this made them firmly believe that she was a goddess and this was her magical tool.

After Sunnie was done examining the last person, she handed Zuna the pin as she stared at the woman she had just examined.

"So...? What is it? What’s wrong with them?" the Chief Elder inquired.

Sunnie sighed as she stared at their curious faces. "It’s a linked issue."

"Linked? How?" Zukka asked.

"They’re sick from using the water from the river," she explained. "The sickness they obtained is different, but all can be traced back to the river water."

She explained as they all nodded.

"Ah... That makes more sense now..." the Chief Elder nodded. "I’ve always known that water would become an issue with the way it’s changing rapidly."

Sunnie nodded as she stared at them. "It must have taken a while before their illness manifested. Which means that most of you here are probably harboring the illness but haven’t manifested it yet," she said, staring at them all.

They all gasped, staring at themselves and also staring at Sunnie. There was pure shock and fear on their faces.

The Chief Elder gasped as he asked, "So.. what do we do, great one...?"

Sunnie smiled. "But don’t worry, I have a solution."
