Chapter 31: 31: Help on the way.

The journey to the Lion Tribe was farther than Sunnie thought.

It had been two hours and they were still walking through the thick woods. The sun was harsh, piercing through the trees and making it harder for Sunnie to see her way through.

She wondered if her skin would suffer the consequences of being exposed to the sun since she was now a beast woman. She didn’t have any sunscreen around.

Her legs had begun aching as well, but she didn’t see any place nearby to rest. The bushes around looked like a snake lived there; she wasn’t risking any of that.

"How long do we have to go?" Sunnie casually asked, staring at Little Black who was also getting exhausted.

He sighed. "Far more. It’s not close by at all, we still have to keep moving for long..." He explained. "I think we should rest around here.."

They looked around; the silence around the thick bushes was frightening.

"....."

"....."

"Let’s just keep going," Sunnie suggested.

"I agree," Little Black nodded as they moved.

They had walked for another twenty minutes, Sunnie was finding it hard to feel her legs now.

But as they moved, they suddenly heard a sound.

"What’s that?" Little Black looked around, alert. The two of them panicked that some beast was after them again!

"Come on..." Sunnie gasped.

They saw the bush move and they stepped backwards, thinking of a quick way to combat anything coming from there.

But Sunnie was rather relieved when a familiar figure made its way out of the bushes. It was the wolf from earlier, the one that had been enjoying her cooking.

"It’s the big bad wolf," Little Black still ground his teeth, alert.

But Sunnie smiled. "Oh you! Why are you here?"

The wolf approached with the plate. Sunnie came forward as the wolf kept the plate in front of her.

Sunnie smiled as she patted it on the head. Little Black watched from behind. He still wasn’t at home with this wolf!

"You came to give me my plate again..." she smiled. "Good boy..."

The wolf suddenly turned and bent down a bit. It was a clear gesture, requesting that Sunnie hop on.

Sunnie was surprised. "You’re offering me a ride?"

The wolf nodded.

Sunnie smiled, surprised.

Sunnie was happy. "That’s.. cool!" She guessed what they said was true. The good you do always comes back to you.

"It’s a trick!" Little Black was still on alert. "Don’t buy it too easily."

Sunnie would have thought deeper into this if she still had the strength to walk for another two hours or something.

But she was exhausted, so she was grabbing any opportunity for transport possible!

"Don’t look down on the wolf’s kind gestures," she smiled as she made her way onto the wolf.

Sunnie had ridden a horse, but this was new to her. Riding a wolf. But she guessed it wasn’t so different.

She was sitting on the wolf as she looked down at Little Black who was staring at her, shocked.

She smiled, stretching out her hand. "Come on! The wolf is trying to repay us for the meal. Don’t let him down."

Little Black folded his arms and shook his head. "No. I won’t be climbing on this big bad wolf!"

"...." Sunnie blinked. "Oh. Okay then... I guess you still have the strength to walk. Let’s go."

They continued moving. The wolf considerately carried Sunnie on his back while Little Black led the way, walking.

It wasn’t up to ten minutes before Little Black broke out in a loud gasp. "Oh! Whatever!" He turned to the wolf and gave it big rabbit eyes. "Can you also give me a lift?"

Sunnie smiled as the wolf slowly turned and continued walking.

Sunnie laughed even more. "I guess it heard all you said about it. Now it doesn’t want to help you again," she laughed.

Little Black blinked in shock. "That’s not fair!" He snapped, following them behind. "How can you not help me? I want to get on too!"

But the wolf didn’t bother stopping; he continued moving while Sunnie laughed out loud, her laughter filling the forest.

"Next time, don’t be too rude to Mr. Wolf, okay?" Sunnie had said as she tapped the wolf on the head, pleading with it to consider helping poor Little Black.

Soon, Little Black was also on the wolf, sitting in front of Sunnie. He had a frown on his face as he folded his arms while the wolf moved.

Sunnie laughed as they continued their trip.

In about an hour, they finally arrived at the river.

Sunnie and Little Black got down from the wolf and looked around. Sunnie observed how big this body of water was.

There was a mountain at a distance through which water fell into this river. But even with this, Sunnie couldn’t help but notice how greenish the water looked as well. It was also contaminated as Little Black had suggested.

The setting of this space was like an abandoned beach. A body of water, a small sandy land, and then the forest through which they had come out.

But everything about this space was dirty. There was a lot of dirt on the sand. Bones, pieces of meals, leaves, and so on.

Sunnie stared at the wolf that had its eyes in a particular direction for a while. And after a while, the wolf began stepping backwards.

Sunnie traced its eyes to a direction. There was a path leading to another place after the mountain.

"That’s the tribe," Little Black explained as the three of them stared in that direction, looking at the path that led to the Lion Tribe. "And the big bad wolf is clearly scared of it. So I doubt it’s helping us."

Sunnie turned. "Even the big wolf is..." Before she could turn to the wolf, it was already gone. The two of them stared at each other; they didn’t even know when the wolf took off.

"I guess this lion tribe really is something," Sunnie sighed.
