Chapter 217: 217: Yes, Still Mad. But...

Sunnie almost forgot to speak as she stammered, "Don’t mention it at all. I’m not mad at you or anything... am I feeding you right now?" She said, brushing her hands free from him.

Eris smiled. "Is that so? Then that’s great. It’s great."

"But how did you come up with all the plans and all?" Sunnie casually asked. "I mean, from the way Luka and the rest were urging me to go back from the farm and all, it was almost as if they were all part of the plan."

Immediately, Luka smiled as he replied without much thought. "Well, yeah, we were actually part of the plan. You see, Eris had told us about it a while ago, and we helped him through it."

"..."

Sunnie paused as she stared at Luka and then at Eris. Her brain had gone numb at the moment while she thought through what she had just heard to make some meaning of it.

Eris blinked as he cast Luka a cold glare. It was clear that it was supposed to be a secret, and Luka hadn’t kept it. Now Sunnie was shocked.

"Wait, so you all were part of the plan... except me?" Sunnie asked, looking around.

The women shook their heads along with the chipmunks. Zuna and Little Black also shook their heads as Sunnie stared at her beast husbands and Zukka.

They blinked.

Sunnie scoffed. "So you were all aware." She stared at those who hadn’t shaken their heads in denial. At that moment, she had known that they were the ones who were in it together.

"Well..." Eris cleared his throat. "Well, the thing is, I told them so they’d help me gather evidence and all. So..." He cleared his throat.

But Sunnie didn’t seem satisfied with that answer. She casually cast a cold glare at him while he continued explaining.

"Well, I was scared that if I told you, you might get too emotional and wouldn’t be able to stop yourself from wanting to take her down immediately..."

Sunnie folded her arms and rolled her eyes. "So I’m too emotional?"

"Ah, no, that’s not what I meant. I wanted to surprise you. Surprise..." Eris said, forcing a smile. "Now can we continue eating?" He opened his mouth to be fed.

But Sunnie wasn’t impressed at all. She cast him a cold glare as she set the food down and got up to her feet. "You can feed yourself or ask your non-emotional teammates to do that. I’m too busy now."

She said as she turned and walked off toward the stream.

"Well..." Eris tried to stop her, but she was already gone. He was left sitting there with the meal in his hands instead.

Eris sighed deeply as he turned and stared at Luka, who was happily eating and feeding Ronan on his lap.

"You..." Eris glared at him. "You did this on purpose, right? Couldn’t you just shut up or something? Why did you have to go blab it out now? Couldn’t you see that we were having a moment here?"

Luka blinked at him with a smile as he shrugged. "Well, I didn’t know. I didn’t mean it either, so don’t be too emotional. Okay?" He winked at him.

Eris was speechless. "You... you did it on purpose. Is this your way of getting back at me or something?"

Luka shrugged. "We’ll never know." He smiled. "But instead of staying here and asking me why I did it, I think you should go and meet her instead. Maybe that’ll help you." He smiled as Eris immediately got up to his feet.

"I’ll deal with you soon," Eris said as he turned and ran after Sunnie.

---

The stream side had become Sunnie’s go-to place for calming down. She arrived and began staring into the stream before picking up a stone and throwing it in.

She threw a few more stones inside, feeling them ripple through the water and finally settle at the bottom.

She stood there, calm, watching the moon reflect over the water.

"You promised you wouldn’t be mad at me and wouldn’t ignore me either," Eris said as he approached from behind. He came to stand beside her. "So you should keep that promise."

Sunnie was quiet for a while before she said, "I’m not mad at all."

He smiled. "I doubt it." He slowly took her hand and laced their fingers together. "Don’t be angry. I’m sorry for not telling you. Okay? Next time, I promise I’ll tell you everything. Okay?"

Sunnie let out a soft smile as she stared at him. "What are you doing? I’m not a kid..."

But Eris took her hand and softly kissed it. "Sure. You’re not." He smiled at her—a contagious smile that made Sunnie smile as well as she looked ahead.

"So you’re not mad at me anymore?" he asked.

She smiled. "No. I’m not mad at you. I guess I was being dramatic."

"No. It was a valid reaction. So don’t worry at all." He smiled as he ran his fingers through his hair, staring deep into her face.

Sunnie shook her head. "You’re so good with words that I don’t even know what to believe from that tongue anymore."

He smiled. "For you, believe everything. Everything that comes from my tongue. As long as they’re for you, believe it."

Sunnie stared at him as her heart fluttered beyond control. He really was good with words, and she didn’t even know how to hide the fact that she was blushing.

At that moment, Sunnie was interrupted by the sound of the system beeping.

[Ding!]

[Congratulations Host! Eris’s Affection Level has immensely improved!]

[New Husband Taming task available!]

Sunnie gasped as she stared at the system before her. She was surprised at how much it had gone up. But what shocked her even more was how predictable the upcoming task was.

She could just tell what it was. And before long, it unfolded before her.
