Chapter 1526: Chapter 216 - Samui (5)
Before my fight against Lucielle took place, I decided that I needed to spend some time practicing with Samui while also wielding Ayuru at the same time.
I still wasn’t particularly good at dual wielding. To be honest, this was literally the first time in my life that I had ever attempted something like this, and the fact that I was trying to do it while using what were essentially legendary cursed swords probably wasn’t helping my situation at all.
I extended both of my hands outward, and the moment I did, the two cursed swords materialized in my grasp. I immediately wrapped my fingers around their hilts and held them tightly, trying to get a proper feel for their balance, their weight, and the strange sensation of wielding both of them simultaneously.
Surprisingly enough, both of them felt pretty light to hold in my hands.
Honestly, I had a feeling that neither of them would appreciate it very much if I pointed out that one felt heavier than the other. They would probably get offended if I even suggested something like that. Then again, considering that neither of them was actually human, I doubted that concepts like gaining weight or losing weight were things they had ever needed to worry about in the first place.
"Well then, I guess I’ll be using both of you today," I said while adjusting my grip. "Are the two of you ready?"
"Yes, Master!" Ayuru answered enthusiastically.
"Ugh... why am I even participating in this...?" Samui muttered with obvious reluctance.
Ayuru sounded as energetic as always, while Samui sounded like she would rather be anywhere else in the world. Unfortunately for her, she didn’t really have much of a choice in the matter. Whether she liked it or not, we were doing this.
At the moment, I was supplying her with a substantial amount of life force. Even though the amount I was giving her should have been enormous by normal standards, I honestly couldn’t feel any significant drain on myself whatsoever. It almost felt as though she was only taking a tiny fraction of the seemingly limitless amount of life force that existed inside me.
"I seriously can’t believe how much life force you possess," she said after remaining silent for a moment. "I’ve never encountered anyone remotely like you before. Even the strongest people I’ve ever known couldn’t sustain me for more than an hour. Yet somehow, you’re managing this without any difficulty at all. Honestly, your life force doesn’t even feel like it’s getting depleted. It feels more like I’m only scratching the very surface."
"Now you understand how incredible Master truly is," Ayuru said proudly. "You should simply accept reality and submit yourself to him. Continuing to be stubborn won’t do you any favors in the long run."
"I don’t want to submit to anyone," Samui replied immediately. "I’m a legendary cursed sword. Even Jeanne from the the human legends never truly made me submit to her. Why would someone like me willingly reduce herself to becoming nothing more than another person’s weapon?"
"Master isn’t just another person," Ayuru argued without hesitation. "Master is exceptional. Being held by him is something that we should all be grateful for."
"Exceptional, huh?" Samui asked, sounding more thoughtful than before.
The way she said it made her sound like she was actually considering the possibility.
Although she had been extremely prickly when we first met, it felt like she was gradually beginning to warm up to me, which honestly wasn’t a bad thing. Sure, there was still a lot of friction between us, but I had a feeling that our relationship was moving in a positive direction.
Besides, I was beginning to suspect that her attitude came from having a somewhat tsundere personality, which was honestly a pretty surprising realization.
Seriously, who actually expects to encounter a tsundere sword in their lifetime?
Out of all the strange experiences I’d had in this world, discovering that one of the legendary cursed swords possessed the personality traits of a tsundere was somehow near the top of the list. Life really did have a strange sense of humor sometimes.
After that little exchange finally ended, I decided it was time to actually begin practicing.
I started by swinging Samui around a few times to get accustomed to her.
The moment I moved the blade through the air, I immediately noticed how natural it felt in my hand. Her weight distribution was excellent, and the overall sensation of wielding her felt strangely comfortable, almost as if holding her had always been something I was supposed to do.
"Oh?" I asked with a slight grin. "Samui, are you actually considering my offer now?"
The reason I asked was because I had noticed something interesting.
The amount of life force she was draining from me had decreased, and she had also made herself significantly easier to wield. Naturally, I assumed that she was finally beginning to accept the possibility of allowing me to become her master.
"Ha?" she replied immediately. "Are you actually out of your mind?"
Apparently, that assumption turned out to be completely wrong.
"I’m doing you a favor, that’s all," she continued. "I don’t want you accidentally throwing me somewhere because you’re incapable of handling me properly, so I reduced the burden I’m placing on you. You should be grateful."
She really was acting exactly like a tsundere would.
At that point, I honestly couldn’t think of any other explanation whatsoever.
She was trying to act cold and distant while simultaneously making things easier for me and pretending that she wasn’t doing anything nice at all. The more she spoke, the more obvious it became.
Actually, now that I thought about it, she even sounded a little bit like Titania.
That realization was somehow both amusing and terrifying at the same time.
I wasn’t entirely sure whether I should have been happy that I could handle a tsundere personality so well, or worried that I was apparently attracting them without even trying.
