Chapter 1519: Chapter 215 - Lucielle’s Pride (5)
"You really are someone I can’t understand..." she said, staring at me with a look that was somewhere between disbelief and irritation. "You’re saying something like that as if it’s the most natural thing in the world. And the worst part is that you’re saying it so seriously that I genuinely can’t tell whether I should take you seriously or assume you’ve completely lost your mind."
I couldn’t help but smile a little.
It seemed like she still wasn’t quite where I wanted her to be, but I could tell she was slowly getting used to talking to me. Maybe "warming up" wasn’t exactly the right phrase, considering she looked like she wanted to stab me half the time, but compared to how she’d acted before, this was already progress.
A little more, and I’d probably be able to push her exactly where I wanted.
"Why?" I asked. "Are you scared?"
She frowned.
"Scared?" she repeated, sounding genuinely offended by the suggestion.
I shrugged casually.
"I mean, don’t tell me..." I said, deliberately dragging out my words. "You’re a virgin."
The expression on her face changed immediately.
"Don’t call me that," she said, glaring at me. "I don’t even know what that means. If you’re using a word I don’t understand, then there’s a very high chance you’re insulting me."
Honestly, that wasn’t entirely unreasonable.
Calling someone a virgin could be a a genuine question. It could also be an insult.
Sometimes, it somehow managed to be both.
"I’m asking if you’ve ever had sex before," I explained.
She blinked slowly in apparent disbelief.
Then she looked even more annoyed.
"I am not Lust," she said.
"I know," I replied without hesitation.
"Then why are you asking?"
"I just wanted to confirm it."
Well, that pretty much confirmed my suspicion.
It seemed that Lucielle really was a virgin.
I had to admit, I was genuinely surprised. Someone as old as her still being a virgin wasn’t exactly what I’d expected.
Then again, now that I thought about it, I’d met plenty of people who were thousands of years old and still had never experienced a man’s cock. Apparently, immortality didn’t necessarily come with experience.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" she asked suspiciously.
"Nothing," I said. "I was just... surprised, that’s all."
"Surprised?" she repeated with visible suspicion.
"Yeah. I honestly thought you’d have some experience with that kind of thing. I didn’t think you’d actually be a virgin."
Her eyes narrowed noticeably.
"You’re making fun of me."
"I’m not," I answered immediately.
"You are," she insisted without hesitation.
"I’m really not," I said again.
"You absolutely are," she replied firmly.
I sighed.
"It’s not like being a virgin is some kind of crime," I said. "Or a sin. Honestly, if anything, it’s probably something people should value more instead of just giving it away to someone who doesn’t deserve it."
She stared at me for a few moments.
Then she crossed her arms.
"You sound less like someone offering a compliment and more like someone trying to get on my nerves."
"I wasn’t trying to do that."
"You were," she replied without missing a beat.
"I really wasn’t trying to," I argued.
She continued staring at me.
I had the feeling that no matter what I said, she wasn’t going to believe me anyway.
"You do understand who you’re talking to, don’t you?" she asked. "You know who I am."
"Of course I know who you are."
"And despite that, you’re saying all of this."
"That part is also true."
Her expression somehow became even more irritated.
"Our previous battle ended in a draw," she continued. "Do you honestly believe you’d be capable of achieving that result again?"
That was exactly what I’d been waiting for.
Actually, saying it like that wasn’t entirely accurate.
This was precisely the reaction I had expected.
Lucielle was prideful.
She wasn’t merely prideful by nature.
She was the Sin of Pride.
If she wasn’t proud, then something had gone terribly wrong somewhere in the universe.
Which meant that if I pushed the right buttons, she’d react exactly the way I wanted.
And thankfully, those buttons weren’t particularly difficult to find.
"Well," I said, pretending to think about it for a moment, "if you’re really that confident..."
She raised an eyebrow.
"Then what?" she asked suspiciously.
I smiled slightly.
"If I defeat you in a fight, can I have sex with you?"
For a brief moment, she simply stared at me.
Honestly, I couldn’t blame her.
Looking back on it, that sentence probably sounded completely insane.
Actually, it definitely sounded completely insane.
Still, at this point, subtlety wasn’t going to accomplish anything.
Sometimes, the simplest approach was the best approach.
Sometimes, it was also the stupidest approach.
Occasionally, those two happened to be exactly the same thing.
"I don’t want to waste any more time talking to you," she said flatly. "If you have enough free time to come up with something that idiotic, then perhaps you should spend it figuring out how to escape from Satania."
"Are you afraid you’re going to lose?" I asked.
The reaction was immediate.
Her eyes sharpened considerably.
"What?" she asked with clear irritation.
That reaction was exactly what I wanted.
"During our last fight," I continued, "we fought for five days and ended in a stalemate. But by the end of it, I was catching up to you."
"Delusional," she answered dismissively.
"I was," I insisted confidently.
"You were not," she replied immediately.
"I was getting close," I argued.
"You weren’t even close," she responded.
I grinned.
"The fight only ended because neither of us wanted to keep dragging it out. But if we’d actually continued without stopping, what do you think would’ve happened?"
She didn’t answer right away.
I continued speaking anyway.
"I would’ve won."
For several seconds, she simply stared at me.
Then she glared at me again.
"Stop spouting nonsense."
"Why?" I asked. "Because you think I’m wrong?"
"Because you are wrong."
"Then let’s test it."
Her expression didn’t change.
"Test it?" she repeated carefully.
"Yeah," I answered without hesitation.
I took a step forward.
"Let’s find out who would’ve won."
She folded her arms.
"And how exactly do you intend to do that?"
"Simple," I answered confidently.
I smiled.
"This time, we don’t fight for five days."
She remained completely silent.
"We don’t fight for one day."
She still didn’t say anything.
"We don’t even fight for one minute."
Her eyes narrowed.
"I’ll defeat you in a single second."
The air around us seemed to grow heavier.
"And if I do," I continued, "you’ll agree to have sex with me."
She stared at me.
I stared back at her.
Honestly, there was a part of me that expected her to just leave.
Another possibility was that she’d kill me.
Honestly, both options sounded pretty reasonable.
Instead, she remained silent.
Several seconds passed slowly.
Then several more seconds passed after that.
Finally, she spoke.
"Deal."
That was all she had to say.
Just one single word.
And somehow, that single word told me everything I needed to know.
Her pride had won.
Or perhaps it had already lost.
That part depended entirely on perspective.
Either way, she had accepted.
And just like that, our second battle began.
Only for it to end almost immediately.
Before Lucielle could even comprehend what had happened, she found herself lying on the ground.
A blade was pressed against her neck.
And that blade wasn’t Ayuru.
