Chapter 193: Chapter 191: The Goblin’s lair
"Goblins normally are not a big deal when they are in one or two, but they are cunning creatures filled with greed, you cannot underestate them, if not I would have gone to hunt them myself, what is more weird is the moment they hear around they run and wait till it cools off and then eventually come back again, it’s evident that they are trying to play tricks...by the way, do you really need to write?"
"I want to keep record of all my adventures, don’t mind me, you can continue" Rein smiled shyly.
"Okay... we’ll goblins often use worn out weapons, from adventurers, most time you see short swords, spears and Morningstars, they mainly wear leather clothing but you can see some in metal Armour covering half of their body, those ones are likely to be warriors of the clan and there are hobgoblins too, those ones are taller, uhm... normal goblins are about four feet tall but those ones are close to six feet. Though it’s a rare case but you might have to beware of a goblin shaman, a mage goblin. However if you do meet a goblin shaman, then will you definitely meet a goblin chief and in that case the hobgoblins will be very strong. Are you really sure you can do this on your own?"
"It’s okay Mr Bristol, besides these are just hypothesis they might not be as much as you think", ’besides I can summon Katherine or Ben anytime I want’
"*sigh* okay, I will trust you Sir Rein. We will wait for them as usual"
Rein looked out the window, ’The sky is getting dark, I can’t wait to get this over with, the day after tomorrow is a new year, the folks on town say new year is always the best in Potram’
Thurber came running down the stairs from.his room, "Father! Father!! They are here the goblins."
"That’s quite early" Bristol stood and so did Rein.
"...But Thurber, where are you going all dressed up like that"
"...I’m going to fight the goblin with the adventurer"
"Thurber, you can’t it’s very dangerous"
"No father, father I want to go" He sits on the flow and begins to throw his legs in the air.
"We could start his lessons today?" Rein said.
"But Sir Rein, I know you are strong you will definitely be able to protect him but I’m afraid he would hold you down"
"Don’t worry Sir Bristol, I can handle this, if it’s more than I can handle I will retreat with Thurber’s life as the priority"
Bristol smiled, "it’s reassuring when it’s coming from you"
Thurber jumped up, "yay! Thank you father!"
Rein smiled and nodded at Bristol, he also did the same. Rein headed outside towards the farm, he tried to pull out the black sword but it still didn’t pull, then he kept it and brought out white dragon, he brought out two daggers and gave them to Thurber.
"Wow, I can have a weapon too"
"You must obey me, since I’m your instructor now. And you must speak respectfully"
"Seriously...? You are boring"
Rein looked at him and stretched his hand forward, "my daggers..."
Thurber immediately bowed, "forgive me sir, I will obey you sir"
Rein scoffs, "that’s better"
They went closer to the goblins who were busy removing the plants from their bedding and putting them in a sack. The goblins saw Rein and Thurber coming but instead kept doing their thing.
"That’s weird, they saw us but are not concerned about anything" Rein closed his eyes, ’remote sensing’
He immediately felt the huge amount of the goblins present.
’What is this ridiculous amount? And why are they able to mask their presence so well, it’s weird’
Reinard touched Thurber, "get ready for a big fight Thurber"
"Yes teacher" Thurber stretched the daggers in his hand and lowered his legs a little.
Rein looked at him, ’oho, that’s a good stance to begin with’, "have you learnt how to wield double weapon before?"
"No, but father has been training me since I was five, we use brooms"
Rein was surprised, "why did you lower you legs and stretch out your arms?
"Well father said, in order to gather power through speed you have to press your legs down like this, that way you are making your body weight count and when you run towards your target, having applied force when you were pressing down, the force gives you a push forward making you faster than usual, and packing a power proportional to your body weight. And I stretched out my hand to compensate for the short hand, father didn’t teach me that, it’s common sense"
Rein’s mouth fell, ’this will be easier than I thought’
"Okay that’s good for a start, focus now. There are alot of them"
"Alot? But I only see two"
Rein went closer to them and when he finally got very close they snarled at him and immediately dashed to attack.
Pᴏᴡʜ
*whimpp*
Rein kicked away the goblin, it sounded like a wonderful dog as it was sent flying.
Thurber looked and opened his mouth in awe, "waaaahhh"
The second one slowly moved backwards and finally ran off with the sac.
"That bastard, he still had time to carry the sac" Rein unsheathed his sword and swung it swiftly. He looks at Thurber and looks forward, ’damn I’ve never thought someone while fight before...’
As expected many small goblins came running into the farm.
"Teacher they are much" Thurber exclaimed but instead Rein dashed into the mass of goblins and started to easily cut them. In a matter of minutes, Rein had already finished killing all of them without stressing but his body was filled with green blood. He stabbed into the head of the last one and the blood spilled on his face.
Thurber watched with admiration as Rein faced him he said, "you are strong"
"Are you just realizing that?" Rein replied him.
The little boy was dumbfounded as he has never seen anyone fight so go and fast like Rein.
"Thurber"
"Yes Master"
’Huh? His tone changed’, "we are heading to the goblins lair are you sure you still want to go?"
"Yes Master" he nodded confidently.
"Okay, now let’s trace that brat that escaped.", ’I dont even need to use dragon eyes, I can smell him strongly.’
Rein and Thurber proceeded forth to the goblins lair and after awhile they were standing in front of it.
"Eh...I didn’t know this cave was here?"
"Of course, we wouldn’t have found it if we didn’t trace them", ’Its the same technique they use in masking their presence. Should I be expecting a shaman, things may turn out just like how Mr Bristol said...’ Rein looks at Thurber, ’...I can do it, I’ll protect him.’
Rein used remote sensing to check the amount of enemy there I and afterwards breathes out slowly, "Thurber"
"Don’t ask me to go back master"
’What a kid...’,"No, I won’t. What I want to say is; there are a lot of goblins in there I might not be able to say much, I want you to take note of every of my actions... also...’ Rein brought out the red robe he used when during the fangdorr War, he covered Thurber with it and suddenly the robe fitted to Thurber’s size.
"Wow, where did master get this from"
Rein smiles "let’s go in".
Both of them walked into the cave. There was nothing extraordinary or suspicious as they entered all that was there was silence, sound of bats and crickets, except from sudden thud sounds which barely even startled Thurber.
They went deeper and were beginning to encounter small fries, like cave spiders which Thurber jumped ahead and dealt with. Rein gave him a compliment at times and some time corrected his disposition till they finally arrived at a dead end.
Rein touched the wall.
"Uhm... Master, it’s a dead end"
Rein activated dragon eyes, what he saw was not a wall but instead mana covering the opening on both walls.
’That confirms it, there’s a shaman... how do I deal with a magician, if it’s a magician, I might not well be able to protect Thurber well... I’ve not really fought magicians...’ Rein thought thoroughly before he decided to enter the goblin main lair.
Thurber stood there in silence and watched since Rein didn’t answer him the first time.
’Well we can consider it training for us both...I’ll be learning how to take care of magicians and Thurber will be gaining real battle experience. I’ve got this’
Rein stretched his hand forward, "Deviation"
The skill he obtained from Huemac, though Huemac tagged it as a worn out version of the real deal, Rein found the skill very powerful. A skill that disintegrates anything in front of him and having gathered enough level, he could even disintegrate mana.
The wall cleared off like smoke and the open entrance could be seen.
Thurber once again opened his mouth with surprise.
Rein entered and pulled out the white dragon, "who’s going first?"
All the goblins that were busy with one thing or another all faced Rein, there was a little pause and the next moment they all dropped whatever they were doing and began to pick up all sort of weapons they could grab their hands on, they screamed and wailed and all ran towards Rein.
Rein lowered his legs, ’I can’t use flashspeed, if I use flashspeed, then Thurber won’t be able to see what me’
Rein dashed in at his minimal speed and begin to slice them all open with his dragon eyes wide open he didn’t waste anytime on unnecessary defense and instead overpowered them fully. It was a one-sided massacre.
"I can barely see him move, he just goes and poof his already slicing their necks" Thurber’s eyes were wide opened as they experienced enlightenment from Rein’s movement.
{Half-Human Thurber is undergoing a change}
{Beast instincts are being awakened as a result to follow your movements and really see them}
{All-seeing eye has awakened}
{An eye passed down to the King of beast by an Estelar}
{An eye that can see ahead}
"...what the-"
Rein smiled and slightly increased his pace, Thurber’s eyes widened more and his eyeball thinned in, he was completely lost in focus that he was drooling.
Rein enjoyed his massacre and was more thrilled with Thurber’s immediate improvement, but he couldn’t deny that he was smelling something very rotten.
’...ah, damn this won’t be good’
