He let go of her right when Mom came in with the bowl of lotus root starch.

"Mr. Chi, your lotus root starch is ready." Mom smiled as she placed the bowl of lotus root starch in front of Chi Yu.
Chi Yu thanked Mom warmly, and she replied, "You’re welcome." She was about to leave when her gaze landed on Gu Yuan, pausing for a moment. Gu Yuan, of course, noticed the slightly unusual look from Mom and followed her gaze down to herself.

Gu Yuan raised her hands to tidy her collar, remembering how Chi Yu had just been playful, yet she forgot to check if she looked presentable.
Well, she forgot for a moment, and it was quite unpresentable.
Several buttons had been undone without her knowing, revealing mottled marks on her fair chest, and Mom saw everything. At this moment, Gu Yuan felt like she had nowhere to hide her face.
Looking at the upright culprit sitting beside her, she reached over and pinched the soft flesh on his waist. She didn’t use much force, but he let out a yell as if she had used tremendous strength.

Gu Yuan was annoyed and simply ignored him.
She didn’t want the lotus root starch anymore and was about to go upstairs. She had barely taken a step when the person behind her suddenly stood up, his warm, broad body pressing against her, fitting snugly against her back. Gu Yuan remained expressionless: "Mad? Mad about what?"
Chi Yu held her shoulders and turned her to face him, a lazy smile flashing across his face. Gu Yuan definitely didn’t miss it: "Taking advantage and playing innocent."
Chi Yu’s laughter made his chest slightly vibrate: "Alright, there won’t be a next time."
Gu Yuan pushed him, trying to shove him away, but he seemed made of iron, unmoving.
Chi Yu had always liked to cling to her, always.
Gu Yuan was reserved in expressing her feelings, unlike Chi Yu, who was passionate. She enjoyed spending time with Chi Yu, but she didn’t have the same intense desire as him to be inseparable, like conjoined twins.
Taking advantage of the moment, Gu Yuan couldn’t help but ask, "Aren’t you tired of clinging like this?"
Chi Yu hugged her: "No." As if thinking those two words weren’t enough, he added, "Definitely not."
Gu Yuan laughed at him, and as she laughed, she remembered him coming back early today: "Didn’t the company have nothing much today, just went to pick up a document, and right after I sat down, you came back. It’s like three days of fishing and two days of sunbathing, care to explain?"
He pulled her to sit back down.
The lotus root starch in the bowl would lose its taste if left uneaten. He pushed the bowl Mom just brought to Gu Yuan: "You have this bowl; I’ll have the one you just started."
Gu Yuan picked up the spoon: "Can’t eat too much?"
Chi Yu looked at her deeply: "Because it’s the one you started, so it’ll taste a bit sweeter."
Gu Yuan was left speechless.
Even if he hadn’t said it, Gu Yuan already guessed why he came back so quickly. He must have known she returned from the company. His clinginess reminded her of when they first got together; he always seemed to keep the freshest enthusiasm for her, never getting tired out, eyes always the brightest when seeing her.
Gu Yuan knew she loved Chi Yu dearly.
But compared to Chi Yu’s love, she felt ashamed; she paled in comparison.
Later in the afternoon, Chi Yu personally went to pick up Suisui after school. He originally wanted to pester Gu Yuan to go with him, but she found the weather too hot and didn’t want to go—plus, with Chi Yu, she didn’t have to worry about anything. This was the confidence Chi Yu gave her through his actions.
Chi Yu also found it too hot then, so he didn’t press Gu Yuan and drove to the kindergarten alone to pick up their daughter.
Now Suisui no longer attended early education classes; once she turned three, she started attending kindergarten.
There were more kids in kindergarten, and it offered a growing environment like any other child. Gu Yuan believed this was a better way for Suisui to develop, not allowing her to feel different from others from a young age, which might make her prideful.
As for whatever comes next, she’ll deal with it in the future.
At night, Suisui insisted on squeezing between her parents, "Mommy on the left, Daddy on the right."
Gu Yuan corrected, "Mommy is on the right."
Nearly three and a half years old and still confusing left with right.
Chi Yu laughed beside them, and Gu Yuan shot him a glare, making him close his mouth silently.
