Chapter 66: Class C accepts the duel

Unedited*

Darius looked up, in shock. "You bastard, that’s a family secret!"

"So what? I’m still an Asturias."

"You’re not an Asturias anymore!"

"I still have the blood of one. Besides, why should I care if it’s a family secret? You lost a bet with all the powerful people in town right there. It’s time for you to pay up."

"You..." Darius raised his hand, but remembering everything that could be revealed about him, he couldn’t say or do a thing.

"Do I have until Monday?" he asked, gritting his teeth.

"You have until next month, but if you do it before Monday at 7 p.m., you’ll prevent that from being published."

"Damn bastard..." Darius muttered furiously.

"Huh?" Lucius laughed and gave him a light slap near his ear. "I love you too, Darius. You’re my little brother, you know?"

"I didn’t tell you I loved you, you damn bastard!" Darius roared back and shook off Lucius’s hand. "I’ll see you here Sunday night," he said, before running off.

Lucius stood there in silence, watching him from behind with a sly smile.

After standing there in silence for 15 minutes, Lucius pulled a small black device out of his pocket and held it to his ear.

He also took out a pair of camouflage goggles and put them on.

Then...

"That damn bastard. I’ll kill him! I swear I’ll kill you, Lucius Asturias!"

Darius’s voice reached him... as did what he was doing.

"Exactly... be a good little brother and let me see more. Let me savor your desperation a little longer... that’ll be a big help." Lucius murmured quietly and began walking out of the building.

He was curious about whatever the Asturias family was building here. Why such a large building?

"Could it be that they intend to form a guild? If that were the case, they’d be seeking independence and total sovereignty. It would be problematic to deal with them then."

Lucius left there and ran a few more errands in town before returning to the workshop.

The night passed without incident.

The next day was uneventful; Class C didn’t respond to the challenge.

Lucius’s classmates were quite annoyed by this, but during this time, Lucius was grateful.

In a way, those guys’ arrogance gave him plenty of free time to get a first-hand look inside the Asturias Mansion.

It was annoying to see Darius for so long, but since he’d been busy in his own apartment these past few days, he hadn’t seen much of his daily life.

And on Saturday afternoon, at exactly 6 p.m., Class C responded to the challenge...

They accepted it.

"Those bastards..." Joao was angry. "They clearly did it on purpose so we wouldn’t be able to sleep today!"

Zachary was angry, too. "I heard they spent the whole day sleeping..."

"They’re a bunch of damn bastards!"

Joao looked at Lucius. "We’ve got to teach them a lesson!"

"Count on it," said Lucius, as the group walked through the hallways of the dorm.

This time they weren’t heading to their usual, lower-level coliseum. Instead, they were heading to a higher-level one—the Rank C coliseum.

Unlike the dull gray hue of the lower-level one, this coliseum had a distinctive and beautiful blue color.

Even the hallways were beautifully decorated in that bluish hue.

As they walked through the hallways, before reaching the coliseum, they came across a fairly large group.

There were 19 people in total.

Class C.

The two groups stared at each other intently.

The leader of Class C didn’t take his eyes off Lucius.

"So you’re the famous Lucius Asturias, huh," he said.

Lucius shrugged. "I would have liked you to know me for my good reputation, but it seems your impression of me is a bit off."

"Heh heh." The guy sneered and took several steps forward until he was standing right in front of Lucius. "I think everyone here knows you for your bad reputation. There’s nothing to hide."

Lucius remained silent.

"And since you’re arrogant enough to come here and challenge us..." The man placed a hand on his shoulder. "I’ll send you back to your official class. Class F."

Lucius stared at him intently for several seconds before raising his hand to grab the guy’s forearm. "Did you know that toolmakers who talk a lot are usually useless?" he asked in a mocking tone.

"Only the sarcastic and the quiet ones are worth anything in this field. I see you’re neither. So the outcome is already a foregone conclusion. Pray you don’t fall into a depression." Lucius shook his hand free and, with his other hand, patted him on the neck, as if to comfort him.

Then he kept walking and entered the coliseum.

Class C was momentarily stunned. Somehow, they hadn’t expected that reaction from Lucius.

"That bastard’s got guts." The class leader turned around and followed him into the coliseum.

This arena wasn’t just bigger—it also had far more advanced technology. The rooms here weren’t transparent; instead, they were equipped with devices to broadcast to the outside at key angles, albeit with some limitations.

The stands were larger, and there were far more people—which was the most significant change.

It was packed.

It was also a surprise for Class C; it was the first time they’d seen this stadium so full, with so many important people looking around.

"Hey, isn’t that Kael Vorren? Everyone next to him is from Classes B and A..."

"Look over there—it’s Class A’s teacher, Landon Smith!"

"Why on earth are so many people coming now?"

The Class C students hadn’t expected to find the place this packed.

Lucius didn’t mind, though the rest of his class certainly did.

They all felt more pressure.

Even though the difficulty remained the same, they felt as if it had increased.

Even the referee on this occasion was a renowned professor.

And among the judges... the previous 10 had been replaced; only one remained: the elderly judge, Andrew Morgan. He still held the highest rank.

As the match began, Lucius felt someone staring intently at him.

It wasn’t unusual—everyone was looking at him. But...

He turned his head toward the stands and looked to the right, then to the left.

’Strange. You’re not an ordinary person.’ His senses couldn’t track the gaze, but that look was very strange.

Perhaps a little... unfamiliar?
