Chapter 535: Chapter 536 I’m Just an Ordinary Dog After All_1

The lightbulb goddess has shown up again at the worst possible time, Aiden thought.

It was the same last time; this goddess seemed to enjoy doing these annoying things. To some extent, she was really like Melifilia and her lot.

Aiden ignored her and continued his conversation with Veronica, "Why do you suddenly ask this question? Have you encountered something?"

Veronica’s eyes widened instantly.

Veronica was serious and responsible in her work, and very organized. Aiden believed there had to be a reason for her to suddenly ask such a question.

"Recently, there has been an unfamiliar lady who comes to the prison every day looking for you," Veronica explained in a soft voice.

"Looking for me? Has she introduced herself?" Aiden asked.

"No, she hasn’t filled out any application forms, nor has she sent any letters to the mailbox. When we ask her, she says she wishes to introduce herself to you in person," Veronica said.

"What does she look like?"

"Very beautiful," Veronica said earnestly.

"And then? Any distinguishing features?"

"It’s just... very, very beautiful," Veronica found herself at a loss for words for the moment.

It wasn’t until now that she realized how difficult it was to describe the enigmatic beauty of the lady with the flowers. The lady’s facial features were all very symmetrical and attractive, with no flaws and nothing so prominent as to be unbalanced. She was like a statue crafted by a top artisan.

Aiden and Veronica stared at each other for a good while until finally, Aiden blinked, "That’s it?"

"I’m sorry, I don’t know how else to describe her..." Veronica’s voice trailed off.

"Then use the godly words I taught you to transform into her so I can see," Aiden suggested.

"Actually..." Veronica hesitated as she told Aiden the outcome of her earlier experiment.

"Can’t you replicate her using the ’substitute’ godly words?" Aiden frowned.

"Yes. I feel like the impression left was also very deep, but I don’t know what went wrong... When I try to transform into others, I can succeed," Veronica said, her head hanging in disappointment.

Aiden fell into silence.

Once taught, godly words are engraved in memory like a brand and can even be extracted from remains after death, making it basically impossible to recite them incorrectly. Veronica had successfully used godly words before.

Then, the problem must definitely lie with the mysterious lady who sent flowers.

"Phoenix, what do you think is going on?" Aiden sought the opinion of the goddess of revenge.

"The ’existence’ power must have failed, right? I don’t know much about the higher powers, let alone that I don’t have my memories from before my death..." the goddess of revenge responded with little interest, "All I can say is that there must be a higher-order godly word interfering, either from the user or the target."

After considering for a moment, Aiden thought that since Veronica said she could still turn into others, then the interference was not with her, but with the flower-sending woman.

Previously, Melissa had personally visited the prison to see him and mentioned she had arranged the next game’s setup. Could it be this mysterious flower-sending woman?

Seeing Aiden remain silent, Veronica couldn’t help but feel anxious.

"I’m sorry, sir. It’s my incompetence..." she said cautiously.

"No, you’ve done well," Aiden reassured, placing his hand on Veronica’s shoulder, "The fact that the other party cannot be mimicked using ’substitute’ is crucial information indeed."

"Really?" Veronica’s eyes widened, "You’re not just comforting me, are you?"

"At least, we can be sure of one thing: she is related to the power of authority, and that is significant," Aiden stated earnestly.

"That’s a relief," Veronica finally breathed a sigh of relief, "So, sir, what do you plan to do?"

Aiden thought for a while, "Well, since the other party hasn’t shown any overt hostility, it’s still better to make direct contact first."

"You still want to meet her?" Veronica started to get nervous again.

"Meeting her is necessary, or we won’t be able to gather any intelligence," Aiden answered.

"Yes, that’s right..." Veronica couldn’t argue, and her voice became quieter.

"This young lady pretty much wears her heart on her face," the goddess of revenge teased.

Aiden gave a helpless smile. Explaining things at this moment would seem very strange, so he simply changed the subject: "This time out, I encountered quite a few things."

"Did everything go smoothly?" Veronica lifted her face again.

"Overall, I was quite lucky, but it was genuinely dangerous. About that dog from earlier, I have something to explain to you..." Aiden’s expression became more serious, "In fact, he is a person."

Veronica tilted her head in confusion, "What do you mean by that?"

"It might be better to let you see for yourself." Aiden stood up to open the door, "Tony, come in..."

The apartment’s main door opened outward, and as Aiden opened it, he heard Tony give a yelp—the door had just hit him.

"Ah sorry, I didn’t realize you were right at the door... Wait, don’t tell me you were eavesdropping?" Aiden suddenly became aware of something.

Tony quickly scrambled up and shook his head frantically.

Looking at his reaction, it seemed he had been eavesdropping...

"Has this dog been outside the whole time?" Veronica was somewhat astonished.

"Due to some reasons, he’s temporarily unable to leave the dominion of The Codex," Aiden gestured Tony into the room, closed the door again, and then introduced him to Veronica, "This is Tony Dodge, the son of Professor Harrison Dodge."

"Eh?" Veronica was utterly baffled.

"No wonder you don’t believe it, Tony, please introduce yourself," Aiden said, turning to Tony.

"He can speak human?" Veronica was surprised.

"Of course, I told you he’s actually a person."

"..." Tony was silent, recalling the fact that he had accidentally overheard this big sister’s heart’s voice just now.

If she found out he was actually a person, would she... silence him?

After contemplating for a while, he opened his mouth and greeted, "Woof."

Might as well play the dog role to the end, I’m just an ordinary dog.

The room fell into silence, filled with an indescribable awkwardness.

After a while, Aiden looked at Tony in astonishment, "What are you doing?"

However, Veronica spoke emotionlessly, "Hello, Tony Dodge, my name is Veronica Wolfe, it’s a pleasure to meet you."

"Woof?" Tony was caught off guard.

"Really, you’re happy too," Veronica smiled and nodded.

"He’s just been imitating a dog bark, can you understand him?" Aiden turned his face back.

"If the boss says he’s a person, then he is!" Veronica replied with an air of it being obvious.

"Is that so?" Aiden didn’t know what to say.

Tony, at this very moment, suddenly felt a true sense of respect for the big sister in front of him.
