Chapter 243: Chapter 243: Real Men Should Do It—Mermaids!
"..."
After a brief moment of thought, Princess Shirahoshi gently shook her head.
"Um, I still won’t go out..."
"If I go outside, I’ll cause trouble for everyone else!"
Although Shirahoshi longed for life outside, she knew that if she went out, she would bring trouble to many people in this world. Compared to the outside world, staying in this room, staying inside this indestructible chamber, was what she ought to do. Only this way would she avoid causing trouble for her father. Only this way would she avoid making her father, the soldiers protecting her, the ministers, and her brothers worry.
"I asked whether you want to go out. I didn’t ask whether you should go out."
"The door is right there. I’ve opened it for you. All you need to do is nod, and you can leave this place."
Jovian pointed at the door behind him with a smile.
"But..."
"My father said there’s a bad person outside. A very, very bad person. He wants to hurt me. Only by staying here can I avoid being hurt by him!"
Shirahoshi kept waving her soft little hands back and forth. She really did want to go out, to leave this damned shell and see the outside world, but...
The outside was not safe. The outside was dangerous. The reason she had always stayed here was precisely because the outside was too dangerous.
"With me here, you don’t need to worry about anyone hurting you."
Jovian looked at the delicate, adorable Shirahoshi and smiled faintly. At the same time, he extended his hand toward her.
"I don’t need to worry about anyone hurting me?"
When Shirahoshi heard Jovian’s words, she raised her head, her eyes sparkling.
"Of course!"
Just as Jovian gave Shirahoshi his guarantee, a massive ax came flying toward Shirahoshi with a roar.
"Oh no!"
Shirahoshi looked at the enormous ax and curled up in fear, tears welling in her eyes.
Shirahoshi seemed to have already imagined the scene of the ax striking her and blood spilling everywhere.
"Boom!"
However, with a thunderous crash, the scene Shirahoshi imagined did not happen.
"Hm?"
Shirahoshi opened her eyes and looked over. Jovian was floating in midair, blocking the roaring ax with one hand.
"That was pretty dangerous."
Jovian held the ax in one hand and sighed.
"I..."
"I’m all right?"
Shirahoshi looked at Jovian, who had kept her safe, and spoke softly.
"Mm."
"Didn’t I already say it? As long as I’m here, no one can hurt you."
After Jovian finished speaking, his gaze turned into the distance. His eyes seemed to pierce through layers of barriers and look toward the vast, distant ocean.
There, a fish-man covered in bubbles, looking like some strange monster, was constantly using nearby weapons and throwing them toward Shirahoshi.
Jovian knew that fish-man’s identity, Vander Decken IX, the Mark-Mark Fruit user, a target-man who looked like a pile of crap.
Jovian was too lazy to waste words on trash like that. He picked up the weapon he had caught and threw it toward Vander Decken IX’s location.
"Boom!"
With a piercing howl, the entire deep sea seemed to be split apart by Jovian’s throw.
"!"
Shirahoshi stared wide-eyed at Jovian after he threw the weapon. This was the first time she had seen someone throw a weapon back.
"All right. There shouldn’t be any problem now."
After doing that, Jovian lightly dusted off his hands and smiled at Shirahoshi.
Meanwhile, Vander Decken IX looked unhappy.
"Who exactly is that guy?"
Vander Decken recalled the monster he had seen earlier, the one who lifted Noah and destroyed all of Fish-Man District, and his expression became somewhat worried.
"I really don’t know whether a monster like that coming to Fish-Man Island is good or bad for me!"
"If that guy’s target is Shirahoshi too..."
Vander Decken’s expression changed in shock. The moment he thought of that monster also targeting Shirahoshi, he knew he would be in trouble.
If he had to compete with a monster like that, he definitely could not win.
"Bahahahaha..."
"But I don’t think that’ll happen. After all, Shirahoshi’s body is so huge. How could a human possibly like her?"
Vander Decken muttered to himself. Suddenly, a piercing whistle reached his ears.
"Hm?"
Vander Decken raised his head in confusion.
Above him, a spinning ax was rapidly flying straight toward him.
"What?!"
Vander Decken watched the ax draw closer and instinctively searched for something to block it with, but his movements were ultimately too slow.
"Splatter!"
Before Vander Decken could pick up the weapon beside him, the ax sliced his head in half with a wet crunch.
"Pfft..."
A large amount of ketchup scattered through the seawater along with countless bubbles. Vander Decken collapsed completely, and the Vander Decken family finally vanished into history.
"Glug, glug..."
Fish-Man Island.
Amid a series of bubbling sounds, Jovian escaped Ryugu Palace with Shirahoshi and arrived on Fish-Man Island.
Mermaid Cove.
The place where mermaids gathered and lived, like a dream world, a place straight out of a fairy tale.
There was sunlight, blue sky, white clouds, and a beach...
Most importantly, beautiful mermaids wearing bikinis on their upper bodies were everywhere. Mermaid after mermaid twisted their bodies, revealing lovely and alluring expressions.
"It’s so beautiful!"
Shirahoshi looked at the sunlight, blue sky, and white clouds before her and let out cries of amazement.
"Hahaha..."
"The real sunshine, white clouds, and blue sky of the outside world are even more beautiful!"
Jovian looked at Shirahoshi and laughed loudly.
"The outside world..."
Shirahoshi blinked her large eyes. She was filled with curiosity about the outside world.
"Of course. Although the outside world is full of all kinds of threats, it’s different if I’m the one taking you there."
"As long as I’m taking you, you can go anywhere in the world."
Jovian looked at Shirahoshi and revealed a bright smile.
"Really?"
Stars lit up in Shirahoshi’s eyes as she asked excitedly.
"Isn’t that obvious?"
"Who do you think I am?"
"To put it bluntly, I’m effectively the strongest man on the sea."
Jovian did not make a move on Shirahoshi immediately, because when he saw her, he remembered that although Shirahoshi was huge and very beautiful, she was actually only fourteen years old this year, basically middle-school age. Jovian had not sunk so low that he would make a move on a middle schooler.
"A-amazing..."
Shirahoshi clasped her hands together and looked at Jovian in shock.
"Anyway, you stay here for now and let these ladies show you a good time."
"I’ve got other things to do too."
Jovian signaled the beautiful mermaids here to take Shirahoshi along and let her play in the water, while he also had things he wanted to play with.
"Princess."
"Come play with us."
The mermaids all seemed very enthusiastic. After hearing Jovian’s words, they pulled Shirahoshi along and ran off to play.
As for Jovian...
His reason for coming to Fish-Man Island was very pure. He had come here to play with mermaids.
"Hahaha..."
With a mermaid in each arm, Jovian laughed loudly.
Meanwhile, in Ryugu Palace.
"King Neptune, we are Marines here on behalf of the World Government. Strictly speaking, Fish-Man Island is also one of the World Government’s member nations. Therefore, according to the wishes of the current Marine Admiral Jovian, we have decided to establish a Marine branch on Fish-Man Island to ensure the safety of Fish-Man Island’s mermaids."
Jovian’s adjutant looked at Neptune before him and spoke in a deep voice.
"May I ask, are you the Marine Admiral?"
Neptune looked Jovian’s adjutant up and down, shook his head, and then asked.
"Uh..."
"I am not the Marine Admiral. I am only Admiral Jovian’s assistant. As for the Admiral..."
"The Admiral said he wanted to take a walk around Fish-Man Island alone, so he has already left..."
Jovian’s aide looked at Neptune and explained.
"What?"
"Admiral Jovian left?"
When Neptune heard that Jovian had left on his own, his expression filled with shock, and his brows furrowed tightly.
Neptune’s heart was filled with worry.
"What should we do if some fool who doesn’t know any better offends Admiral Jovian? Honestly..."
"Should I send men to look for him?"
"But what should I do if Admiral Jovian doesn’t want anyone disturbing him?"
"Sigh..."
"Being king really is so difficult."
Neptune kept sighing. Thoughts ran through his mind, but no matter how much he considered it, he could not come up with a good plan.
"Report!"
Just as Neptune was feeling immense suffering over the burden of being king, a fish-man soldier hurriedly ran over.
"What has you so panicked?"
"Don’t you know we have honored guests here?"
Neptune looked at the newcomer, frowned, and asked.
"Reporting, King Neptune! Princess Shirahoshi, Princess Shirahoshi has disappeared..."
The newcomer knelt on one knee before Neptune, panting heavily as he spoke with extreme nervousness.
"What?!"
When Neptune heard this, his eyes widened, filled with shock.
"Princess Shirahoshi disappeared?"
Neptune’s mind raced. Panic appeared on his face. He knew exactly who had been targeting his precious daughter. Now that she had left Hard-Shell Tower, his precious daughter’s life was in danger.
"Find her..."
"Hurry and find her!"
Neptune looked utterly panicked as he roared at the soldiers.
"King Neptune, may I ask why you are so panicked? Is there anything we can help with?"
Seeing Neptune’s panicked expression, Jovian’s aide walked up to him and asked.
"It’s nothing serious. My daughter has simply disappeared from Ryugu Palace for some unknown reason. Perhaps she was feeling playful. There’s no need to trouble you all."
Neptune waved his hand after hearing this. He did not want the soldiers before him to know too much about his daughter’s situation.
"Uh..."
"King Neptune, may I ask what your daughter looks like?"
Several soldiers looked at one another, then seemed to think of something. They bowed and asked Neptune.
"My daughter?"
"She is the most beautiful girl in all of Fish-Man Island!"
"Although I don’t know how you humans would judge her appearance."
"But by our fish-man standards, my daughter is absolutely no worse than Hancock, the Pirate Empress you call the world’s most beautiful woman."
Neptune looked at the soldiers with immense confidence. When it came to his daughter, he had nothing but confidence.
"Uh..."
"We’re done for!"
After hearing Neptune’s words, the soldiers looked at one another. In each other’s eyes, they all saw panic and confusion. Based on their understanding of their Admiral, if Neptune’s daughter really was that beautiful, then there was an eighty percent chance she had been abducted by their Admiral.
And the next problem was fucking huge.
"What are those expressions?"
"Do you know where my daughter is?"
Neptune looked at the expressions of the Marines before him, and his heart suddenly sank. In his guess, these people most likely knew something about his daughter’s situation.
"Well..."
"Actually..."
The Marine soldiers looked at one another. Everyone lowered their heads, not daring to look at Neptune.
The problem was that they had no way to say out loud that their Admiral was obsessed with women.
The current Three Admirals, Jovian, Issho, and Aramaki, were nicknamed by the people "Horndog," "Gambler," and "Poison."
Countless Marine veterans called them the ruined generation.
Of course, this was only their internal assessment of themselves. They absolutely could not let outsiders know about it.
"It’s fine! It’s fine!"
"It’s just that, Your Majesty Neptune, I believe you can rest easy about Princess Shirahoshi."
"She absolutely won’t be in any danger..."
"After all, there is currently a Marine Admiral in this country."
"I don’t think there is anyone in this world who could harm Princess Shirahoshi."
Jovian’s adjutant looked at Neptune and spoke seriously.
"If Shirahoshi can encounter the Marine Admiral, that would be wonderful!"
"What I’m afraid of is Shirahoshi running into a villain. If that happens, we’re finished!"
King Neptune kept shaking his head. If there were an Admiral-level figure willing to protect his daughter, he would indeed be relieved. What he feared was that his daughter had no one protecting her. If a fourteen-year-old girl was left unprotected, there was no telling what kind of trouble might occur.
"Uh..."
The Marines did not speak. They only lowered their heads guiltily.
"Admiral Jovian, please, please don’t cause any trouble!"
Jovian’s adjutant stood at Neptune’s side, shaking his head in deep distress.
Meanwhile...
"Hahaha..."
Jovian was already happily playing around with the mermaids.
Staying with that group of beautiful mermaids, Jovian felt endless joy in life.
A real man should come to Fish-Man Island and play with mermaids.
Yes, as a Marine Headquarters Admiral, Jovian was just that impressive.
He had set a fine Admiral’s example for his subordinates.
The strong should keep their promises. If you say you’re going to do mermaids, then you do mermaids.
As Jovian happily played with the mermaids, his thoughts drifted into the distance again.
"It’s time to head for the New World."
Jovian’s target was the distant New World.
