Chapter 240: Chapter 240: Fish-Man Island—Size Isn’t a Problem!
"Hah."
Late at night, Jovian rode a Marine warship across the endless dark sea with a half-smoked cigarette in his mouth.
"Admiral! Why are we leaving headquarters?"
Behind Jovian stood the aide Akainu had assigned him. At this moment, the aide’s eyes were full of confusion. He could not understand why Jovian, as a Marine Admiral, was secretly leaving Marine Headquarters under cover of night.
"Do you have a girlfriend?"
Jovian looked at his aide and asked.
"Not at the moment!"
The aide’s face turned red, but he still looked righteous as he straightened his back and answered Jovian’s question.
"Find one someday. Then you’ll understand."
Jovian patted the aide on the shoulder and left him with those meaningful words before disappearing into the darkness of the deck.
"Uh..."
The aide stared after Jovian in confusion. He thought over what Jovian had said, but still could not understand.
Perhaps it was because he was still too young. Or perhaps that was exactly why the man before him was an Admiral of Marine Headquarters, while he was merely a former Marine branch Vice Admiral and current Marine Headquarters Vice Admiral.
The next day, Jovian brought the warship to the Kingdom of Amazon Lily.
"Hahaha!"
Jovian looked at the paradise before him and laughed brightly, all while wearing a serious expression.
"I heard you became an Admiral of Marine Headquarters?"
When Elder Nyon and the others saw a warship arrive, they thought the Marines had discovered something and rushed over in a panic. Only when they discovered the person who had come was Jovian did they let out a sigh of relief.
"If I become a Marine, then I don’t need to spend money on food, clothes, or daily expenses, do I?"
Jovian looked at Elder Nyon and smiled lightly.
"You’re already so rich, and you still care about that?"
Elder Nyon was somewhat speechless. The man before her could clearly manufacture huge quantities of diamonds. For someone with such an ability to actually care about that little money was truly unbelievable.
"Ahaha..."
"When it comes to money, of course the more, the better."
"Who in this world would ever have a problem with money?"
Hearing that, Jovian only smiled lightly.
"You really are something..."
Elder Nyon looked at Jovian and curled her lips.
"Right, speaking of which, why are all of you so nervous?"
Jovian suddenly remembered something and asked Elder Nyon.
"Because a very extraordinary guest came to the island..."
After hearing Jovian’s question, Elder Nyon looked a little flustered.
"An extraordinary guest..."
Hearing that, Jovian raised a brow. He wanted to see what kind of person could be called an extraordinary guest by Elder Nyon.
When Jovian saw the guest Elder Nyon had called extraordinary, he really did pause for a moment.
"Are you Dark King Rayleigh?"
"The famous Pirate King’s right-hand man?"
Jovian looked at the man with short snow-white hair and a solid, muscular body and asked.
"Yo. I didn’t expect that even after running all the way here, I’d still run into young monsters like you."
Rayleigh turned around, froze for a moment when he saw Jovian, and then spoke somewhat helplessly.
"Ah..."
"Should I just take you down right here?"
Jovian looked at Dark King Rayleigh before him and smiled. Dangerous red light glowed in his eyes.
"Want to try, young man?"
Rayleigh looked at Jovian, who was emitting a vast pressure, and beads of sweat the size of beans rolled down his forehead. He had to admit that he was old. If it were against some weaker people, that would be one thing, but against someone like Jovian, he truly had no confidence.
"Forget it..."
"Even if I take you down here, I won’t get any benefits."
"I’ll catch you the next time the World Government collects the Heavenly Tribute."
Looking at Rayleigh, who had already taken a stance, Jovian gently shook his head. He planned to let Rayleigh off this time.
"Hah..."
"I didn’t want to fight you either."
"Looks like I’ll have to hide quickly after the World Government collects the Heavenly Tribute, so I don’t get caught by you and sent to the World Government in exchange for a bounty. Though I do often sell myself off for some money anyway."
After hearing Jovian’s words, Rayleigh let out a sigh of relief. As long as he did not have to fight Jovian, that was good enough.
"By the way, what are you doing here?"
"For the legendary Dark King Rayleigh to appear on the island of the Kuja is really something new."
"Could it be you’ve taken a liking to some girl?"
"You really are still going strong. Let me make this clear first, Boa Hancock is mine. The others don’t matter, especially a girl named Stobie. It looks like she’ll have a hard time finding a partner in this life, so I can help set you two up."
Jovian suddenly remembered something and questioned Rayleigh while warning him.
"Cough, cough, cough..."
Jovian’s words made Rayleigh feel like something was stuck in his throat, and he coughed repeatedly.
"I came here for something else! Not for women!"
Rayleigh felt somewhat helpless. He was already this old, so how could he still be going around looking for women? Although, for a real man... being without women was absolutely impossible.
"Hah."
"Then hurry up and handle your business. Once you’re done, leave this place."
"Otherwise, I’ll be in a difficult position."
"At the end of the day, I am a Marine Admiral."
"Watching a pirate stand in front of me without catching him feels a little uncomfortable."
Jovian looked at Rayleigh with some disdain.
"Uh..."
Perhaps because it was Rayleigh’s first time being looked at like this, he felt somewhat awkward.
"I’m still a legendary figure, you know. Could you show at least a little respect?"
Rayleigh spoke helplessly.
"You’re a pirate, aren’t you?"
"What kind of pleasant expression do you want me to show you?"
Jovian looked at Rayleigh indignantly.
"This..."
"Forget it. I won’t say anything else."
Rayleigh seemed too lazy to keep wasting words with Jovian. He had not come here to make himself uncomfortable. He had come here to find his good student.
"Since Luffy isn’t here, I’ll get going."
After learning that Luffy was not here, Rayleigh prepared to go somewhere else to search for his good student.
"Ah..."
After hearing Rayleigh’s words, Jovian finally understood why Rayleigh had appeared here. He seemed to think of something.
"Rayleigh..."
Jovian pressed a hand onto Rayleigh’s shoulder.
"What is it?"
Rayleigh looked at Jovian, who had stopped him, and asked in confusion.
"Don’t mislead the kid."
Jovian warned Rayleigh.
"..."
"That is none of your business."
Rayleigh was a little displeased. No matter what, he was the right-hand man of the Pirate King, Gol D. Roger. How could he mislead someone’s student?
"Sigh..."
"You really won’t listen."
Jovian looked at Rayleigh, who clearly had not taken his words seriously, and sighed helplessly.
Since Rayleigh had not listened, then forget it.
Rayleigh might have great leadership skills. After all, he was the Pirate King’s vice captain. But...
He really was not a good teacher.
If one had to say which "mentor" on this sea was the strongest, then it would undoubtedly be the one entrenched in Wano Country. It was said that among all living creatures, whether on sea, land, or sky, he was the strongest, and he possessed the great title of the strongest teacher across land, sea, and air, Kaido.
People all said that if you wanted one-on-one training, you should look for "Hundred Lessons" Kaido.
One club strike opens your energy pathways and lets you quickly learn Ryuo Haki.
A second club strike expands your spirit and lets you quickly learn Conqueror’s Haki coating.
A third club strike directly awakens you and lets you comprehend the spirit of Joy Boy.
Give me one freak, and in three strikes I’ll return you an Emperor. What is a master teacher? That is a fucking master teacher.
By comparison...
"Sigh."
Jovian looked at Rayleigh, who trained Luffy for two years yet gave him less improvement than Luffy got from half a year at sea, and sighed helplessly. Teaching depended on talent.
"Looks like I’ll be delayed for a while."
Rayleigh looked at the sea and sighed. He had originally thought he could find Luffy here. Now it seemed he would need to stay busy for a while. To put it simply, finding one person on this sea was still a little troublesome.
After all, he did not have a powerful intelligence network. He was only one man.
After this little interlude with Rayleigh, Jovian abandoned his subordinates and went to launch a nighttime raid on Hancock.
"So what should we do?"
Jovian’s subordinates looked at the island full of women before them and felt somewhat bashful. They did not dare get off the ship. After all, they were upright Marines and could not do anything worse than beasts. Although, looking at all these beauties, not doing anything worse than beasts was actually the difficult part.
The Holy Land Mary Geoise.
On the throne said to have remained empty for eight hundred years, the throne symbolizing the King of the World, the Empty Throne, a beautiful woman sat there, reading the letter in her hand.
Below her throne were five old men kneeling on the ground.
If anyone else were present, they would definitely be shocked, because the five men kneeling beneath that beautiful woman were none other than the Five Elders, known as the leaders of the World Government, the five most powerful people in the entire world.
At this moment, those five were actually kneeling beneath the woman’s throne like servants, waiting for her to speak.
The woman sitting high on the throne was none other than the King of the World, Lord Imu, who had returned to the Holy Land Mary Geoise after Jovian secretly ran away.
"To my dear wife. By the time you see this letter, your husband will already have left. Looking at your sleeping face, your husband truly could not bear to disturb you. But as a Marine Admiral, the mission upon your husband’s shoulders is calling to me. Justice is calling to me. Your husband’s ambition is to expand your territory for you and sweep away all obstacles..."
The woman softly read the letter in her hand. She sneered disdainfully, then clenched it hard and completely crushed the letter.
"Where is that man now?"
Imu opened her blood-red eyes, stared closely at the five people below her, and asked.
"Uh..."
"The current Marine Admiral, Jovian, is now..."
The Five Elders looked somewhat hesitant, as though afraid that saying the wrong thing would anger the woman high above them.
"Speak freely."
Imu seemed to have guessed something and spoke coldly.
"Uh..."
"The current Marine Admiral, Jovian, is now with the Kuja Pirates on the women’s island, the Kingdom of Amazon Lily. In other words, with Boa Hancock."
Only after receiving Imu’s permission did the Five Elders fully reveal Jovian’s whereabouts.
"Hehe..."
"So this is what he calls expanding my territory?"
"The territory you speak of is all forests and abysses, isn’t it?"
Imu’s eyes carried a hint of disdain, but if one looked carefully, they would see anger within them as well.
"Looks like something else is about to be extinguished."
The Five Elders saw the word fear in one another’s eyes.
One month passed.
During this month, everything was peaceful.
It seemed as if nothing major had happened, but this peace was more like the calm before the storm.
"My path cannot stop here."
Jovian stood outside the palace and looked at the sunlight beyond. Although this was his future home, it was not where he should stop right now. He still had many places to go and many things to do.
"Jovian, where are you going?"
Hancock looked at Jovian’s back and asked.
"I am going to wage war against evil!"
"Hancock, wait for me to return!"
Jovian looked at Hancock with a deep gaze. Although Hancock had secretly ordered someone to steal his clothes, he would not stop.
Jovian wrapped himself in the bedsheet from the bed.
He was going to keep moving forward.
"Jovian..."
Hancock looked at Jovian’s back and found it dazzling beyond words. She gently covered her flushed face.
"You really are a man like the wind."
Ever since Hancock learned that Jovian had caused chaos in the Holy Land Mary Geoise and accepted the mark on her body, she had become even more obsessed with him.
"Admiral Jovian! Where are we going next?"
The Marines looked at Jovian, who was wrapped in a white bedsheet and standing on the deck with everything hanging free in the wind. Every one of them felt mentally exhausted. The man before them was truly far too unconventional.
"Where else?"
"The New World, of course!"
Jovian smiled faintly and gave the order to the Marines behind him.
"Yes, sir! We will immediately apply to the Red Line for passage through the Marines’ special route to the New World!"
After receiving Jovian’s order, the Marines immediately responded.
"No."
"We are not entering the New World through the World Government and Marine special route!"
"Real men never go to places like that."
"Real men go to Fish-Man Island and do what real men should do with mermaids!"
Hearing that, Jovian’s face darkened. He raised a hand and stopped that Marine who was failing to understand what mattered.
"What..."
"We’re going to Fish-Man Island?"
The Marines had not expected Jovian to actually plan to go to Fish-Man Island.
"I heard there are a lot of beautiful merfolk there..."
"Cough, cough..."
"I mean, I heard there are many damned pirates there!"
"All right, enough nonsense. Set sail!"
Jovian spoke with a perfectly serious expression.
"I heard the mermaid princess is an unparalleled beauty, but supposedly she’s too big. No human could handle that. Hahaha..."
One Marine seemed to think of something and joked.
"Are you kidding? Who do you think I am?"
"A little difference in size is no problem at all!"
"Uh..."
"I mean, I love challenging the impossible!"
Jovian was a real man.
A real man had to do...
What a real man should do.
