Rolling side to side in my crib in an attempt to comfort my rapidly devolving thoughts, I felt helpless for the first time in a long time.

’There has to be a way for me to get enough cash to use my Circulation skill repeatedly…but how…Uncle Gideon…no, the stock profile idea is irrelevant right now; I need a few more years until I can capitalize on that front…Aunt Penelope isn’t a viable option either since the Rink doesn’t draw in that much money.’

For the rest of the night, I was restless until, eventually, I passed out from mental and physical exhaustion. As much as I’d like to say I was unhindered by the amount of effort that goes into using a Circulation Technique, I can’t because, unlike my Mythical "GitGud" Skill, the Hidden Vestiges of Physicality was unlike anything I had ever experienced.

Slowly closing my eyes and drifting off into the comforting embrace of slumber, my final thoughts were of how to make money fast…

And then…time moved on.

---

Not a whole lot changed in my daily routine: my days quickly fell into a standard pattern of waking up, eating mush for breakfast, watching over baby Brenden so he didn’t injure himself, passing the time in my playpen, and the occasional groping of my "babysitters," more mush for lunch, nap time, more self-reflection in the now despised playpen, and finally dinnertime.

My only reprieve from the monotony of my day-to-day actions was the several hours a night I was left to my own devices under the disguise of bedtime.

Once I heard my father and Amanda go to bed, it was time for training. Starting off with basic exercises, I would go through the motions of strengthing my body, even if there were virtually zero results, but that was to be expected.

I was only able to use my meager body weight to work out. Without the use of heavy equipment or a gym, the number of things I could do was slim, but that didn’t mean I wouldn’t at least try.

From there, I would move on to my combat training, which involved wielding my dagger to the best of my abilities so that I could adapt to my much shorter limbs and new physique.

And so was my routine, with the exception of every two weeks, I would use my Circulation skill. With limited funds, it wasn’t like I could use it every night, so I settled on only running through the skill in irregular intervals to save the rapidly dwindling funds in my wallet.

And like that, I spent the next two years.

October 27th 1995…

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DEAR BRENDAN, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TOOO YOU!!"

KAZOOOO

The sounds of plastic horns overtook the annoyingly loud and obnoxious singing of my family and Amanda, only to come in second place to Brenden smashing his face into the personal-sized cake, making a massive mess and sending chunks of the sugary treat in every direction.

Seeing this, everyone, myself included, laughed at the joyful youngster as he devoured the cake.

’Two years…and no sign of him returning,’ using a plastic spoon, I dug into my slice of cake, which, of course, came from a different one meant for the family, while examining my little brother for any signs of cognitive thought.

Unfortunately, after being awake for over 24 hours waiting for any changes in Brenden, all I had were dashed hopes as he was still the dumb baby he had been for the last two years.

Not a whole lot had transpired in the time since the assassination attempt at the hospital, well, apart from putting a stop to one of the biggest events to occur in my childhood.

That’s right, with a whole lot of finesse, some coercion, and wasting a s**t ton of Particle Potions, I had halted the move to Key West in its infancy.

In doing so, I had ensured my father would be in a significantly better position come time for the divorce, which was still on schedule for 1999.

It also helped that Amanda was LIVID, at the fact she wouldn’t be able to live it up on the sandy beaches of the Florida Keys, but with a few coercive Talent nudges, she practically gave up on the idea altogether.

Then there were the extremely annoying undertones floating around our house day in and out, of which I was the DIRECT cause, and that’s the fact that Amanda was extremely sexually frustrated, hehe.

Since her babymaker was still active, I knew damn well I couldn’t allow my father near her, as it would mean having to potentially do some dark and otherwise frowned upon actions so that I didn’t end up with a new baby brother or sister.

Now, I know what you’re probably huffing and puffing about, you horny f**k’s, "Couldn’t they just pull a bag-n-bang," Hell no, ain’t no way I was risking letting that insane bitch have a tumble under the sheets.

I wouldn’t put it passed her to pull something like poking holes in the condom or taking drastic actions like drugging my father to f**k his brains out till she was pregnant again.

It was simply the easier option to put a halt to the whole shindig altogether.

"Say…*Sniffle* ahhh Taylor." Pulling me out of my brooding, the sweet voice of my favorite girl next door chimed from beside me, causing me to hide my frown and turn my head so I could be fed cake.

However, when my eyes met Deeana’s, I couldn’t help but resist the urge to click my tongue.

The event I had long since known about was happening as we spoke.

Riley was back…unannounced and with his new Japanese wife in tow.

As you’d expect, my favorite babysitter was devastated, and annoyingly, Riley couldn’t be bothered to explain himself; he even ignored Deeana as if she wasn’t there at all, something that made me seriously contemplate punishing my idiotic older brother.

’Hm…that’s not a bad idea actually, punishing Riley…but how should I go about it.’ I thought while saying AHHH and letting Deeana feed me a bite of her cake.

The young woman, now in her early 20s, absolutely adored me, and honestly, apart from her strained friendship with Amanda, I didn’t doubt I was the sole reason she even bothered sticking around.
