I could tell from the voices in the background that many of the officials didn’t agree with my plan; some people were yelling about how there was no proof of my claims, and others were saying it made no sense to pull back when we were so close to victory, but I knew the Commandant was like-minded with me.
He, like everyone else, had been watching the feed I was producing through the drones and had zero qualms with how I was handling the battle. Sure, he was probably a little peeved that I wasn’t utilizing the Military might apart from the initial stages of the skirmish. Still, as a war-hardened veteran, he could tell how useless weapons such as guns would end up being.
The Commandant was no fool; he could tell at a glance that none of the weapons we heroes used were simple, and then there was the force behind our talent skills.
In a sense, all of us were perfect war tools, as we could cause mass destruction with very little expense; however, as much as he could appreciate our abilities, he was probably extremely hesitant to allow us…no, ME in particular to have too much political power.
It was one thing that he allowed me to move the troops as I saw fit, but another was entirely to be left unchecked out in the world. I surmised a lot of that by reading through his thoughts when we first met.
Fear and shock were what he felt when he read through all the Squad’s reports, and now, after having visual proof of how powerful we were, he knew we were approaching a point of no return, where he could only either allow us to do as we pleased, or get on our bad sides.
(SILENCE! We will do as you advise, Major; I will begin issuing orders through the proper channels. It will take time to get all the artillery moved back, but your gate is still the problem. If the other four gates are causing the peak to expel Radiation, what will happen when you clear the Break occurring at the original gate?) Shouting at the peanut gallery behind him, The Commandant posed a solid question for which I had no real answer.
(The way I see it, there is only one possible outcome here, Commandant, and it’s the reason I want the main line pushed back 10 miles.) Weaving in and out of the nearby Undead, I bashed knees and chests like I was playing a video game; everywhere I went, bodies dropped.
After learning about the Homunculus fragments attached to the undead hearts, I began hitting them specifically; in that way, I could reactivate particle suppression on their bodies, and since the majority of my opponents were Death Knight-Grade, their power would plummet down from Beta to High-Alpha.
With my Eskrima being blunt weapons, I had coated the tips with small Geo-Spikes, allowing for penetration power and giving me the proper means to pierce the Undead’s chests to destroy the Fragment.
(All of us heroes, for the most part, are attuned to feeling this Radiation, so I am able to deduce the approximate range of the current Lower Peak. With each Instance Break clearing, the radius around the mountain is radiated at a rate of a quarter mile.)
Hearing this, the Commandant finished my statement.

(This means that the moment the fourth gate’s Break was cleared, a full mile radius around the Undead Tower became a symbolic no-man’s land filled with Radiation, but how do you figure that 10 miles should be safe?)
(I said a minimum of 10 miles, sir. My theory is that once the final Instance Break is cleared and the fifth gate is open for business, it will add a full mile and then quintuple the range of the Radiation emitted by the Lower Peak.)
(Think of the first four gates as a spillway, while the 5th is a dam; once the dam breaks, not only will new water surge into the spillway, but since it was already full, it will further breach the banks, and with the added force from the new water breaking through and overflowing the banks, it will create a new river.)
(10 Miles is the middle number in my mind; it could be less, could be more; either way, it’s all just a theory based on how I know the radiation moves.) Right as I was finishing up smiting another undead, two of which were setting up an ambush, exploded into chunks of bone and flesh, and Xilia stunningly burst onto the scene.
That wasn’t all either; the other squads began arriving in droves, sending all sorts of elemental attacks into the horde and battlefield.
(Air, set up a tailwind coming from the gate, and push the horde forward; Hydro soak the ground nearest to the bulk of the Undead so that Ice can come through and slick the ground.)
(Copy, tailwind going up)
(Let’s make it rain Hydro move)
(Ice position yourselves around the horde in such a manner as to coat the ground evenly; let’s turn this place into an ice rink!)
The three squad leaders in question steered their squads as per my orders, even HydoLift, who, after getting the shit kicked out of him earlier by my hand, was completely obedient now.
(Quake, use the wall and slope from the mountain to make a ramp facing us; try to make it as smooth as possible so that the Undead will slide down from the gate into the ice path after being caught by the tailwind.)
My eyes flicked around the battlefield as the other squads set to work executing my plan, which was to turn this place into a literal meat grinder. With only two squads left to give orders to and two still en route, things were coming together.
(We’re on it, Quake, split in half so we can form a perfectly even slide!)
(Vector, you guys are on support now; first, I want you to move Psyh to my current position, then go ahead and make sure everyone on the field is able to get where they need to go since all of you have some form of movement skill, I don’t want anyone getting caught in the line of friendly fire.)
’Now to check in on Fire and Zap,’ I thought while stomping the ground and getting a bird’s eye view of things once again.
