"100 to 150 feet in depth…five…no ten applications of Sonic-Pulse Fist may be able to open a hole…" Scooting closer to the Barrier until he was mere inches away, Sonas’s stance changed from a boxing stance to more of an MMA one, with his right leg back and torso twisted to the left and his left hand chambered near his ribcage.

"Sooooonic…"

Although invisible to the eye, I could sense a massive amount of particles running through Sonas’ body into his fist and coiling around his fingers.

"Pullllllssse,"

’Hold up…why is he charging it like a Kamehameha?’ The fleeting thought through the mental connection between Brenden and I caused my brother to facepalm and feel secondhand embarrassment.

’He does that…every…single…time, and don’t act like you wouldn’t, providing you had a similar skill, Taylor, because you’d be lying, and you know it.’

’Meh, I neither confirm nor deny.’ Truth was…I may have experimented with a few puppets that had similar force-generating skills…the experiment was to see who could best recreate anime techniques, but that’s a story for another time.

"FISTTT HAAAAA!!!"

SSSVVOOOOMMMM BOOOOOM

Punching out with such speed that it created a sonic boom, Sonas’ fist stopped half an inch from the Barrier, but the attack didn’t.

Tearing through the air was an invisible ball of energy that impacted the Inscription barrier, sending ripples in every direction as it concaved in on itself in the shape of a 20-foot diameter cone, the point of which extended deep into the Barrier a solid 30 feet.

"Recalibrating, Charging, AGAIN!" Sonas shouted while rechambering his fist and taking three steps into the cone of open space he had made in the wall of light.

"Sonnnic Pullllse FISTTTT HAAAA!,"

This time, unfortunately, the cone only burrowed half as deep into the Barrier as the first, but that didn’t stop Sonas from keeping at it.

"Sonnnic Pullllse FISTTTT HAAAA!,"

Observing the third impact, I frowned because this time, its effect had depreciated by half again, 30 feet, 15 feet, and now seven and a half feet; fortunately, although the depth of the cone point may only be slogging forward slightly, the diameter of the ring Sonas had created didn’t diminish by much, albeit slightly thanks to the instant restoration properties of the Runic Inscription.

"Sonnnic Pullllse FISTTTT HAAAA!,"

As expected, the fourth attack’s distance dropped by half again this time, extending the cone by less than 4 feet.

"Sonnnic Pullllse FISTTTT HAAAA!,"

However, it was the 5th attack that yielded a satisfactory result, as there was no more depreciation, and instead, the distance into the wall of light stayed static at 3.75 feet.

"60 Feet. That should be the approximate halfway point…but Sonas over there looks exhausted after unleashing five back-to-back Skills like that." Walking up beside me, Piniki voiced her observation, causing me to raise an eyebrow and look over at her.

"Are you asking if the diminishing return from his attacks is due to exhaustion or the inscription’s strength?"

"I guess both?" She replied while blinking a few times and looking back at Sonas as he chugged from the two-liter of Particle water and started his next attack.

"Sonnnic Pullllse FISTTTT HAAAA!,"

"His power output was exactly the same with each Skill usage, and there was no drop-off; it’s slightly impressive that his endurance is so high, but the problem is the deeper he gets into the Inscription barrier, the denser the particles are clustered; thus, he isn’t able to punch through more." Motioning for Brenden to join us, I crossed my arms and entered the Barrier at a slow pace so as to leave ample time for Brenden and me to escape in the event the Barrier suddenly expedited its recovery.

"Sonnnic Pullllse FISTTTT HAAAA!,"

"The last two attacks were able to punch through 3.75 feet; it seems that will be the crawl we have to deal with until he reaches that halfway point. After that, it should only be a couple more…"

"Sonnnic Pullllse FISTTTT HAAAA!,"

My eyes narrowed slightly as I watched the next attack expand the Barrier, and as I was just saying, instead of 3.75 feet, we were back at 7.5 again.

"Sonnnic Pullllse FISTTTT HAAAA!,"

15 Feet

"Sonnnic Pullllse FISTTTT HAAAA!,"

30 FEET!

"GUYS I SEE THE OTHER SIDE!" Sonas shouted in excitement, but right as he finished saying that, his eyes clouded over, and he began falling forward.

Luckily, Brenden was right there to catch the smiling fool before he passed out and landed face-first on the ground.

"You did good, Sonas; get some rest; we got it from here," Brenden said as he hoisted his friend onto his shoulder and walked out of the Barrier, but right as his foot landed on the side of freedom, he stopped, and a new voice spoke up.

"Yes, Sonnasitc, you did a fantastic job at breaching my barrier and setting us back a few minutes; a shame it was all for nothing, as all you did was delay the inevitable."

"It seems we are being graced by the presence of Vesaragon’s Leader Marek and A-Class healer Piniki, hm…I don’t recognize you…stranger. Who might you be?" The voice was familiar, very, very familiar, to everyone present, and if Sonas had been conscious, he would have probably been the first to lash out and attack the owner of said voice.

"You know, making an appearance like this with…*Whistles* over 200 walking corpses, that’s quite an impression considering you’re supposed to be dead, isn’t that right, Draven Faircloth." Uncrossing my arms, stepping out of the Barrier, and joining my brother, I glanced to the sky, where a young man, no older than 18 or 19, was floating in the air.

He had long lavender hair that cascaded down his shoulders, ending about mid-arm, and was dawned in combat gear black as night with gold accents and made of some strange alloy I couldn’t place. Still, the one thing I did notice was the immense particle fluctuations radiating off his body, indicating he was at the peak of Beta-Rank. Not only that, but he was also...

"Now, THAT is surprising, and here I was, believing myself to be the only person to break through the Racial restrictions and reach A Level Six Racial Classification." Wearing a charming smile, Draven brought his hand to his chin and examined, in particular, me and my brother.

The bastard had done what Brenden, my father, and I had; Draven was an evolved, someone who had Reached 6C…but there was something off, something different, something that caused me to smirk because while he may be 6C, he wasn’t like us.
