Uncaring about how late Renni had been up trying to fulfill my order, I slid off the bed, careful not to make any sudden movement or noise as it would ruin what I had in store for the young lady.

New novel 𝓬hapters are published on ƒreewebɳovel.com.

Wearing a small smirk, I eased my fingers under the edge of the mattress, and with a sudden and extreme movement, I flung the mattress upward, off the boxspring, and into the air.

"EEP!" and received the desired effect because all I saw was a flash of pink nightgown before hearing a loud thump as Renni crashed onto the floor.

"Bold of you to assume I’d allow you to sleep beside me, but I will say, I am pretty impressed that you had both the gall and ability to sneak in unheard or sensed and sleep in the same bed without me noticing," I stated in an annoyed tone as I replaced the mattress to its former position.

"Owww, was it really necessary to be so heavy-handed? What would you have done if I broke my neck on the fall?" Rubbing her shoulder, which she had landed on, and bouncing up to her feet, Renni shot me a wounded glare.

"Do you really want me to answer that? Never forget that you are but a disposable and temporarily useless pawn to me, Xilia; I can replace you at any time if I so choose." Rolling my eyes, I set about carefully making the bed.

Call it OCD, or call it being neurotic, but I had never left a bed unmade and was compelled to make it every time I woke up.

"Again, with that name, Xilia…I get having an alias and all, but why name me a feminine version of yours?" Reaching up, Renni undid the messy bun she had made with her hair before bed and took out a comb to start untangling it so she would be presentable.

"All my underlings get nicknames; I can’t exactly go around calling you by your real name if I plan on having you work anonymously, but don’t think too deeply on the matter; you aren’t the first to carry the title Xilia, in fact, there have been four others, all of which who had messy deaths because they became complacent."

Smoothing out the last few wrinkles in the comforter, I adjusted the pillows accordingly before moving to the other side of the room and grabbing the multiple throw pillows, which could be arranged on the bed in a fancy manner.

My words, although spoken casually, served as a warning for Renni but also was a way for me to play off the fact that I had chosen a name at random from the list I had come up with…. I may have used a random name generator in the Origin Timeline, but I swear it’s only because I couldn’t come up with anything cool-sounding for my minions and slaves.

And it DEFINITELY wasn’t because I had a habit of naming every female slave that showed potential Xilia just in case she became a valuable asset….fuck you, ok, I do what I want.

When I finished making the bed and setting the pillows up in a reverse flat pyramid, I turned and looked at Renni…right as she had stripped down and was about to change into a fresh set of functional clothing.

Feeling my gaze, Renni froze in place like a scared rabbit, making the situation even more awkward, as it wasn’t like she had her future body yet.

I, on the other hand, couldn’t care less about how she looked, and to me, she was only a child, so there was ZERO attraction at all; so after shaking my head, I turned my back on her and went toward what used to be her father’s closet.

Sliding open the double doors, I stepped into the large and fancy walk-in closet and quickly noticed it was practically filled to the brim with different suits and expensive clothing, none of which would fit me or even my father, as Howard was a portly fellow with a round belly. I am sure in his prime, the man was in decent shape, as was apparent from his flabby, formerly muscular arms, but as it stands now unless my father put on about 70 points and shrunk half a foot, I doubt he would fit into anything here.

But the clothing wasn’t my goal for coming into the closet; no, instead, it was a certain fireproof box tucked away in the corner of the room-sized closet.

"So, how about you start explaining to me how you did it, along with giving me a rundown of your Talent Xilia? I could always scan your mind, but that takes effort, so I’d rather you give me the details instead."

Sliding apart a bunch of hung-up suits, I revealed the four-foot-tall safe to my eyes and knocked on it a couple of times, each one exerting more force until I saw a noticeable-sized dent form under my knuckles.

In this way, I knew how much strength I’d need to use to break into it, not that it mattered since I had the code from Howard’s mind, but it was a fleeting curiosity; think of it as me testing my strength against standard non-particle materials.

"My Talent….is a bit special…." From behind me, I heard the rustling of clothing as Renni changed quickly.

Meanwhile, I had already entered the ten-digit PIN into the digital buttonpad. I unlocked the safe, revealing multiple bars of precious metals, gems, and two very important tools that I wanted to get my hands on.

’Leave it to the former British soldier to have something handy lying around, heh,’ with a swipe of my hand, I took the contents of the safe into my inventory, leaving only two holstered firearms.

’SIG Sauer P226 pistols. Standard issue handguns for the British Army until 2013 when they adopted the Glock 17. It’s a decent little gun, and there’s two of them; all I need to do is make a suppressor, and I can save myself the trouble of wasting particles.’

Storing both of them in my inventory, I spun around and gave Renni an interested look.

"Special in what way?"
