With a loud noise that comes along with metal joints not being properly lubricated, the ornate steel gate swung open, revealing a long and winding cobblestone driveway that traversed up the hill from the street to the large mansion.

But I was uninterested in the gate; my eyes instead locked in on the two Aston Martin Luxury Sports cars and the Lambo in the driveway.

’They have big boy money, and it looks like there are a few younger people here; I don’t foresee older folks necessarily owning a Lambo….no, they’d go after a Rarri instead, especially after those shows in the 70s made them popular with the older crowd.’ As the town car came to a stop, I noticed a young man in his early twenties with brown hair, green eyes, and the attire one would expect from a typical posh rich kid.

Collared shirt, khaki shorts, everything he wore was designer brands, and the expensive Rolex watch on his wrist told me everything I’d need to know about the kid who no doubt was bound to be a bratty son of a bitch.

As he stood there, the young man continuously tapped his right foot in agitation and repeatedly checked his watch multiple times in less than a minute, a sign that he was in a hurry to get back to something, and that made me smirk.

’This should be relatively easy; people like him are low-intelligent and highly arrogant, and easy work is easy work.’ Thinking on my toes, I pulled out a small brown box, just like any other you’d expect to receive as a delivery, and opened my door.

As expected, when I began walking up the driveway toward the young man, he huffed arrogantly.

"What the fuck….why would they send a kid to deliver a package? I don’t know what’s in the box, but it’s probably expensive kid; if you dare drop it, I swear I’ll have your parents fired and left homeless by the end of the week." The young man growled at me from atop the doorstep.

’Yep, he’s a moron, hah,’ rolling my eyes, I glanced up at him and wasted no time activating my Talent, easily taking control of him with my Coersion skill.

It took me all of a second to scan through his memories and learn everything about him, his family, and what they did for a living. As it turns out, they were fairly well-known, or at least they would be in the future.

The Harrington family was a lineage wrought with controversy and scandals, of which multiple would occur in the late 2000s. When the Metoo Movement began gaining traction online, the names of most of the men would come to light as a bunch of scumbags that liked throwing around their weight and money to cover up the deeds of the younger generations.

But even then, they were high up enough on the food chain that getting canceled online wasn’t nearly enough to wipe them off the face of the planet; no, they had the best lawyers on retainer and were able to navigate the courts to such a point they got off basically scot-free, only having to pay some fines and do community service.

It wasn’t until after the Descent of Arkadia that this family would get what they deserved, as a couple of the women they had abused ended up getting powerful talents and subsequently began a crusade to destroy them.

In the end, only the youngest daughter of the family was spared and eventually taken into one of the largest female guilds because, unlike the other members of her family, she ended up being the only "Normal" one of the bad batch of siblings, and had a decent Talent to boot.

Regardless, none of that meant jack shit to me, as my goal was to take over their mansion and lay the groundwork for this to be my fake family’s roots.

’Go inside and call your family together; explain to them that you got a lucrative business deal and wish to discuss how to move forward with it.’ As I sent over the mental transmission, I scanned as much of the house as I could with my perception, looking for one person in particular.

My target was the youngest daughter; as to my knowledge, she had survived the invasion, and there was a strong possibility that she could have returned to the past.

Money wasn’t a distractor for her in the Origin Timeline, as she had risen through her guild ranks and became one of the Vice Captains. Still, seeing as I had never met her face to face, I only had rumors and what I had read about her online to go off of in terms of her personality.

Yet, as I am living proof that you can’t trust a book by its cover, I knew to take what I understood about her with a grain of salt.

’She and I were the same age, of that much I am certain, but the question is whether she has returned already and is living her new life in the same way I am or if she still hasn’t come back like my brother.’

’If that’s the case, I have two options here: I can either kill her now or play the wait-and-see game. Plus….I heard plenty of rumors in the crime world about how she was secretly a double agent who would leak info to the Underworld guilds, so she may end up being useful to me.’

’Renni Harrington, full name Henrietta Harriot Harrington, fuck that’s right, heh, all of them have dumb ass triple H names haha,’ covering my mouth with both hands, I had to stifle my laughter as I remembered how memeable the Harrington family was while following Henry….Harold… Harrington into the house.

’How the fuck am I gonna keep it together? Haha, oh man, it’s too funny.’ Wiping the single tear from my eye, I separated from Harry’s shadow and moved out of sight before putting on my mask and pulling up my hood.

’Regardless…heh….hehe…this should be rather interesting.’
