Chapter 51: Chapter 51: Footprint (2)

"Hey everyone, let's continue heading South today. Is that okay?" Lucifer said while the group was eating breakfast together.

Everyone looked at Lucifer but no one had any objections to heading South. Therefore, they all continued heading South like yesterday after finishing breakfast.

It seemed like they had no intention of asking Lucifer for his reason either.

After resting, the group cleaned up the cave, put the important items in the Cube, and set off.

Unlike the first and second days, today they didn't encounter many candidates or monsters in the forest.

Usually, contestants would only stay on the island for 2 days at most because a large number of monsters would be exterminated during the first and the second days. And since most of the students were rich, they couldn't live in a place like this unlike Sierra.

So they usually gave up after 2 or 3 days. That was why the 1 month exam period was actually just to give the students a longer break. To put it bluntly, it was completely unnecessary.

'I guess we should give up soon.'

Lucifer's intention was to hunt as many monsters as possible, but if all the monsters were defeated, he would have no reason to stay on this island.

But the lack of monsters and examinees could also be considered a good thing because their journey would be much less arduous. The proof was that they didn't encounter any monsters on their way South.

"It's really peaceful." Adam commented.

"Yeah, but we shouldn't let our guard down." Chaewon said.

"Of course!" Adam gripped his cheap sword.

They were getting closer and closer to the location of the giant shadow that Lucifer had seen last night. Of course, since all the members were unaware of the existence of that shadow, they were shocked to see those two huge footprints again.

"Impossible..." Hikaru said as he looked at the two footprints.

"Why are there two more footprints here? Who would make such a joke?" Adam said.

By now, Lucifer was even more certain that the shadow he had seen last night belonged to a monster. But what puzzled him was how the monster could disappear without leaving a trace.

'This is so confusing...'

While Lucifer was still thinking, his group members hurriedly took pictures of the footprints and sent them to the teacher, but an unexpected event had occurred.

No matter how long they waited, the message still hadn't been sent. It seemed like they had lost signal.

"Why can't I send the message?" Lucian frowned as he glared at the message that had not been sent yet.

Based on the appearance of the monster that Lucifer saw last night, it was very likely that this monster was at the Superb level or higher. If the monster was at the Superb or Giga level, then Lucifer's group might still be able to handle it.

But if the monster was at an even higher level, then even Lucifer couldn't be sure whether Adam and his teammates could fight it or not.

Whatever it was, this island had definitely become extremely dangerous because of the appearance of that monster.

It was very likely that many other contestants were in danger because they definitely wouldn't be qualified enough to defeat a monster at the Superb level or higher.

'Damn it!'

"Wait, everyone, there's something on the footprints!" Suddenly Hikaru shouted.

All the members, including Lucifer, turned their eyes to where Hikaru pointed. Just as Hikaru had pointed out, there was a large pool of dried blood on the footprint. Perhaps the monster had trampled something or someone to death.

Thinking of this, everyone shuddered. The forest suddenly became eerily silent. Adam and Hikaru held their swords tightly, Lucian held his spear hardly, Chaewon held her staff tightly, Sierra was ready to use her Ability at any time, and Lucifer held his short sword tightly.

Everyone stood close together and was on high alert.

Suddenly, something caught Lucifer's eyes. Near the giant footprint, Lucifer saw a bit of dried blood.

'What is this?'

This blood stain was outside the giant footprint, proving that someone or something had not been trampled by the monster. Also, the blood stain was quite small, not like someone or something had been trampled.

It was as if someone or something had been attacked.

Suddenly, the bushes near them shook. All the members turned towards the bushes and raised their weapons.

From within the bushes, Clide and his four friends slowly walked out.

Seeing Clide, Hikaru's expression suddenly stiffened. It seemed like he was still very scared every time he saw Clide. Meanwhile, Lucifer just glared at him.

"Who are you?" Adam asked, he had no idea who Clide was because Adam had never met him before.

Clide smiled calmly and answered Adam's question:

"I'm Clide, we set up camp nearby last night, but we never expected to meet you guys here."

A very naive answer. It seemed that Clide did not want to reveal his true nature in front of so many people, or perhaps he was just afraid of Sierra.

"But what is going on here? Why are there two giant footprints over there?" Clide continued.

"I don't know either. We just saw these two footprints. But yesterday we also saw two identical ones."

While they were talking, a strong wind suddenly blew by. It was so strong that it made their clothes flutter. The whole group turned towards the wind.

But it was not a wind. In front of them, in the forest, was a giant monster with a huge, hairy body and long arms with sharp, dirty claws. The monster radiated death in the peaceful forest.

The wind was not from nature, it was actually the breath of that monster. It was lying in the forest and observing them closely.

Realizing that it had been discovered, the monster let out a petrifying smile and slowly stood up. Its height was exactly the same as the shadow that Lucifer saw last night.

Everyone stood silently looking at the monster without doing anything. They were too terrified to take action. All of them had expressions of fear on their faces.

While everyone was looking at the monster, Lucifer was focusing on Clide. Unlike the others, Clide let out a smile when he saw the monster.
