Chapter 217: Aria Escapes
Adrian desperately looked behind him for the first time, and there he saw Ilynda and Vaelin.
And almost at the same exact time, the female high elf, Ilyndra, suddenly dashed forward.
Adrian could actually see what was going on this time. He could tell that she did not use a Gust spell or any wind magic at all. But her base physical speed was easily matching his wind magic, and maybe even faster.
And before he could even throw his arms up to block, her fist buried itself deep in his gut.
All the air left his lungs.
He just folded over. It wasn’t even the actual force of the punch that pushed him. His stomach muscles just seized up from the impact.
Adrian gagged. A thick string of bloody saliva dripped from his lips and hit the dirt.
He was stuck. The portal was right there, but he knew he wasn’t getting inside.
And these two freaks were literally just going to use him as a human punching bag. He knew right then and there that he absolutely did not stand a chance against them in a fight.
So he just screamed at himself in his mind.
’Think! Think of a way to get out of this place somehow.’
But it didn’t happen.
He was unable to get any good ideas because the pain was so incredibly intense that he was just unable to think about anything properly.
And then, to his absolute dismay and horror, Aria came walking right out of the open portal.
He immediately regretted leaving it open.
And what she did next completely surprised him. Instead of staying there and helping him or trying to fight the two high elves, she just looked at him. He fully expected her to fight because she was a kid. She had already proven to be a bit hot-blooded and impatient, especially since she came all the way into the forest just to fight earlier. So he had very low expectations of her self-control right now. He genuinely expected her to throw a fireball.
But to his surprise, she just flew away.
She just gave him a single glance. Their eyes locked for a split second, and she saw the pure panic on his face. Aria knew right away that he wasn’t scared for himself. He was terrified for her.
So she didn’t hesitate. She just turned around and bolted straight into the sky.
Vaelin just scoffed.
"Just let that kid go." Vaelin sneered as he turned to look at Adrian instead. "This bitch... this useless creature even dared to harm us with his useless tricks. We need to show him his place first."
And just as the male high elf said that, Ilyndra slapped Adrian really, really hard across the face.
Adrian’s head snapped to the side and he felt his head spin. He also tasted his own blood after a moment, so he just spat his bloody saliva right onto her face.
"You guys are literal trash." Adrian mocked her, forcing a smirk. "Humans are way better than you. I am just a third circle mage, and I still managed to fuck you up. Go use your little healing magic to get back to your top condition. Isn’t that what you did? You even had to ambush me like dirty little skanks."
Seeing this arrogant reaction, Vaelin actually let go of Adrian’s ankle with his vines.
But before Adrian could even do anything or try to move away, Vaelin just jumped in and kicked Adrian right in his shin.
The bone snapped with a sickening crunch.
And Adrian didn’t even have time to curse before his knees gave out. He collapsed into the ground, and grabbed his leg.
His shin was bent at a totally unnatural angle. He could see that his leg was completely broken. Halfway through his shin, he could see a bone just showing itself through his torn pants.
And it hurt really, really bad.
But weirdly enough, it did not hurt as much as he expected it to.
’Right... fucking pain tolerance. I wonder how high it’s rank is right now.’ he thought, but focused again.
He looked up at the two of them. They were looking down at him like they had won the fight.
But Adrian just smirked again.
"What, is this all you got?" Adrian asked.
He knew that this was not really the right thing to do if he wanted to actually survive this. But he just could not stop himself from mocking the two of them. Because he knew for a fact that his dungeon monsters were coming back right now. So he just needed to wait for a while and stall them.
And the worst thing he could do right now, was to change how he talked to them. He already spit on one of them and if he tried to beg them to spare him all of a sudden and actually tried to buy time the traditional way, it’d only get him fucked instead.
Seeing Adrian still acting incredibly confident and acting like he owned the place, Ilyndra got annoyed.
She just put her foot right on his other leg and stepped directly onto his knee.
And then she stomped on it really, really hard.
She literally crushed his kneecap and broke his ligaments and tendons.
Adrian screamed loudly. He gritted his teeth and started punching the dirt, desperately trying to distract his brain from the agony. He felt every piece of shattered bone. Because even with the system’s pain tolerance skill, having his knee crushed still hurt like shit.
He stopped hitting the ground and glared up at them.
"You guys just love picking on the weak don’t you?" Adrian spat. "You’re terrified of fighting someone your own size. Why don’t you go pick on a real threat? I’m like a third circle mage and you’re a sixth circle. Have some damn shame, you fucks!"
And those two just laughed at him.
"That’s what every weakling says." Vaelin replied coldly. "But it’s not going to work on us. We are prideful, yes, but we’re not dumb to fall for these tricks. I know you want to die quickly and I promise you that you will die today."
Ilyndra smirked "But we will make sure that you suffer before you leave this world."
