Chapter 294: Message [3]

I didn’t really care for what Sophie thought and felt about coming to the academy.

For me, as long as she obeyed my commands, it didn’t really matter what she wanted to do after getting admitted to Namda.

"Give me a paper."

"Huh? Y-YES."

On my words, the manager quickly got off from his seat before retrieving a paper from the nearby desk and handing it to me, along with a pen that felt premium just by its look.

The pen was coated in a metal finish, with its tip being triangular-shaped instead of the usual tips that the pens in this world generally had.

Taking the pen in my hand, I sorted out the words in my mind before writing the necessary reply to Arthur.

The manager sat patiently without interrupting me, as I wrote all the necessary things in the letter before folding it and placing the paper on the table before me.

"Send it to your higher-ups, they will pass the letter to the required person."

My order was met with a quick nod by the manager, as he picked up the envelope that had Arthur’s letter in it... before placing my letter in the same place.

Arthur’s letter, on the other hand, had already been burnt by me, leaving no traces of what was written on the paper.

Though the message wasn’t confidential, it was better to be safe than sorry.

Arthur had also mentioned that with Alfred’s help they had been able to remove all traces of his bloodline from Sophie’s blood and had also altered the girl’s mana signature so that no one would be able to link her to Arthur Dimitri.

Altered might have been an exaggerated word, as Arthur had simply hidden Sophie’s real mana signature with a device that had been made by Alfred.

When we had discussed Sophie’s admission to the academy for the first time, we had covered all the ways in which we could hide her identity from the eyes of Immortals and Sovereigns that always had their eyes on the academy.

The headmaster himself was the biggest obstacle in our plans, as he would be the first one to talk with Sophie before confirming her admission to the academy.

Though he was now my guardian, that didn’t mean that the headmaster was our ally.

If he got to know about Sophie’s relation with Arthur, then things could take the worst turn for us.

That was why at first we had decided to use a face mask to change the appearance of Sophie’s face and her hair, so that no one would be able to link her red hair to that of Arthur.

But Arthur had rejected the suggestion.

According to him, no one knew about Sophie’s appearance and that having red hair was a common thing in the world.

That was true to a large extent, as both Amelia and Elsa had red hair.

Even the people who had come to treat Sophie had no idea about her appearance, as Arthur had always taken sufficient precautions to keep his daughter’s identity hidden from the world.

And if an Immortal like Arthur was determined to do something, then there were only a few people in the world who could stop him.

After discussing for more than a day, Alfred had come up with a solution to hide the traces of Arthur’s bloodline in Sophie’s body as well as her mana signature, which, though not similar, still had hints of Arthur’s own mana signature in it.

Though going by the facts, analysing someone’s bloodline just by looking at them was an impossible thing to do, at least for most of the Immortals.

The elites among the Immortals like Arthur could indeed scan a person’s entire bloodline just by looking at them.

The same was the case for the mana signature of a person.

In this world, every person had their own unique mana signature, but differentiating two mana signatures was still a difficult thing to achieve, as that needed one to have a tremendous amount of control over the mana in nature.

Such control was only possible when one was an Immortal on the level of Arthur, who was able to influence nature just like how Sovereigns could do.

After all... for becoming a Sovereign one had to become an Anchor for nature to exist upon.

Arthur had achieved this state even without becoming a Sovereign, which was the main reason behind every major powerhouse trying to recruit him into their own faction.

Haa...

The measures taken to hide Sophie’s identity were something that would only be required while facing Immortals on the same level as Arthur Dimitri or the Sovereigns themselves.

Leaving aside such elites of the world, no one would be able to learn about Sophie’s real identity even if she were to remove the device that was hiding her mana signature.

And this was one of the main reasons behind using the device to hide the mana signature and not her facial features... because even if the device somehow malfunctioned in the future, then no one would be able to notice the change except the elites in the Immortal rank or the Sovereigns.

And neither of them had the time to study a mere girl at the academy.

But on the other hand, if we had used a device to hide Sophie’s appearance, then in case of a malfunction, the girl’s real appearance would have appeared before everyone’s eyes.

Now even though no one knew about who Sophie was, if one saw a person’s facial structure and the colour of their hair changing right before their eyes... then it was obvious that Sophie would be questioned right then and there.

In the end, it was good enough that Alfred had been able to create the device within a limited amount of time.

I had to commend him for being able to create everything from scratch with no help whatsoever.

To make time for each of his creations despite being surrounded by numerous projects from all sides... Alfred was indeed a genius in his field.
