Chapter 125: A Peaceful Farewell

A week had passed since Ava purchased the luxury mansion. Since the property was located far outside the main city area, there was no worry about facing any daily city commotion or dealing with anyone’s sudden disturbances here.

During this period of time, Ava transferred the massive amount of gold coins required for buying the mansion, as she hadn’t paid the full amount at the exact time of transferring the ownership.

The primary reason behind that delay was because Ava only had ’Platinum’ coins stored with her. Since Platinum coins held a much higher monetary value than standard Gold coins, they were mainly used for massive international transactions since centuries ago.

A single Platinum coin is equal to 1,000 Gold coins, and she had several millions of such Platinum coins sitting in her arsenal. Even if Alen hadn’t bargained so ruthlessly with Mr. Howard that day, Ava could have easily bought the mansion at full price. Not only this, she could have even bought the whole outside district of the city if she truly wanted to.

As such, she had to go to the international authorized bank to properly exchange her Platinum coins into Gold.

She had gone to the bank once, right after the day she appeared in the real world. It was the exact same day when both Alen and L faced the sudden ambush attack by Kalos; that was the specific errand she had gone to take care of.

But since such a massive transaction cannot be processed all at once, it required a few days of processing time before she was able to exchange the funds.

That was also the reason the presence of Kalos benefited her. Since Kalos was in close contact with the property owner, there wasn’t any rush or hurry for getting the money immediately. Howard trusted Kalos, not just as a famous hero, but as a businessman who had earned undeniable trust in the market.

Trust in business is a necessary requirement. One cannot maintain long-term relations with those who are untrustworthy. If a party betrays someone, they might get the money in the short term, but along with it, they will also lose the trust of everyone else in the industry. They will eventually lose their wealthy investors, and their business will fail at some point down the line.

That is why maintaining trust and loyalty in business was the primary trait a successful businessman should always possess.

...

The atmosphere at the mansion was relatively peaceful. Alen spent most of his time resting and training. Well, it could be said it was mostly training, as he spent ninety percent of his waking hours practicing rather than resting. He had practically become a training junkie in that short period of time.

His daily schedule was simple and repetitive. Waking up in the early morning, eating a quick breakfast, and training. Then returning inside, washing up, having lunch, and training again until the evening sun fell. Then returning to have a warm dinner, and going right back to training until late into the night.

He quickly got used to this busy schedule, as he no longer felt disappointed by his previous unawareness of how to use his weapon. L also taught him how to use the other weapons he knew of, like the spear and the bow, as well as basic swordsmanship.

L didn’t teach him a lot of advanced moves, just the core basics, but that was more than enough for Alen. With a solid foundation, he could improve the rest of his techniques on his own.

The only thing Alen was lacking before was those exact basics, which had been limiting his growth for a long time. But now, as his fundamentals were cleared up, he achieved a massive growth spurt in his own capabilities.

His most evident growth was in his mastery of using the dagger.

He had now fully mastered the specific dagger arts which L had taught him. Now he could even use the fast weapon while fluidly incorporating his mana and his Crimson Essence into the strikes.

*CLASH!* *SLASH!*

Inside the large open ground behind the mansion, two guys stood facing each other while a fierce clash of battle went on between them. A short distance away, a round table was arranged. Sweet refreshments were placed there, surrounded by a few comfortable chairs. A large patio umbrella prevented the bright rays of sunlight from hitting the figures seated in the chairs.

One of the figures, a girl with black hair and crimson eyes, possessed a very small body and a cute face. She was eating a chocolate cookie while staring at their intense battle. She was none other than Ravena, once the Master of the Crimson Sky and famous for her feared title as ’Godless’, who was now reduced to a mere toddler.

Ava sat right beside her. Her face was the same, terrifyingly beautiful with purple hair and lavender eyes. Her expression was peaceful, as she enjoyed her quiet time staying in this secluded place. She gracefully picked up the warm cup of tea from the table and drank it slowly as she watched the sparring match going on between the two boys.

Both Alen and L were busy fighting each other under the hot afternoon sun. Both wore the exact same serious face during their training battles, acting as if they were seriously considering killing each other.

Suddenly, Alen stepped back a few quick paces. He looked at L with a deep frown.

"Wait, did you just copy my movement art? How can that even be possible?..."

L stood a short distance away from him. A smug smirk crossed his face.

"Nope, I haven’t copied it. It is just that I have battled you enough times now that I can easily read your every movement. I just tried to replicate the footwork myself once or twice. It is nothing too special..."

Alen narrowed his eyes. He used his movement skill, directly appearing behind L and leaving behind fading afterimages. He slashed his dagger directly toward L’s neck.

But suddenly, the blade passed right through empty air. It was just a leftover afterimage!

L had disappeared from that place and directly appeared right behind Alen, placing his own dagger firmly against Alen’s neck. He had really been able to perfectly replicate Alen’s movement art just by watching him use it for quite a long time.

"Hehe... I won the match..." L whispered.

Alen remained perfectly still. A small, cunning smile tugged on his face.

"Oh... Are you sure about that?..."

L looked down. Alen’s own dagger was positioned backward, placed directly on the center of L’s chest, right where his heart was located.

L smiled and pulled back his dagger. He stepped away, lowering his weapon.

"Okay, okay, I accept it. It is a tie then. But still, don’t forget that I won five out of our six matches today. Hehe..."

Alen didn’t look at him. He just started walking toward the shaded table.

"Tch! You are far too arrogant. You will die by my hand one day..."

L smirked as he followed right behind him.

"Oh, will that day ever come? I will patiently wait for that fateful day then...."

"Oh, wait! Did you just call me ’arrogant’?! Who are you to call me arrogant? You are an arrogant fool yourself!"

Alen smiled as he walked out of the sun and sat on the chair opposite Ava and Ravena. Behind him, L also joined the group and sat down beside him.

Alen picked up a cup and started drinking the warm tea while eating some fresh cookies.

Ava looked at the two of them and asked a question.

"Are you two really leaving today? I thought you could have stayed here a little longer..."

L gave a small, warm smile as he looked at her and answered.

"Well, thank you for saying that, but I have to go attempt my next trial. It is going to be my final trial as an Awakener. My whole future journey is going to depend on it..."

Alen also nodded in agreement as he put his empty tea cup back down on the table.

"It is also my last trial of Stage 1. I also don’t want to just sit back and stay here, jusy spending my time in a moment of peacefulness anymore. At least not until I have passed through the first stage..."

Ava nodded as she looked down at her glass of water. Her beautiful face reflected on the calm surface.

Both Alen and L looked at each other after seeing her remain silent. They knew that she could not participate alongside them in the upcoming trials. She was currently standing at Stage 4. Compared to her vast power, they were just Stage 1 individuals. Her path was different from theirs, so they could not accompany her forever in the Ascension Realm.

But they also knew that she had spent countless centuries all alone. She had suffered through something she couldn’t even remember for a long time, and she needed the comforting presence of familiar people the most right now.

L looked at her softly and spoke.

"It is okay, Ava. We will come back to meet you whenever we get the time. It is not like we are going to forget the precious time we spent with each other. You are still our friend, and you always will be..."

Alen nodded firmly beside him.

"Of course... You don’t need to feel alone. We will still be great friends..."

Ava looked at both of them and nodded, a rare trace of emotion in her eyes.

"Thank you for helping me. I don’t know what I would have done if you two were not here to guide me... You two have done so much for me and brought me to this peacefulness. I will always be indebted to you both...."

Both of them smiled as they chatted together for a while longer. Since they were going to leave for the final trial of Stage 1, there were various training sessions they had done together during this week to make sure they could face whatever dangerous trials awaited them in the Ascension Realm.

Since they planned to attempt this trial together, they both got ready, packed their necessary gear, and prepared to leave the mansion to face the trial together.

Outside the front gate of the mansion, Kalos stood patiently, waiting for the duo to come out.

As footsteps echoed down the path, his face lit up. He looked solely at Ava, ignoring the two other guys walking right alongside her.

"Oh, it has been a while, Lady Ava! How are you doing? I was so busy with my duties that I wasn’t able to visit this place. Did you face any trouble? How are you adjusting to this new environment?..."

Ava looked at him and nodded expressionlessly.

"I am fine, Mr. Kalos. The environment here is very good. I feel peaceful staying here. Thank you for coming here to drop both of them near the dimensional gate."

He shrugged his shoulders calmly and replied with a charming smile.

"It is not a big deal at all. It is the least I can do for you—Ahem! I mean, do for the good people of the city."

Ava nodded again.

"I think you should go now..."

Kalos snapped out of his lovestruck daze. He nodded and looked around the empty driveway.

"Wait, where did both of those kids go?..."

Ava remained silent. She just gestured toward the inside of the expensive car, where both Alen and L were already sitting inside, completely unaware to him until now.

Kalos looked at them, startled.

’When the f*ck did they enter inside my car?...’

Alen smirked as he looked out of the window. He slapped Kalos’s shoulder lightly.

"Hehe... It is good to see you too, Hero Kalos. Don’t worry about us, we are ready to depart."

L who was seated right beside Alen, just offered a silent nod.

Kalos, still slightly flustered by their stealth, quickly composed himself.

"Okay, let’s go then. See you soon, Lady Ava. I will come by later to meet you again. Bye-bye..."

He quickly got into the driver’s seat of the car, still feeling flustered, and started the engine.

As the car started to turn around and drive away from the mansion’s gates, both Alen and L waved their hands before departing on their journey.

Left all alone after the car drove away, Ava stood there for a quiet minute. She then composed herself. Any brief vulnerability vanished from her posture as she entered the large mansion.

The mansion felt silent. No sounds of friendly bickering or warmth could be felt. The once-peaceful atmosphere filling the mansion now felt somewhat hollow. She sat down on the living room couch, looking at nothing in particular.

As she remained there in silence, a sudden noise pierced the quiet.

*RING!* *RANG!* *RING!*

Her phone, which she had bought during her time staying here, vibrated loudly on the table. She picked up the phone and accepted the incoming call.

"Yes..."

She listened quietly in silence. Her beautiful face remained expressionless as the voice on the other end spoke.

"Okay. You should handle everything else on your end. I will return there once again."

After the phone call was cut off, she placed the device back onto the table.

"It seems it is time to visit that place again..."

A distinct hint of longing shone into her lavender eyes as she got up from the couch and walked out.
