Chapter 118: The Hero’s Arrival

As the cold air swept through the battlefield, the heavy metallic smell of blood lingered around the afternoon air.

L stood calmly in the center of the slaughter. A few feet away, Alen stood before the kneeling guy. Alen’s azure gaze swept through the hundreds of dead bodies lying scattered around the frozen park.

’What happened here? Did that guy seriously take care of everyone all by himself? He just killed hundreds of people in his same rank, and also above, with such terrifying ease? Who is he exactly?...’ Alen thought to himself, watching the cloaked figure, L.

Alen looked at him, but then he felt the sudden movement of the injured guy Hedric, kneeling right before him.

Hedric was kneeling on the hard ground. His red blood was spilled all around his battered body. His broken bones could be seen coming out, tearing through his pale skin. His agonizing screams finally lessened as he gasped for breath.

His eyes turned bloodshot as he looked around at his dead companions. His crazed gaze swept through the surrounding scattered organs and severed body parts, finally settling toward the cloaked guy who stood proudly among the sheer onslaught of destruction.

Hedric’s face twisted in pure rage. As his bloodshot eyes settled on L, he stopped holding back his power. An immense, crushing pressure suddenly slammed down on both of them.

[First Star: Earth Manipulation: Crushing Weight!]

The heavy pressure slammed over the ground. It was so immense that the ground beneath them split open into several massive pieces. Both Alen and L lost their footing. The park was destroyed clean; the large trees fell down, the broken slides and swings snapped out of their concrete bases, and the rusted bench from earlier fell inside the split ground.

The park was completely turned into a ruin, and a thick dust cloud covered the surroundings, obscuring their vision.

As the dust slowly started to clear, the scrawny man suddenly appeared right in front of L, who had fallen on the ground after losing his footing.

L’s expression was tense as he faced the powerful opponent in front of him.

"You little f*cking Shit! I am going to kill you!"

[Earth Manipulation: Earth Shattering Punch!]

Large chunks of the broken earth suddenly flew toward his hand. His fist was coated with a dense layer of rock as a bright orange light emitted from his strike. He launched his brutal attack.

*BOOOOOOOM!*

The heavy punch directly hit L’s stomach. L launched backward as blood spilled from his mouth. He crashed through the split ground and slammed into the distant wall.

But that wasn’t the end. The enraged man burst out from his place, appeared right before L again, and punched him again, pinning his bruised body onto the ground beneath.

He launched a relentless shower of punches into the dirt.

*BOOOOOOM!* *BOOOOOM!*

*Splat!*

His attacks were merciless. He hammered his fists down with all his might, each blow causing the ground to crack further and send shockwaves rippling through the air. The ground clattered beneath L’s body as blood started to leak from the devastating punches. Hedric continued to punch him relentlessly without stopping, as he lost his sanity while attacking him.

Suddenly, a calm presence stepped right behind him. It was not Alen, but someone unknowingly familiar to Hedric. His flying punch suddenly halted as a handsome figure appeared behind his back.

A man with neat brown hair and piercing obsidian eyes looked down at him.

His hand touched Hedric’s shaking shoulder. Hedric turned his back toward him, his rage subsided instantly, as he slowly regain his lost sanity.

"Boss?..."

The man looked down at him with cold, sharp eyes.

"Hedric, did you forget what I told you? Don’t touch that guy. He was mine to take care of..."

Hedric swallowed hard as cold sweat dripped from his dirty face.

"But, didn’t you see he killed every single one of our companions, boss? How could I not do anything?..."

The man’s expression didn’t change. He looked forward toward the bloody crater where Hedric had just punched.

"Where is he?"

Hedric looked back toward the crater. There was no cloaked figure lying there. Instead of L, there was another body—one of his own dead companions sprawling on the ground. Around the crushed corpse, purple flower petals were scattered.

"Wait! He was here just a second ago! Where did he go?..." Hedric panicked.

The man’s expression didn’t change as his gaze swept around the ruined park. No one else was present here except them. It was safe to say the ones who were here had already run away during the dust cloud.

"You gave them the perfect opportunity to run away..."

He looked down toward Hedric with cold eyes and leaned down to meet his terrified gaze.

"You know what I hate the most? I hate it when someone does not listen to my commands. When someone disrespects my specific orders or myself... You have done what you shouldn’t have..."

Hedric bowed down on the broken ground in sheer apology.

"Sorry, boss! I am sorry, I didn’t mean to disrespect you, it’s just that I—"

Before he could finish his sentence, the man placed his bare hand on Hedric’s trembling shoulder.

Suddenly, Hedric’s body started to turn into water. His bodily form fell apart as the clear water spilled onto the ground of the park.

The powerful man, Hedric—who had just split the park and thought he killed L—was no more.

The handsome man stood up and looked around the quiet surroundings.

His brown hair flew gently in the passing breeze as his obsidian eyes gleamed with intent.

He was none other than the man famous by the name ’Hydro-man’, widely considered as the Hero of Vale City, Kalos Seinhart.

"It seems you tried to run away... But you will not be able to run faster than me..."

His body suddenly turned into small droplets of water. He evaporated into the open sky and disappeared from the ruined place.
