Chapter 150: Her revenge?
Leonard.
I really hadn’t expected the Moon Goddess to punish me in such a cruel way.
Not even in my worst nightmare had I imagined that my mistakes would come back to haunt me like this.
It felt as though fate had patiently waited for the perfect moment before forcing me to face the consequences of every foolish decision I had ever made.
If only I had accepted Theresa’s love when she first offered it.
If only I hadn’t allowed my pride to cloud my judgment, and be adamant about responsibility.
If only my stubbornness hadn’t convinced me that walking away from her was the right choice.
If only I hadn’t been such a complete fool.
Everything would have been different.
She would have been mine—only mine.
I would have been the only one standing beside her, the only one holding her hand and the only one blessed enough to call her my mate.
Instead, I had rejected the greatest blessing fate had ever placed before me.
I had pushed it away with my own hands, never realizing that one day I would be forced to watch the consequences unfold right before my eyes.
And now—now I had to share her, not with strangers, not with rivals but with my own brothers.
The thought alone made my stomach twist into painful knots.
Every time it crossed my mind, a wave of frustration rose inside me, threatening to consume every ounce of reason I had left.
It was absurd and it was completely unacceptable, as nothing about this situation felt right.
No matter how many times I tried to make sense of it, I simply couldn’t.
I refused to accept it.
I couldn’t allow something like this to happen.
Determination settled heavily in my chest as I parted my lips, ready to voice my objection and put an end to the madness.
But before a single word had the chance to leave my mouth, Bella suddenly stepped forward.
"How can they all be your mates, Theresa?" she asked, disbelief evident in her voice as she moved closer. "I know you’ve lost your memory, but that doesn’t mean you can suddenly decide to claim all three of them as—"
She never finished.
"Are you the one who’s mated and fated to them...or am I?" Theresa interrupted sharply.
Silence instantly swallowed the room.
Theresa’s eyes burned with unmistakable fury as they locked onto Bella’s face. There wasn’t a trace of hesitation in her expression. Even without her memories, she stood there with remarkable confidence, refusing to be intimidated.
Bella parted her lips. "I..."
"Then shut your mouth," Theresa snapped mockingly, her voice cutting through the tense silence like a blade. "Sit down and carefully listen to me." She commanded, as every word landed with absolute certainty. "They are all my mates."
The firmness in her declaration left no room for argument, and then, after briefly studying Bella’s face, Theresa tilted her head ever so slightly.
A small chuckle escaped her lips.
"Tell me..." she said calmly. "Are you tired of them being your brothers?" She paused just long enough for the question to settle heavily in the room. "Or..." Her smile widened ever so slightly. "Do you want them as your mates now?"
Bella’s face immediately drained of color.
Every trace of confidence she had displayed moments ago disappeared.
I couldn’t stop myself from staring at her. Her silence, and the sudden change in her expression...It made an unsettling thought creep into my mind.
Could Bella...?
No. That couldn’t be right.
I immediately forced the thought out of my mind before it had the chance to take root.
No. I wasn’t going to entertain something so ridiculous.
Bella was our sister.
That fact alone was enough to shut down every disturbing possibility that had begun creeping into my mind.
There was absolutely no way she would ever look at any of us that way. It simply wasn’t possible.
No matter how suspicious her reaction had appeared a few moments ago, I refused to believe such an absurd conclusion.
People froze for all kinds of reasons.
Shock could make anyone lose their composure. Surprise could steal a person’s voice just as easily.
That had to be what had happened.
There was no reason for me to think otherwise.
I wasn’t about to let my imagination twist something innocent into something it wasn’t.
I wouldn’t allow my mind to become corrupted by such disturbing thoughts.
Not even for a single second.
Taking a slow breath, I deliberately pushed the matter aside before lifting my gaze once more.
My eyes settled on Theresa again.
The moment I looked at her, another unsettling feeling crept into my chest.
For some reason, I couldn’t shake the feeling that she was doing all of this on purpose.
The suspicion lingered stubbornly in the back of my mind, refusing to disappear no matter how many times I tried to dismiss it.
It almost felt deliberate.
As though every word she spoke and every decision she made had been carefully chosen to make me experience the same pain I had once forced her to endure.
Was this her revenge?
Was this her way of making me suffer?
The mere possibility sent an uncomfortable weight crashing down on my chest.
Then, without warning, another thought flashed through my mind, causing my heartbeat to quicken.
Could it be...had she remembered something from the past?
My breathing became uneven as I considered the possibility.
After all, she had awakened her powers in their full bloom.
None of us truly knew what such an awakening could trigger.
Perhaps the surge of power had done more than strengthen her abilities.
Perhaps it had awakened fragments of the memories she had lost.
Perhaps those forgotten moments had begun returning to her one by one.
Perhaps, she remembered everything—every painful moment, every rejection, every tear she had shed because of me and every wound I had inflicted upon her heart with my own foolish choices.
The thought alone made my chest tighten painfully.
A heavy knot settled in my throat, making it difficult to breathe.
No...I quickly forced myself to reject that conclusion.
That couldn’t be the only explanation.
There was still something about this entire situation that simply didn’t make sense.
We couldn’t all possibly be her mates.
That wasn’t supposed to happen.
It went against everything I believed about the mate bond.
Maybe Theresa had misunderstood what she was feeling.
Perhaps she had mistaken the bond entirely.
After all, when fate revealed itself, the three of us had been standing together.
We had all been gathered in the same place at the exact same moment.
Maybe the strange pull she experienced hadn’t been directed toward everyone.
Maybe being surrounded by the three of us had confused her senses.
Maybe the bond she felt wasn’t divided between us at all.
Maybe...It had only been meant for me.
That had to be it.
It was the only explanation my mind was willing to accept.
But...the thought quickly crumbled. It didn’t explain the certainty on my brothers’ faces.
Lurgard wasn’t confused and neither was Lawrence.
The confidence in their voices earlier hadn’t sounded forced or uncertain.
Both of them were absolutely convinced that Theresa was their mate as well.
That alone made my argument fall apart.
Regardless of how impossible the situation seemed, regardless of how much I tried to deny it...one thing remained certain—I refused to share my mate.
I had already lost her once because of my own mistakes.
I wasn’t about to lose her again, and especially not to anyone, not even to my own brothers.
If this situation was ever going to be resolved, then it all came down to one thing.
Her choice.
Without another moment of hesitation, I stepped forward. I took one step and then another.
Finally, after the third step, I stopped directly in front of Theresa.
Slowly, I reached for her hands and gently wrapped mine around them, giving them a soft, reassuring pat.
"Theresa," I called firmly, my voice low yet filled with determination. "You have to make a choice now."
The command left my lips before I could second-guess myself.
Immediately, silence settled over the room.
Every pair of eyes shifted toward Theresa, and no one spoke nor did anyone move.
We simply waited—awaiting the words that would decide all of our fates.
Deep inside, I was certain of only one thing—she loved me.
No matter what had happened between us, no matter how much she claimed otherwise.
I knew her heart.
If she chose anyone...It had to be me.
Theresa slowly lifted her gaze, and her eyes swept across the three of us before finally settling on mine.
A quiet determination shone within them.
"No, Leonard," she said firmly, as she held my gaze without the slightest hint of hesitation. "I am not choosing anyone."
Her words struck like a heavy blow against my chest.
"You three are my mates..." She paused briefly before finishing with unwavering certainty. "And it will remain that way."
