Chapter 137: Back off!
Ella.
The expression on Alex’s face filled me with a level of satisfaction I had never experienced before.
The shock. The panic. The complete disbelief written all over his face.
Every emotion flashed across his features so clearly that it was almost impossible to look away.
For once, he was the one who had lost control.
For once, he was the one standing helplessly before everyone.
And this?
This was only the beginning.
Compared to everything else I had prepared for him, today’s humiliation was nothing more than the first crack.
The moment he discovered everything that was still waiting for him...he might not even be able to bear it.
The thought alone almost made me smile wider.
Still...I had to admit something had genuinely caught me off guard.
I never expected Alex to shove Eva away.
The speed with which he stepped in front of me...the force with which he pushed her back before she could touch me...It was so unexpectedly heroic that I nearly burst into laughter.
How ironic.
The very woman he had insisted was meant to become Bloodfang’s Luna had just been thrown to the ground by the same man.
Life truly had an amusing sense of humor.
Alex looked at me, his eyes were filled with desperation.
"Ella... please stop this already..." He said, as his voice sounded almost pleading. "I’ll make you my only Luna."
For a second, I simply stared at him.
Then amusement washed over me once again.
Was he actually serious?
Now?
After everything?
I thought that was exactly what he didn’t want.
I thought he had already made his choice long ago.
A quiet chuckle escaped my lips.
"It’s too late, Alex," I replied calmly, without the slightest trace of hesitation, as there was nothing left for us to discuss and nothing left to negotiate. "We’re divorced."
I spoke each word firmly, making sure everyone present heard it clearly.
There would be no misunderstanding, no false hope and no turning back.
Besides...I wanted him to understand something.
The only Luna Bloodfang would ever have now was Eva.
The same Eva he had just humiliated in front of everyone by pushing her onto the ground without a second thought.
How unfortunate.
A faint smile tugged at my lips.
Oops...What about their baby?
That fall hadn’t looked gentle at all.
For the briefest moment, the thought crossed my mind before disappearing just as quickly.
"Ela, listen!" Alex called out desperately, trying to continue.
The sound of his voice immediately irritated me. Every word that came out of his mouth now felt meaningless.
"Shut up, Mr. Blake!" I snapped, my voice echoing sharply across the hall.
The entire venue fell silent again.
I looked directly into his eyes. "Now listen to me." I said, my tone cold and unwavering. "We have absolutely nothing to do with each other anymore." I paused deliberately before delivering the final blow. "So stop clinging to your fantasies."
The moment those words left my lips, whispers immediately spread throughout the crowd.
Guests exchanged startled glances.
Murmurs rippled across the hall as everyone struggled to process the confrontation unfolding before their eyes.
Almost as if an invisible signal had been given, every Alpha present slowly rose from their seats.
The atmosphere shifted instantly.
The whispers that had filled the hall moments earlier gave way to open dissatisfaction.
Expressions of curiosity were replaced with irritation.
One of the Alphas took a step forward, unable to conceal his annoyance any longer.
"Did you call us here just to witness your divorce?" He asked, as his voice boomed across the hall, carrying obvious displeasure.
His words immediately stirred the others.
Several Alphas exchanged glances before shaking their heads.
"Tch." Another Alpha let out an amused chuckle as he folded his arms across his chest. "Here I was thinking it might actually be possible to manage two Lunas." He laughed openly, making no attempt to hide his mockery. "Bloodfang has just shown all of us exactly how impossible that idea really is."
A few low chuckles followed from different corners of the hall.
"Exactly," another Alpha agreed as he casually stepped forward, as his eyes swept over both Eva and me before settling on Alex. "But tell me something." He tilted his head slightly. "Why would you divorce the beautiful one..." His gaze rested on me. "...and keep the ugly one?"
The words had barely left his mouth before Alex exploded.
"Watch your tone, Nathan!"
In a burst of anger, Alex strode forward and grabbed Nathan roughly by the collar.
His grip tightened immediately and his eyes burned with fury.
"Only I have the right to call her beautiful!"
The hall fell into stunned silence.
Nathan merely looked down at Alex’s hand before letting out a small scoff.
Without warning, he shoved Alex backward with enough force to break his grip.
Alex staggered several steps before regaining his balance.
"She isn’t your wife anymore, Alex," Nathan said mockingly, as his lips curled into a smug smile. "There are limits to what rights you can still claim."
Without sparing Alex another glance, Nathan turned and began walking directly toward me.
Every confident step echoed through the silent hall.
When he finally stopped before me, he offered me an elegant smile before extending one hand toward me.
His posture was calm, and almost gentlemanly.
"Would you do me the honor of being with me?" Nathan asked smoothly.
For a brief second, I simply stared at the hand stretched toward me.
Then disgust settled heavily inside me.
The sheer audacity of this man.
Did he honestly believe I was some prize to be claimed the moment my marriage ended?
Did he think I was nothing more than a political advantage to be passed from one Alpha to another whenever it suited their interests?
The thought alone made my stomach turn.
Before I could voice even a fraction of my irritation, three figures suddenly stepped in front of me.
They moved so quickly that Nathan instinctively halted.
The triplets stood shoulder to shoulder, completely shielding me from his view.
Their expressions were cold, protective and unwavering as each of them fixed Nathan with an icy glare.
"Back off."
Their voices rang out together in perfect unison, firm enough to make the tension in the hall rise even higher.
